DPS checks in Dungeons

Theoretically, unless there is a berserker mechanic, you could take as long as you want, you could even do 1 dps if there is no enrage, but the higher the dps, the less the chance that you will *** up somewhere, unless you are a robot, which i find unlikely.

Drodda is more of an endurance and accuracy test if DPS is low - it's not as important to go all-out on her, as to carefully watch stamina levels to be able to break out at any moment. And @Darkenarlol, the question of the topic is more binary, I think - which bosses have mechanics that prevent groups with DPS below some margin from even theoretically beating them. Like bosses with enrage timer. Say, if you go into black hole in vSO, you have to burn down a mob there within some limited time (I think 100 seconds?), or else Mantikora enrages.

I think you might find direfrost hm too difficult. Though it depends on group dps and set up. But that one is a pure dps race and you are either doing more dps than she is healing or you are not.

It took us nearly 13mins with 15K grp dps. At one point she was out healing the damage as magicka DDs had insufficient stamina to CC break. One of my least favourite dungeons as a Tank main since Drodda cannot be taunted.

Yeah, taunt-ignoring bosses always suck as the tank. Especially when the randoms you end up with don't know/believe that the boss is immune.

there is no enrages in non-dlc stuff... except valkin skoria at CoA2 (30k party dps vet or 40k vet hm is fine to finish him before
all platforms are gone) so actually nothing you can't beat with 40 k party dps (which was VERY high before all that power creep)

in DLCs(especially newer ones)...well there is a lot of burst checks (kill something FAST like giant frost casters in zaan fight...but their HP is really low) stacked with other mechanics
but as far as i can remember there is nothing you can't do even with 40k party dps...it just gonna be really (i mean really-really) harder than with normal dps ( at least 80k party dps if 2 dd)

it just gonna double the fight time so there gonna be twice as many chances to screw something up =)
btw the lower your dps the harder times your tank or/and heal gonna have.

So, for these DPS numbers, are those 'real' DPS, or 'training dummy' DPS?

I can get 19k-20k DPS on a training dummy in a full offensive build, but when I go out soloing dungeons (normal mode) and check Combat Metrics, I'm usually around 10k-12k in hybrid mode (lighting/restoration staff combo), and something like 14k-16k in an offensive build (lightning/lightning). (This is all as a non-pet sorcerer.)

The hybrid mode is easy to survive in, but does less damage. The offense mode does more damage, but is a good bit more risky. Fights that are a complete breeze in hybrid mode often get me close to death in offense mode.

Both are large steps behind training dummy mode, though, because they're the results of real fights instead of dummy fights. Between adds, mobs moving out of AOEs, dodging enemy AOEs, blocking heavy attack moves, healing, repositioning, knockback/knockdown, and all the rest, it's often quite difficult to bring full combat power to bear on the target. (Or more simply, because I'm acting as tank, healer, and DD all in one.)

Anyway, for normal mode, tier 1, non-DLC dungeons (or non-tiered dungeons that Glirion sends you to), 10k real DPS (per target) is clearly sufficient, as I can solo most of them with that. (This includes Direfrost and Scalecaller Peak.) The ones that I can't solo (which includes several of the tier 2's that I've tried) are generally because of mechanics which prevent a solo completion, rather than a lack of DPS.

When I've tried vet dungeons (tier 1) solo, I can beat some of the bosses, but not all of them. I'm usually blocked by bosses that summon adds, and I can't kill them quickly enough before their damage adds up to too much for me to handle. If my real DPS in hybrid mode increased to 15k, or perhaps 20k, I would most likely be able to handle them. If I had even one other person helping me out, it wouldn't be a problem at all. So there's a DPS check there, but isn't too hard to surpass as long as you're in a group. Even 5k DPS per person should add up to enough to manage.

So I'd say that if you can do 20k training dummy damage, and are in an actual group, most dungeons should be doable on vet. Some (eg: Fang's Lair) may not be doable without the entire party having a solid understanding of the mechanics involved, though. No idea what the threshold for hard mode is, as I have no experience with that.

Same might be true for CoA, for all I know; but I don't know, since I don't think I've ever seen him reach the fifth pad.

I'm pretty sure Valkyn Skoria destroys the platforms at set time intervals, not related to his HP at the time.

Quoting myself because I did CoH 2 two days ago so I can confirm this. He died before even destroying the second platform. He has a set rotation of abilities that's independent of his health. Which makes it funny when he says crap like "DIE AND BE REBORN" as he dies
