First videogame for me was Pacman. Loaded from a tape cassette into an Intel 8086 Sharp home computer (running a BASIC interpreter 5,25 " floppy bootdisk) using a 10" TV as a display. High resolution indeed.

MMOs lets us meet people from places that are not always easy to get to. That's why I like them

    i think it was:
    Vintage Asteroids

however, i am not sure if i did 1st play Vintage caveman.
that was a long time ago, so is hard to exactly pinpoint the very 1st.

i like MMO's because is much more realistic compared to singler player and is real life people to play with instead of NPC.

My very first game was probably the pinball game on the old windows computers, or maybe minesweeper, but the game I do remember playing is Super Smash Bros Melee on the Gamecube, which then sparked my interest in the nintendo universe.

I got interested in mmo's due to everyone playing Runescape when I was a child, so I played it too. But after a while, I moved on to try several different asian mmo's, such as Perfect World Online, and eventually settled on Eden Eternal for about a year or two. After my guild fell apart, I moved on and could not find a game to keep my interest due to being a solo player with no interest in endgame raiding. But now I'm sitting comfortably in a trading guild, in an elder scrolls mmo, and I don't know what would get me to leave.

I started with an NES and an old beige Macintosh computer, which makes me a little bit younger than some of you folks. I can't remember exactly which game I picked up first. I remember spending lots of time playing that NES and watching my brothers play Quest For Glory on the Macintosh (I was the youngest). As for why I like MMOs. . . I'm really not a fan of the format, actually. I like the exploration and character progression, and the mounts and cosmetics, and the dungeons, but I think there's a lot of unnecessary minutiae, and I also think MMOs tend to be very sanitized. (My favorite game is Bloodborne, if that offers any perspective.)

Duck hunt and Mario on NES. But that age of maybe four years old, I didn’t really like Mario like I did duck hunt. First game that really captivated me was metal gear on the NES. First RPG was final fantasy 7. First MMO is well... ESO. I always avoided social gaming. I saw ESO on sale recently and got it. Was blown away by the amount of solo content. Been addicted since.

It was either LOOM or Duke Nukem on my brothers pc. I think. Maybe it was a pocket pet like a tamagotchi? I don’t remember. No wait, it was maybe Oregon Trail on 4 actual floppy disks.

I like mmos because even though I play solo and as a loner it’s fun to see other people and be in a “society”. I don’t play the trading game like some people do but I think that aspect adds depth to my experience. Oooh I found this thing that I’m not going to use! In a single player it’s 10 gold to the merchant. In a multiplayer it may be worth thousands to the person who was grinding for it. Also I like people watching. Seeing the variety of avatars and how people conduct themselves is a thought experiment that never gets old. Yes I’m studying humanity and you all delight and disappoint in equal measure.

Since then we always been together whenever a new MMO came out. It was a way to be together away from each other. Now though, we all busy. I want to say pong.

    Y'all can skip the rest.

I remember that big yellow box in the Michael's New York Pizza right next to where the bookmobile would park every other Thursday. I don't think I played it a lot because Flicks (chocolate) were more enjoyable for a polyester clad boy in the mid 70s.

We had most consoles when I was growing up. We had a Magnavox, Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800 as well as the 800 "computer". We had a Colecovision but by then I was more into programming in Basic. We had Commodore Vic 20, Commodore 64 and an Amiga 128. We had a Texas Instruments TI-99 4A with voice synthesizer and a 2400 baud modem. My first PC was a TRS-80 that had a whopping 10MB hard drive.

While this is my first MMO, I have played MUDs but the number one reason for ESO is that I love TES.

Pacman my mom was a gamer, she still schooled me some days. She be like don't you see the patterns! This how it's done! I like I just want to see pretty animations or let's kill it. The irony is she calls me the logical one.

I always wanted to play a game with friends not just my 3 brothers at last. It's hard getting other girls to play videogames or so is my excuse why I never got invited to any reindeer games. Though fun fact only partues I ever went to in college was -Sports ones so guess that sorta counted.

As to say eventually I was looking for something to use my gift cards one Christmas years ago. I remembered the sense of making my own adventure with Skyrim so I took a chance even though reviews were really really discouraging. I was I pressed the moment I started the game that I clicked wrong class Sorc when I meant to be bosmer nightblade ( so things make sense now right?) At last I fell in love with and started adventure.

So why I like MMOs would be the people but besides neopets, and Pokemon, I have not been enchanted with a game this long. Just saying @Zos has done a wonderful job.

Oregon Trail a million years ago in grade school. First "real" game, original Mario, my bff got it when it first came out, and I was terrible at it. OMG I had so much trouble timing my stupid jumps and she used to laugh hysterically at me when I would get mad af and just run right off the edge on purpose. To this day, I hate games that make me jump over ledges. The library quest in Coldharbor gave me flashbacks haha.

I managed to avoid MMO's until this one. I knew I would like them too much, and here we are. I always have things to do. The people are awesome. The game is beautiful and so many of the quests are interesting and fun. Basically, I'm hooked.

depends on what your standards for video game are. the very VERY first game I played that wasn't some sort of early arcade game - was snake. you know the game where you have a pixel snake moving around the small square, eating and adding to its length while trying not to eat its tail. for whatever reason my dad had it installed on his work machine that otherwise existed solely as proto laser cutter, but you know, but without the lasers and rather mechanical saws, so I played it a bit when they had "bring your kids to work" days.

the first video game I played that actualy got me into gaming was Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis. we got a brand spanking new computer lab donated to out highschool, waaay back before the pentium. no idea who installed the game on one of the computers, but one of my classmates showed it to me and pretty much entirety of my recess was spent playing this game.

why do I like MMO's? honestly, I'm not entirely sure. I don't like all MMO's. I like MMO's that remember that they are also rpg's. I like stories (and I don't mind reading quest text to get those stories, since when I first started playing video games, text is all you get, no voice overs), and I guess I like being able to share enjoyment of those stories and just having general selective social interaction that I can chose to participate in, or not - while playing the game. you know... now that I think of it... my early video gaming was never really solitary. I didn't get a personal pc for a long long while, and I didn't experience any console gaming until after I got married (and then it was mostly golden eye on nintendo 64 :P with split screen. I was awful), so I either played in arcades, or in some sort of lan labs, whether it was at school (first highschool, then college) or private labs where you paid for lab acess. i think that's why mmo's generally appeal to me. even when its solitary playing - it isn't not really.

P.S. my first mmo, mundanely was WoW :P I tried Everquest at friend's house, but didn't really get into it. before that I mostly played solo, or small scale multiplayer stuff, but in company with other people.

Super Mario Bros on the NES was the first one I remember, but I probably played something earlier than that.

I like MMOs because of the ability to grow as a character that I designed over years instead of the predetermined character of most single players or limited storyline of those games. I like an evloving game that I can't really "finish".

I think my first game was Hungry Horace on the ZX Spectrum. I can't be sure exactly because I was "playing" that thing from about the age of 2. I distinctly remember being fascinated with the squishy rubber buttons and the rainbow on the corner of the keyboard, then at some point later the dawning realisation that I could control the TV by pushing the buttons. But Hungry Horace is the first game I really remember playing on it.

My first MMO was Ultima Online. At the time the idea of playing a game online with dozens or hundreds of other people seemed amazing. Although weirdly my sister, who was 7 when we got it, was actually better at it than me. She never just stayed in town crafting and had a whole blacksmith's business going, and a wedding business on the side with another girl - they'd recommend venues, provide decorations, at least once even provided the guests and performed the ceremony. (Unfortunately she would also scam newbies - really blatantly - tell them she was a GM and they should send her their starter items to check they were right, then she'd log out or teleport away. I kind of feel like if you're scammed by a 7 year old you deserve it, but we were sharing an account so my brother and I put a stop to it.)

I like MMOs because of the unpredictability of having other people around. You never know what conversations or situations you're going to run into (especially with my guilds) or what's going to happen around you. I play them pretty much like single-player games most of the time because when I'm on and how long I'll have is very unpredictable so I can't commit to playing with a regular group, but I like the additional element of having other people around.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

I couldn't tell you what the first digital/computer/video game I played was. It was probably something in an arcade.

I don't actually like MMOs. I strongly prefer immersive, single player games, especially RPGs. The only reason I picked up ESO was because it's also an RPG. I played the game as a single player RPG for around the first year. That's still how I play, the majority of the time.
