So i just thinked. dont know if someone before me had the idea. But what if we could have race skills on all 10 race. Not 5, just 2, an attack and a buff. race specific. So my question. Would it be good? we need it? or would be overpowered and unnecessary.

I think folks will complain about the races becoming less flexible is they decide to change the passives to be better complemented by the racial skills, and of course there will be issues regarding certain skills becoming too OP and then races themselves becoming too OP.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to have to deal with the possibility of only Nords winning beer drinking tournaments thanks to the "Sober Drinker" ultimate they now have and the "Pitless Drinker" morph used on top of it.
You only need three things in life: love, a cold drink, and a sense of humour. : Said the guy who owns this account (Sorry I don't have a better role model who's quote I could steal instead)

Well I just came up with an Ultimate and a morph for it for the Nords so I guess it's down to your imagination.

Got to agree with this. However, in the interest of Fun, here's an idea for a Bosmer ultimate:

Cannibal Hack off and consume the limbs of your opponent, dealing X Physical damage, adding Y Health to you for Z seconds, and Immobilizing your opponent for the duration

Hog 'n Jog (Morph) Doubles the Health buff but Slows you 50%

Dine 'n Dash (Morph) Adds Major Expedition

Nah. Too many min-maxing derps out there already booting people from groups over the current negligible racial passives. Adding actual racial skill lines would just exacerbate the problem. Not worth it.

I'd rather see racials in general overhauled before anything else was added. Not a fan of racials having the impact they do and being shoehorned into certain roles... or the racials just not being useful for you at all. Lemme play what I want because I like the lore or aesthetics and not feel guilty about "wasting" my racials for having a magspec Redguard or Khajiit or wanting a stamspec Altmer.

I'd like it as long as it was implemented in such a way that the skills weren't mandatory to have. 1 skill and passives just like armor would be fine imo, as long as the skill isn't OP or mandatory to have. PvP focused skills would be the best for this, since build diversity is much more flexible in a PvP environment.

That being said, I'd like more races in the game so if adding this made that less likely, I wouldn't be a fan.

It is tragic the racial traits we had in Skyrim are non existent in ESO namely the Orc Berserker Rage (I don't have them all memorized) I believe the Dark Elves set themselves on fire creating a damage shield or damaging shield? yes I think bringing these back to the races of Tamriel is a great idea.

    Altmer
    (High elf)
    Highborn
Regenerate 25% of the character's maximum magicka per second for 60 seconds.
    Argonian
    Histskin
Regenerate health 10 times faster for 60 seconds.
    Bosmer
    (Wood Elf)
    Command Animal
Make all surrounding animals your allies for 60 seconds.
    Breton
    Dragonskin
Absorb 50% of magicka from all incoming spells for 60 seconds.
    Dunmer
    (Dark Elf)
    Ancestor's Wrath
Surrounds the character in fire for 60 seconds.
    Imperial
    Voice of the Emperor
Nearby people are Calmed for 30 seconds.
    Khajiit
    Night Eye
Improved Night Vision for 60 seconds (can be toggled multiple times per day).
    Nord
    Battle Cry
Nearby enemies are Frightened for 30 seconds.
    Orsimer
    (Orc)
    Berserker Rage
Take half damage and do double physical damage for 60 seconds.
    Redguard
    Adrenaline Rush
Regenerate stamina 10 times faster for 60 seconds.

I looked it up real fast. Yes these would be great added back into the ESO! Being ever loyal to the Orsimer, nobody can say we haven't been nerfed in the damage department since day friggin 1. /rodneydangerfieldvoice NO RESPECT I TELL YA! no respect.

rather than race skills wouldnt it seem more appropriate to have common skills and keep the modifiers.

for instance anyone could train for extra health, stamina, magicka, magica regen etc but each race would have an additional innate modifier to that.

so a bosmer would still have a bonus to stamina regen IF and only if they train for stam regen.

so if a bosmer trains for stam regen they get an extra bonus to that other races might not. Any race can train for stamina regen (bonus) though if they wished bosmer will just be the best at it. Same as an imperial would have the same health capacity but anyone could train health.

this will bring all races down one notch but still maintain their uniqueness.

i would set it up so you have to choose carefully and couldnt have it all but keep the same skill line format.

First I'd like to see changes to the Nord. We're, according to all eso lore "Hardy warriors with great battle prowess". we got the hardy part(kind off), but how many nord damage dealers do you see?(in any end game contant). If your idea gave skills and buffs/ulti to nords that could make them viable for endgame contant without backlash and getting the boot from min/max players, I'd beall for it.

No, it would be too op
Pro: Racial actives can make races with less desirable passives shine without a need to nerf other races or making them all feel the same.
Con: Balacing becomes more of a mess as the choice of race can enable broken playstyles depending on how much power these ultimates are packing and all new set/skill lines need to be tested with 5 classes times 10 races instead of just 5 classes.

I would love to see the choice of race matter more and bring more to the table than just passive boosts that for the most part aren't engaging at all, but I am sure that ZOS made the conscious decision to keep the races simple so that your race does not determine your playstyle and you aren't too far behind if you have the "wrong" race.

Since this is a "what if" thread, I'll play along and add a few ideas. These are intended to be ultimates and I tried my best to make them fit as many playstyles as possible without going against what the race stands for.
Argonians get cc immunity and heal that can be cast while stunned.
Dunmer get a flame cloak that damages in melee range.
Khajiit get a claw attack. Or maybe "nightsight" that increases crit damage and chance.
    Orcs get a more-physical-damage-dealt and less-damage-taken buff.
Bretons get a ward (maybe just another shield with some twist to it or maybe projectile nullification like absorb magic).
Bosmer get something something agility something something sprint cost at 0.
Imperial reduce damage dealt from enemies around them (a real pacify is just too strong).
Nords get a warcry that fears people or knocks them back/down.
Altmer restore magicka and get a magic damage buff.
Redguards get reduced stamina skill cost.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Excellent idea! I think it should be the Ulti animation somehow. Tie on bib, dig with fork?

Well I just came up with an Ultimate and a morph for it for the Nords so I guess it's down to your imagination.

Imperious (which is a race mod in Skyrim) does a pretty good job of making skills for races and keeping it lore friendly.

Altmer get an ability called ‘contingency’ which does a spell on some sort of trigger. That could be reworked as an ult that triggers under certain conditions (say, when a resource pool falls below x%) automatically provided ult cost is met.

Bosmer get a permanent beast ally, which would essentially be a variatij of the bear ultimate from Warden.

Orcs get berserk, which may trigger randomly and gives a damage boost. That wouldn’t be hard to rework as an ult.
