Nerfs or removing CP?

With each year there are 120 new CP available, which without overall nerfing woulld be overpowering.. I know spending the new 30 CP with each Patch has some good feels, but the nerfs with every new Patch is more annoying for me. Sadly I don't have a very good soultion (My best solution would be similar to Skyrim perks with benefits similar to current Constellation Passives)

My question to the forum: Should the CP System replaced with some less impact full progression system and with that (hopefully) the new patch nerfs would be less dramatic or should the current system remain (with minor improvments)

What will happen at cp 1600? Ten times the item level cap? Seems a little like a band aid...unless there are perks waiting at putting 200 into tree or something...

There should be an option like:

Overhaul CP System & reintroduce soft caps & hard caps
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

Progression needs to stay, but it shouldn't be so daunting for newer people to get it.

@RaptorRodeoGod Sorry this is my first poll. But overall you would keep the system with massive improvments or change it to the point it would be hard to recognise from the current CP system?

I guess keep it. Vastly change it though so it's less stat number based and more fun abilities/effects based.

It needs some adjustments here and there for sure - certainly not removing. Also what might help with overall flexibility and modulation is if each skill had a third branch instead of just two. Anyway, back to CP, I like the overall feeling of having something to strive/work for.

The game needs a lot of updates and overhauls but it will never ever happen. Their interest more strongly aligns with nickel and dimming people to death through the crownstore.

The idea of endless progression is good in itself. The whole problem is in its competent implementation.

The current champion system has a number of problems:

    1) Actually it is not endless
There is a hardcap of 3600 points. Roughly speaking, half of them are insignificant due to the separation of stamina and magicka. Plus, diminishing returns allows you to easily save up to a quarter of points in a particular star. That is, in practice, it turns out that hardcap is much lower than is customary to denote.

    2) As OP mentioned (and many players before), it affects characters too much
7 purple light armor pieces give you as much resistance as 49 points in Hardy and Elemental Defender. And 32 points in Mighty gives you a pocket healer, spamming Combat Prayer with 100% uptime, in terms of damage. Not to mention special perks like healing for critical damage taken.

These problems would be minor unless ...

    3) It does not force to choose between damage, resistance and sustain.
The appearance of HA meta can be considered a consequence of this point. Whatever build you make, the champion system will add you missing damage, resistance and sustain. I do not remember when I last thought when distributing points, because I literally have enough of them for everything.

I am sure ZOS understand it better than players, and they probably already have a solution to the current situation. And it will be added soon™. Just no ETA™.
    Everything is viable

Well said with too much CP I think many class differneces will be vanishing, and though the less frigid classes is a good thing compared to other MMOs in my opinion, too much similarity is not good in that case.

If you think CP increase from last 2 years has caused the majority of power creep, you'd be wrong. The power creep is coming from new OP gear, ability changes and combat changes.

The idea behind the poll is very poorly thought out. Voting to replace CP in the vacuum of ignorance of what will replace it seems rather short sighted. Maybe OP works for Zos since Zos does not think things through either.

CP 1030 currently... the powercreep has become rediculous now that people can simply put CP into most everything they want... I think that the CP system should be converted into a system that has less but more meaningful progression choices (ie significant trade offs for each choice)

I'd like to see people have to choose only 2 of the three trees, or cause some cost/benefit choices between damage, regen and resist. Or have primary, secondary, and third tree tiers that give full point value at primary, half at secondary, one third on last.

I'm not sure how, but I'd rather shake things up than continue on this "March of Boons" that just makes you better in all areas despite your character serving a primary role that does not do all things.

I think it is more complicated than just CP. If ZOS really wanted to lower power creep they could do stuff like get rid of LA weaving, increase cool downs for things like glyphs & potions, and rework some gear sets. Probably any one of those has a larger effect on power creep than just CP. I think people just see CP as the low hanging fruit because it is 'skill-less' power creep.
