Where will ESO be in 3 years?

With allot of new MMO's with similar combat and gameplay to ESO coming out, possibly a new TES game and just seeing ESO up against its current competition today,

Where do you guys think ESO will be in 3 years? What hopes do you for the game? What do you want to see/hope not to see? What content do you want added or improved?

I personaly think it will be interesting to see how eso holds up against games like ashes of creation and camelot unchained (to name two). In the past i felt thier was no game that was on par with eso but these new games could give it some serious competition. If the lag isnt fixed by the time these other games go live i think that could be a serious problem for eso.

I would love to see zenimax continue to add new skill lines and classes so the best part of eso (buildcraft) continues to be built on. I would also love to see huge performance fixes accross the board, especialy pvp. And maybe to see zenimax focus less on constant crown store advestisment and promotion.

I anticipate autopilot as attentions turn to other things.

There will still be a steady enough stream of new players to keep the lights on, but not enough to maintain the current level of play. More quickstart options will be provided in the Crown store (insta L50, etc) to help offset the grind.

It will still have a place, but even the greatest kings eventually get dethroned.

I imagine in there will be a lack of decent new content they can tap into eventually they will have made the whole world and have to start making other stuff. Another half dozen zones if they split them up right, 4 expansions a year including dungeons, hopefully it doesnt take that long to get the whole of the game world considering they were saying that you could play all of Tamriel 4 years ago when it launched, and we only just recently broke the 50%-60% mark.

It will still be around. As earlier poster said I would be suprised if there wasn’t more crown store catch up items like a instant level 50.

There is huge brand loyalty to Elder Scrolls, so I don’t see the new MMOs impacting it as much as the next elder scrolls - which will have a huge impact on population once out.

If they keep the quality of chapters up (Sunmerset was amazing) I don’t think there will be too much to worry about.

once all maps are filled with a DLC dungeon and trial and all the world circle is completed, things will slow down. Why do you think ES:VI is announced? it will come out when ESO will slow down

I think it'll hold up well against them because of the IP. ESO might not be king in gameplay forever but the lore and IP are so big that they'll always be a lot of people playing ESO.

I think in 3 years there will be 3 more chapters, and some DLC's, and mainland Tamriel will be very nearly complete.

3 years continued in current state.

    The game will be dead.
There will only be one useable class,
    The Nightblade.
All guild skills can be bought from crown store.
Instant levels and CPs from crown
    Graphics outdated
Still FPS issues and CPU bottlenecking with i8 and geforce 2000.

    Do I need too continue?

I think the game will continue to expand and improve as it has done consistently since launch. PvPers may think the sky is falling in on ESO but if they think that future games like CU are going to be launched with perfect balancing and servers then they're dreaming, and it's highly debateable how many will play a pure PvP title with a mandatory subscription for more than a few months before they get bored with the narrow focus and limited content of the game.

I suppose we're in line for another round of "such and such a game will bury ESO" from the hardline critics, but given their previous predictions about that being brought about by Wildstar (closing down) and ArcheAge ( more server mergers) I can't say I take any of that very seriously.

Ancient, tragic MMOs that look a few steps above OG Runescape are still around and kicking. ESO will have no problem.

All the upcoming MMOs in development (there aren't many) are very PVP centered, and are more likely to eat into other PVP-heavy games like BDO. And if you think they'll be bug-free, balanced and cash-shop-free you'd better lower your expectations.

Three Years, Three Chapters, 3 new mini-zones (including murkmire)... it'll be looking fairly filled up but not completely. I think they;ll have probably filled in the alikr desert and _either_ western or eastern cyrodiil. Maybe also something like the shivering isles will have been released as a chapter as well. They're going to need to add some oblivion chapters at some point to not fill up tamriel too fast. The mini zones... dont know, maybe another non-tamriel one, and two inside tamriel.

Hopefully spellcrafting, but lets not get our hopes up...

I hope they dont add easy level 50 pay to win stuff.. i like how eso has hard avoided pay to win so far.

I dont think they will fill the map for atleast 5+ more years, so much teritory left to cover and allot of the covered map is from base game. But once its full maybe they add new areas of oblivion?

All devs try to fix bugs. Some are easier to fix than others, not least given that some are extremely difficult to reproduce. People also hold wildly differing views of what constitutes a bug - for example, just because the RNG on an item or a particular skill work differently to how one player thinks they should work doesn't necessarily mean that they're bugged even tho' that player will report them as bugs and then complain when they're not "fixed" that no-one is doing any bug-fixing because they don't care.

Maybe its more of a shareholders dont want to alocate money here problem?
In all seriousness i have no idea, but i do think an eso dev would want bug fixes and possibly have an external factor out of thier controll that prevents it.

Cyrodiil as we know it will be shut down and it will be a battle royale zone.

Costume crafting will be a thing although very grindy: you'll harvest buttons and threads as rare drops and assemble the costumes from that (or buy them in the Crown shop, of course.)

Every city willl have a cat walk for the new way to level, fashionista competitions.

DLC with new motifs will come out every 2 weeks and won't be included with ESO+

sorry, just wanted to imitate some of the people already in this thread.

but in all seriousness, the game might be fine, it might not be. it's three years away and no one here can tell the future. so asking this can only produce speculation based on absolutely nothing.

I hope, that TESO will not become more like a popular culture product and ZOS team will develop more lore-wise interesting content. I hope, that at some moment more resourses will be moved into resolving technical issues, and less to managing the Crown Store. Also I hope, that they rework mount system and horses in particular (here I mostly means mistakes in the model), but this would be a very personal wish. Only hopes, I can't predict the future.

The game will still be alive and kicking, but looking a bit dated compared with games available in three years.

People (mostly PvPers) will leave but they will be disapointed. I cannot imagine that those games will be successful. They will need at least 2 years to fix performance and balance issues, offer more contant etc... like every MMO. Also a big point for someone could be the depth of skill and gears system of ESO. Not every MMO can offer the opportunities for theorycrafting.

Compared to ESO 3 years ago and current ESO and then looking at ESO in 3 years.

Pretty sure it'll be fine, a lot more balanced, a lot of issues will be fixed and probably a lot more content. Any new players that come to the game has an astonishing amount of content to do, a bunch of lore will probably be expanded on and who knows what other Chapters there will be. The better question is where will ESO be in 6-10 years

Depends on what the competition is like.

If all we're getting is more Korean P2W shovelware, ESO will still be there. If we get another good, non-grindy, non-sandbox (story-driven) action MMO, ESO might see a decline in population.

I know the PUBG team and Amazon are working on MMOs. Those are probably the only titles that have a chance of not sucking, so things are looking good for ESO.
