I'm not sure how many other people have an issue with this. But I know I'm not the only one, because I've heard others voice similar complaints.

One aspect of tanking that can really annoy me is the constant need to watch enemy animations to know when to block. It can be a pain with all the spell effects, summons, adds... even the occasional vine or tree that blocks the camera can be the difference in life and death. Lag also, which can make animations skip sometimes.

So for those of us who don't particular enjoy that aspect of tanking: I'd like to see a new ability added that allows to anticipate heavy incoming damage without having to keep our block active and burning stamina. For example: give us a skill that allows us to throw up a buff (call it anticipation or something) for 6 seconds that allows us to automatically block a heavy attack that occurs in that 6 second window.

Tanks who don't rely on this ability won't have to give up one of their skill slots for it. So there is compensation for tanks who do it the hard way.

I think this might also attract more players to play tanks, which would help with overall wait times for dungeons.

Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign
    In the wrong house
    With the wrong ascendancy
    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

I recall there being this ulti called Shield Wall...

There is an ultimate that works similarly. But it's an ultimate and therefore can't be relied upon consistently. Plus the ultimate is more effective then what I am proposing here, because it blocks all attacks - not just heavy attacks.

    man, it's just a 135 cost Ulti

If you don't understand wut's going on, just keep block before you understand, see the boss etc.
Also there is in-built game advisor which literally writes on-screen - block and even shows which button you must press ><
I agree with you that there are some (but rare) ranged HA from boss which might one-shot you (Falkreath vet as example) - to deal with that you have absorb magicka, dragon wings and shield wall.

In vet trials there is much more the tank needs to block or will die. But if a tank cannot notice the attacks they should not be tanking vet trials.

L2P doesn’t have to be a hateful response like some mean it. At the root it is just saying that as skill improves the problem resolved with no need for design change.

One simple thing is the tank needs to learn to instinctually enter a prolonged block whenever his focus is stolen. I am against perma blocking. It’s not to your advantage. But if tanking mobs with potential one shots and your view is abstracted we should enter block with zero thought required, restore visibility, and then return to active blocking.

This should be our reflexive response any time our focus is stolen. For example sometimes I know I get tunnel vision on a task. A mob is loose and I must get it immediately. My attention is 100% on that. I’m going to enter a prolonged block while I do because I know I’m likely to miss blocking a heavy attack. Simply having that response to such moments including camera views, and suddenly this isn’t a problem the developers need to change the game around. That is by definition what we mean by a L2P issue. Skill makes the problem go away with no need of developer interference.

That said, the OP spoke clearly and maturely with no crying attitude. I disagree with his view but I/we ought to respect him as somebody who conducted himself well.
