WoW is heading down the wrong road. Gone are the days of custom builds and playing how you want. Now every class is pruned to the point that all builds are the same, and they funnel you into a play set whether you like it or not because there are no other choices. Everything is time gated, everything is rep locked, everything is story progression locked. If you want that you must do this and this and this first. Everything is also now RNG, there is nothing you can work for, you just put in the time and effort and hope you get something.

Their latestest expansion BfA is also bugged out the wazoo. Almost all of the issues brought up in Beta were pushed live instead of being fixed first. They are also having an odd lag issue that is affecting the majority of their players and they can't seem to figure out what is happening at all so fixing it isn't likely to happen. Two classes were so borked that their lead dev said flat out they are not viable BUT won't be "fixed" until the first major patch. Are you kidding me? Ok so here is the first major patch on their PTR and guess what, NO fixes for those two classes so far.

All of the game issues brought up by the players are being met with "working as intended" by the devs who also basically tell us the game is fun but we're just playing it wrong. That level of arrogance will be WoW's undoing.

I have never walked away from a WoW expansion as early as I did this one. All of my toons have been parked, all auctions pulled, all mail cleared. All of my friends have already quit.

Now, this game (ESO of course lol) isn't perfect. No game is. My biggest issues with this game are the lag spikes and random disconnects. Other than that I personally find this game superior in every way to WoW.

I quit back in WoD for pretty much all of the things you mentioned here. Well, that and their decision to try to phase out flying. Then the introduction of Pathfinder and their arbitrary 8 month time gate on that.

My thought process was, "if you dont want me to fly, that's fine, there's a lot of games without flying and most dont require a sub fee just for the privilege of getting past the log in screen".

Got really in to ESO after that. This game has all the stuff that I used to like about WoW. Blizzard decided "well, there's always a meta, so we're just going going to do away with all the abilities we dont think are necessary and that way every one will have to use our meta". Happily, I don't think Zos will ever the same stupid idea.

Today's wow is so much different than ESO. Wow is more of a raid or die type of game now..fast leveling so you can start to play the game at level cap. Not much else outside of raiding or running the high level dungeons. Each patch ups the gear level so it's a never-ending gear chase.

But does being 5x better that WoW (or any other game you care to choose to compare it against) make it the best game it could be
or just better than the poor game you compare it against

Clearly ESO is not the best game it could be if resources were put into fixing the large number of bugs being reported

Yeah but wow actually has servers that work...in my time playing and completing legion and bfoa I’ve never had lag or ping issues in pvp or pve...while the game itself maybe going down hill, it’s refreshing to log into a game where I don’t have to worry about lag and performance issues. It’s smooth as butter.

BS. The only time you aren't lagging horrendously in BfA, is in an instance.

I haven't experienced lag yet in ESO, just horrible targeting in pvp.

Just looking at the customer reviews for the new expansion for wow makes me think that game will soon go downhill. I have my complaints but it pales in comparison to the state of the game wow is becoming.

If you think ESO is better 5 times better from WoW why Legion had officially 14.6m players while ESO never had the 1/5 of it?
To further reassure you,ZoS keeps sending players back to WoW since they constantly destroy the game with their balancing based on forum whining kids that played skyrim yesterday and beacame TOP MMO players today.

Seriously ESO bois, ive played TES more than i played WoW but i still cant figure out why you have a holy crusade against WoW and why youre getting so triggered with it, it was, it is and will remain at least 10 times better from ESO without imbalances without problems without lags without bugs and with devs that actually play their game.

90% of WoW haters that tried their luck there trust me is a band that never understood neither could use more than 5 keys,in ESO we are 5 keys paradise. Based to that theory, somebody else will claim tetris is better from ESO because he cant handle 5 keys.

Because an angry ESO fanboi is about to ask, ive quit WoW because its not a game but a full time job. I have a job and i have a RL too, a casual game like ESO is fitting more to my free time because WoW demands alot of time.

I left before WoD landed, for much of the same reasons as both of you. I couldn't deal with the "well, we'll still let you fly - in old content" crap. So my 70 characters (appx) are all sitting wherever I left them, with all the bank stuff and gold intact. My daughter and sister still play some, and daughter plays RIFT some still too (I left RIFT in 2016 for similar reasons), so they'd know if anyone ever got into my toons - not that I even really care at this point. I'll never go back to either game, and I'd played WoW from 2006 to 2013.

You know what? I didn't even miss it. Or RIFT when I quit it (played 2013 to 2016). I played Skyrim for the couple of years between then and now.
