- Blocking (preventing any direct crit)
With the upcoming changes to shields in PVP I think we should expand the sources of resistance and give a softcap at 4500-5000, like have for physical or spell resistance, to prevent a total reduction. Potential sources include:
- A critical resistance mundus, combining spell & weapon damage on the warrior and using the apprentice (thanks to Xynode on this one)
- A new minor/major buff
- Applying the major/minor buff on underused pvp abilities like radiant mage like, expert hunter, and others.
- Applying the minor buff through sets like transmutation
- Possible potion replacement by combining weapon and spell crit traits on one, adding crit resist on the other
- Battle spirit adjustments on CP campaigns to assist low levels.
With new sources we may see more diverse builds come out in PVP rather than just a few traits.

Did you forget Transmutation?
Imho the solution is quite simple, increase the crit protection of impen

I included it to changes, I'll add it as a "source". It's limited solution in my view point as you'd always have to group with someone with it or you'd be required to wear it.

I won't go that road because we don't want super strong shields now that are crittable and carry your resistances. In fact I'm seeing a full patch of indestructible shields comming, which is kind of stupid. Shields were one of the few things that worked somewhat decent.
In fact, according to some people, they were pretty underwhelming sometimes.

I'm not sure what you mean by going down that road. This is just to address the issue with critical now effecting shields, which previously negated them. With this there are fewer active abilities that can be used to reduce crit, and my fear is we're going to see one trait or one set metas that kill what little build diversity we have.

Yes, but shields also had 0 resistance. Now shields with resistance need to go down at some point. Do we want sorc tanks running 25K resistance on a shield and without it? Because it's one of the ideas I have next patch

It's alright, you'll enjoy the tankiness but miss the damage.
I personally run Zaan on builds like this, Zaan + Wrath is interesting, maybe get a curse off during.
Though; I'm hard pressed to find an excuse to stop using my Stam characters
In fact I'm seeing a full patch of indestructible shields comming,

I tend to agree. Especially passive shields from sets, actions, or enchants. these are generally LARGER than heals from the same sources. How many sets give you a 5K heal every 5-6 seconds?
I can see builds with a constant proc of overlapping shields, each being around 20-35% more effective than they are today, with no investment into single use stats like +% healing or bastion. It may even be the Age of the Nord...with the 6% flat mitigation finally being worth something.

You know, I haven't tried this in a while and its not explicitly written out, so I will test this out again. Back when the fury set came out, I tried it out and noticed with a block build I wasn't getting any boosts with direct hits, only on DOTS (which can't be blocked). Since the current damage system only shows damage as "123*" when you block, I've not noticed any criticals coming in, but it could be they are critting but not showing up as such.
So apologies if I'm just mistaking the damage reduction as full critical resistance as well.

No, he's right, we need more crit resistance sources.
