300 crown increase on mask pack...I see what you did there!

I have been waiting all month for the release of the new Reveries Operatic Mask Pack. I had put aside 700 crowns and was ready to log in today and buy them.....only to see that this pack is 1000 crowns. >:)

But, wait a minute, the mask set from last month.....the House of Reveries Mask Pack was only 700 crowns.

Really Zos??

Look I have always enjoyed buying masks and other unique cosmetic items from the crown store. Since I started this game 3 years ago, my boyfriend and I have spent crowns to buy mounts, motifs, pets and whatnot. We are both ESO+ members. But..I wish this company would realize that average income players have a set amount for their gaming budget!! It's like you don't even want my money....unless you can have it ALL...and unfortunately for you, my landlord gets the bulk of it!

I could add 300 more crowns to my account and buy the mask pack to help support my favorite game... but NOPE...not doing it this time!

I'm just irritated all these "masks" have hoods attached to them. Is it so hard to just overlay the mask over our characters' faces and scale them accordingly? These masks look cool but I hate how they all have hoods attached. So, this is a pass for me.

I'm baffled as to why this mask pack has a higher price in comparison to last month's version. The styles aren't even that different from the previous one, yet this is more expensive.

There's no logic behind the price hike aside from just being shady.

No one knows how they set prices. They probably don't know how the prices get chosen. All I know is that the mask I wanted was in the House of Reveries pack, and I got that already. I was going to pick up the new set, just because, but changed my mind.

If you have in game gold it'll be about 200k for the mask if you bought from someone

First one sold well, so ZOS marketing figured they could go for a bigger dip. This is what they have done for years with cosmetic items. And they don't care that people know it, they are gonna do it reguardless.

I cannot think of any instance where they have.

I am sure they are listening and watching, though. That is probably why the price was increased. There was too much interest in the other one and they realized they sold the first mask set too cheap. They probably want to raise the price of the other one, too.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me, as well. Murkmire will herald a new era in expensive Crown Store items that are not really anything more than what we have now, just costs more. It won't be a 10% increase, either. They will use this 10% boost in ESO Plus to start doing 40% price increases, like with the masks.

I hadn't noticed the increase because I didn't buy the last pack because that plain mask should have been a quest reward in my opinion, instead, for completing the house of reveries you got some random AD style hat. Now you've pointed it out, I wont be buying this pack either because that's taking the absolute p.

You go, hold your ground and do not buy it.

By the way, Zos does not and should not consider the average income of players. What they look at and most businesses look at is the revenue received vs the cost to design and manufacture in cases it is a physical item. Items are not really designed for the average customer.

Should Volkswagen consider the average income of their customers when pricing a Porche or even an Audi? Probably not since both are targeting a different crown than the Volkswagen models.

I think you will find that most items will have a increase in price because they are about to increase the monthly crowns for subs to 1650. Give with one hand take with another, Common sales tactic.

I totally agree, I have a very large disposable income due the the field and nature of my work. I am not a fool with my money, and I do enjoy treating myself regularly. But I refuse to pay 1000 Crowns for something similar, I got last month for 700 Crowns. I even thought 700 Crowns was steep for a cosmetic change to a characters head appearance in a virtual world!
In comparison to the price of 700 Crowns, I could spend the money on food for a whole day in the real world. It’s ludicrous!

I think I will be giving more money to feed the homeless from now on. Money better spent!

One way to look at this is that they want to sell more Crowns, so they want to increase the prices to force people to buy more Crowns. Those end-of-year bonuses don't pay for themselves, after all! More seriously, they need more revenue because it certainly looks like they have a big new game they are ramping up development on. ESO is the only thing making any money, so it gets to pay the freight.

They are being "nice" to the ESO Plus subscribers by giving us some extra Crowns to compensate. In fact,I expect more people to subscribe, which will increase revenue. I also expect the Crown Store price increases will be more than what ESO Plus hands out, so they will probably be looking for a net Crown revenue gain from both subscribers and non-subscribers.

I wouldn't mind in the least and would find it a great value.... IF we had 50% off crown sales, which we do not. So everything in the store will and always will be a total rip off.

So you also understand that various outfits have different price points, and this is evident when you dye them? The more expensive outfits take a far richer color when dyed than the cheaper ones. The cheaper masks dye ok. The set from this week are far, far richer in color when dyed. This is how things have always worked. This is not some new phenomena. If you are ticked because you assumed the price based on other sets and can't afford 1000 crowns well, that's unfortunate. But this isn't any different than any other set they've released.

No, I am saying that if it is the exact same breed of horse from the exact same region and the only thing different in the two horses is that one has a brown nose and the other has a pink nose.....the price should be the same.

I can afford it, I just refuse to pay an extra 300 crowns for an item that is exactly the same as the previous one, except for a change in color.

I'm not sure why you are associating/comparing the purchase of a Porche with the purchase of some virtual pixels but ok :)
