What happened to the bot discussions?

I went to Stros M'Kai early in the morning and there was a level 2 crouched on almost every single node, I guess this is just an influx of new players who came for the farming only.
I reported all of them, for all the good it'll do.

Maybe a system like on the Dolmens? If you have zero deviation on a plan after lets say 5 minutes it puts a damaging debuff on you till you deviate? Or one that will warn you, give you a chance to respond, then teleport you back to your starting city. I member back in the day on Everquest, you would get a direct message from GM's and if you did not respond, bam! They would also talk to you regarding reports. Good old days...

Can somebody explain to me what the problem with bots is all about? Isn't it easier to just ignore them?

It's against the rules. Plain and simple.

Why should they get a free pass? How are they special so that they get to break the rules and get away with it?

If I want to play within the rules, I can't run a bot like they do. I have to sit there in front of my computer the entire time I play and press buttons. I can't be getting XP and Mats while I am at work, or play other games.

If I do run a bot, and try to get away with it, and ZOS comes along and bans my account, how does that help me?

Call me selfish for wanting them to adhere to the same rules that I have to.

I have seen this more often, but hesitate to report it because I can't tell what is going on. They could be sitting there manually harvesting when the node appears, or they could have auto-loot turned on and the Harvest button taped down.

For those on PC who are interested and want to easily report Bots here is an addon that will do just that for you.

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1818-BotScanner2000.html

It was just updated so works with the latest DLC and is super easy to use. It will scan the players you want to scan and input all the necessary data into the Tickets for you. Very very simple to use!

Can't say I care much if someone is using a bot or not. It doesn't directly hurt you anyhow? So they might level up and get mats faster than you, tough beans. Seems more like senseless crying imo (unless there really is a way in which you are actively being hurt, in which case I do see why this is a problem).

If they run a bot program and it isn't detected by zos, what else do you think is getting by?

Bots affect me when I try to farm mats, they affect the cost of mats.

It's no different than sieging the glitched postern as opposed to just running in. It's cheating and against TOS. It doesn't matter if you don't find a problem with it.

Greetings, as stated in our forum rules here, we do not permit the discussion of moderation action. This includes closed threads. For this reason, we have decided to close this thread as well.

As for the previously mentioned thread, naming and shaming is taken very seriously on the ESO forums and is not tolerated. Mainly due to the reasons provided above. Members who are in fact, not cheating, may be targeted for harassment in game and on the forums if they have been publicly singled out as a "cheater". The best way to deal with bots you encounter is to report them either in game or in a support ticket where you can provide as much information as possible. This way the reported accounts can be reviewed and you can avoid jeopardizing your forum account by naming and shaming.
