I picked up the game when it released and even did a small portion of the beta at the very end. Naturally I was super excited for an online Elder Scrolls game since I enjoyed the previous titles. However, I found the game lacking on every front.
But I gave it an honest shot. Leveled up all the way, did the entire storyline, all that jazz. But still, every time I tried to enjoy it, it just felt lacking. Everything felt mediocre to me. It wasn't an Elder Scrolls game, and it wasn't even a decent MMO. Just a half baked mess.
Came back in 2017 to try Morrowind out and didn't have much luck then either. Still felt stale and half baked. Didn't have any friends to play with so all I could really focus on was all the game's shortcomings.
Now I'm back again because a bunch of my friends decided to pick it up. I'm happy to play it because it's not Overwatch.
Dungeons are fun with friends. But everything else for me just feels "meh". I might just still be burned from the awful launch though.
I like being able to do whatever I feel like doing. Last night before bed I hit up Vivec City for some pickpocketing. This morning I'll run into Cyrodiil to help my guild. Sometimes I do nothing but run around farming mats and killing stuff. If I wanted to I could just stand there watching people fight.
Ahh, good thread. Well, ideally, games (particularly the traditional single-player games), doesn't matter if it's a big hit, moneymaker, or has won loads of awards; games are meant for a brief period as a week or several to be enjoyed, then you move on to the next segment or follow-ups of the same game or another entirely. However, MMO is just another beast that is meant to last a much longer period and to be enjoyed with reoccurring new contents, as ESO. I haven't yet touch another MMO, as I have consistently been on ESO, and going on 3 years of consistent playtime, one must enjoy such game that much to be able to last that long with a single game.
Well, for me, what keeps me at it with ESO (and even after a period of hiatus) all this lengthy time, thus far, is several reasons and factors. One being.. I enjoy very much creating a brand new toon from scratch, then rampaging and frolicking throughout Tamriel while leveling up and collecting skyshards, lorebooks, treasure chests, nodes and mats. I also enjoy that I can create fine-arse supermodel looking female toons and superstud male toons. I love the skillsets and abilities and the ability to combo/AC different skillsets together to stack damages and disintegrate the adds/mobs/bosses, whatever, within a couple sec or min. I enjoy my toons being that powerful. I definitely enjoy (aside from the endgames of having to be in a group for trials or whatnot) being able to play this game the way I want to play; whether to hit the dailies, help others who needs it for world bosses or just solo those bosses when I feel like.
Oh sure, it is so repetitive, but going on 3 years now, I still enjoy romping around and doing the same shitt/dailies and undaunted to level up what skills need be. It's a big plus that we are getting a reoccurring new contents every few months or so. Oh, let's not forget about the 30 more CPs after every new contents/patch.. hellyeah! Of course, the reoccurring lags, bugs and glitches suck, but, overall, there are many good and positive things about ESO more than those negatives. Hopefully, and I am sure, the good ZOS folks and developers/designers are continuously working to minimize and try to fix those nasty lags and bugs.
Overall, I just enjoy this damn game, and it has been the go-to get me through my day. Plus, the graphics, colors, depth, textures, sceneries and whatnot within the game are so vivid and mesmerizing. It is practically up to the level of Kingdom of Amular (one of my fav single-player game of similar content of all time.) Kudos, overall to Bethesda and ZOS for the continuing success of ESO.. and hopefully for a few more years to come.
reading about different armour sets and trying them out, creating and managing guild (i wish guilds capabilities were improved and reworked), dungeons and the ability to buy and sell items to players
What has been the most interesting set for you?
i remember every set ive ever used and my interest changes when i see new sets that appeal to me.
i used hundings with parabellum, but parabellum bugged my character alot and i had to phone zos up to fix the issue.
then i moved onto widowmaker, assassins guile and spawn of mephala, im a big lover of poisons. used this set for a very long time. i was upset with the changes to widowmaker in that the poison spore now appears in front of you instead of triggering on the enemy. it makes ranged widowmaker a waste. i think the spore should appear at your target hit instead of the player.
im now currently using nocturnals favour and grace of gloom and havent decided on a monster set yet. survivability and heals is great with this.
i want to try the new wolfhunter sets next. buying the dlc soon.
Decorating houses. I like having houses for my characters where they can live and I like decorating their houses in a way that reflects their personality.
I love to build up my characters, get them the gear I want, the "perfect look" (yeah, its like a tamriel barbie show!), and then roleplay with them, though I often find it difficult to meet the right people to RP with...
Same for my houses, I love decorating them, and hunting the stuff I need to decorate them, and so on...
I also get very excited any time there is a new solo DLC/Expansion full of new stories to experience! But duh, of course I would...
I am slightly troubled that I don't have a clear answer to this....
I used to enjoy a good dose of PvP, regular group dungeons and trials, the questing and simply running about picking up mats to refine and sell.
Lately with the exception of the rather well designed Summerset DLC I find I am not really doing these activities any more... PvP has become stale and my guilds don't really bother with it any more, similarly with dungeons/trials no-one seems to really bother any more at least not in my circle of people... I sort of enjoy hosuing and will probably have some fun with the Summerset house but that plus farming isn't really a long term recipe for fun....
Maybe I need to think about this a bit more especially with some intriguing single player games coming up over the next couple of years.... maybe it's time to start to break the ESO habit?
The community. I have made some great friends. I am always looking forward to the new DLC’s. I love the questing, and the dungeons. It’s all an adventure to me. Housing, crafting, and costume design. The game really is beautiful. I highly suggest taking the time to stop and watch the little cub bear play with the butterfly or the hunter pray over his hunt.
Questing through the vanilla story lines is my big fun factor but I'm also a big fan of fishing in the game. Its relaxing and fun for me cause I can make money off the roe and catch up on Netflix while doing it. xD
Hm... The forum and all this never ending whining! I love watching crybabies crying like babies. One of the best sources of unintentional humor I can think of. Better even than low level countryside politics.
Oh, and I like the people in my guilds too, playing with then makes this game cool. For the first 500 hours, it was lore, and then my friends.
Housing is definitely my favourite thing about the game, but I also really enjoy farming and trading, both to make money to feed my housing addiction and to gather materials to craft the furnishings whose recipes I have so painstakingly collected.
Questing is also great...I love a lot of the storylines, and the subtle little comments, items and things that are often slipped into quests and the world in general.
Memorable moments. Like last night when I did a vSpindle I and got paired with two dps that were still learning the game and dungeon mechanics. Well the two kept dying to the mechanics of the last boss ( the projectile and the pull into explosion thing) well it got to the point where healer died trying to Rez on of the dps. Well I went toe to toe with the whisperer as my tank, my only damage being pierce armor and dawnbreaker, eventually I got a Rez off on the healer and the two of us took down the whisperer after a few minutes. (I know this can happen with anyone it’s not too hard, the moment came after). After the boss, the healer was kind of mean and bailed right away. The dps both complimented me on my tanking skills and I told them they did well too. They said they kept dying and I said so did I when I was learning, it takes patience but you will learn in time. Then I provided some tips for the next time they run the dungeon and we just sat in the dungeon and chatted. They were two great people, with uplifting personalities, yes they Made the dungeon slightly harder but I’d rather play with enjoyable people and take a longer time to complete it, then a group of non-tolerant individuals trying to speed through it as fast as possible. Good memories!
Vet trials, and dlc dungeons. I enjoy the teamwork and coordination while playing the mechanics, and the feeling when you beat something for the first time or get a higher score. Also perfecting rotations and seeing big numbers.
The variety of stuff to do in this game is monumental! I should be CP780, but i can't stop leveling alts, or making gold, or farming (geez! farming for days). I farm gear. I farm mats. I try new builds. I spend 20 minutes trying to jump up on some random high place. I tank, heal, dps, support, sometimes on the same toon! I apparently LOVE getting my a** handed to me in Cyrodiill cause I keep comin' back for more.
I could go on. I love Elder Scrolls. ESO is a cool multiplayer version of a game franchise that I've been jammin' on for 15 years.
I used to love the combat and I still enjoy it to and extent because the system is unique but right now the only reason I still log in is because of the people.
