improvements to the lackluster light attack.

the ability to weave light attacks basically determines whether or not you have good dps, and is largely useless for tanks and anyone who channels. It is also highly dependent on lag and is practically begging you to macro to make best use of it. It is shameful that such a minor ability counts for so much so my idea is to improve light attacks to the end that everyone can use them effectively without spamming or macroing, and provide eso's real strength (choices) to the ability.

improved light attacks.

instead of a single attack players will now have a choice of 8 different light attacks that can be selected the same system you use for selecting a potion (the wheel. You can change on the fly but can only use one at a time, just like potions) You get the basic light attack for free like now but you will have to earn the other attacks through the various types of gameplay.

Basic light attack - high dmg single target attack
Sweeping Attack - aoe light attack 120 degrees in front of you
Taunting Attack - a single target attack that will taunt the enemy for 6 seconds
Absorbing Attack - a single target attack that absorbs your lowest attribute pool
Defensive Attack- a low dmg single target attack that lowers the cost of your next block or roll dodge by 25%
Piercing attack - a low dmg pinpoint attack that has a +1340 penetration and +5% crit chance.
you fill in
you fill in

the critical part is that light attacks will be now on the same GCD as other skills so its no longer a filler attack but it is still a free attack.

a couple of minor changes to Nightblades might be required but for everyone else a greatly expanded utility of a mostly troublesome button.

The entire point of making light attacks so strong was to make it easier for new players.

And to shorten eso live streams because whoever they always have playing literally only knows how to light attack and makes the games combat super slow and boring to watch.

    No. Bad idea.

However, light attack damage vs heavy attack damage totally break my immersion. No to mention I can weave them so that 2h sword never hits the enemy but the damage registers. Bring back heavies that hit hard.

No thanks. That's pretty funny. Do you know how boring it is to press a button once a second. At least the light attacks mix things up. You have to time your presses and it becomes rewarding because it's pretty easy to lose you're rhythm. It's a nice balance and something to learn and operate instead of press 1 ->wait -> press 2 -> wait -> press 3.

Use a skill like overload on live and tell me how fun that is because that's what you're asking for.

neither my tank or healer use light attacks much at all. They get by just fine.

that's the whole point that light attacks are a skill that should be useful to everyone but in reality its only useful to dps.

looks more like a curse than anything fun. it has no real strategy, no choices, limited usefulness.

a waste of a button if you ask me.

I cant stand it that light attack weaving does more damage overall then medium or heavy attack weaving.

So your proposal is to make it take a button, you wouldnt be able to cast skills if you pressed light attack. That sounds like a waste to me. If you want to strictly light attack, play Wearwolf. Light attacks add a layer to the game. I don't see why you think making them line up with skills would make it more interesting. If you play tank and healer and don't find them useful, your missing out.

    no.

My proposal is to make it interesting to all classes and roles since its a basic ability. Balancing dps, decreasing lag and inhibiting macro'ers are positive side effects.

you can leave the buttonmashing cult whenever you want.
