So, there was a bot discussion and now it seems it's been closed. So, is zos deleting the bot posts? Is it that bad they want to hide the problem?

Bots are automated players, so they count as players.

You shall not name and shame other players, no matter how seriously they are cheating.

If this were known by the public, ZOS would have to reduce the number of active accounts, and the shareholders hate that.

    Wait ... isn't it public? >:)

Topics about bots and cheaters is bad publicity so they get locked and deleted on a regular basis on these forums.

    corrected
& this is in the TOS you agree to using the forum and probably why the thread is locked

Oh, I didn't name anybody. I mean you can go to any number of locations and find bots.

All we want to know is what Zos is doing about it? If nothing, then it seems it is OK to use bots. But, if they make a statement about getting rid of bots, I think this will satisfy a lot of people.

The fact the don't say anything about it boggles my mind

You could always start posting videos of the botters on Twitter and start tagging some of the Youtubers that do video game news. SidAlpha, Jim Sterling, Yonyea, Boogie2988 guys like that maybe.

Well, if it was a thread with video in it that identified accounts, that’s against the rules so it would be deleted. Or if it was a petition, those get deleted too. In any event, the mods don’t owe us any explanation when it comes to enforcing the forum rules.

This thead is still here https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5389778#Comment_5389778

The only other I’ve seen recently was breaking the forum rules, so obviously it would be removed.

I have roported bots and the people running up to them to trade and nothing happens...forever...I go to the spot again another time and see them...get pissed and pull everything on them and they die...spend an hour there doing it...never see them there again. It is really bad during double node spawns in dlc celebrations...no adds to kill them next to resources.

But, that was my solution and resolution to in game rage...ps4 na...everytime I see them I make sure they die somehow...

It may have to do with the naming and shaming policy since there was a video with account and character names on the bot discussion.
Please remember to not show character or account names when reporting exploits/cheating on forum.
If you make a video, it is always best to hide the character/account names.
Some videos I recorded for fun: Main character:
PC EU main: Universe - AD magicka Sorcerer, Former Emperor, Grand Overlord, The Merciless, Trial Bosses Solo Champion
Top alts: Genius(stamina/sagicka Dragonknight) The Force(stamina Nightblade) and other chars.
PC NA main: The Magic - AD magicka Sorcerer

This "no name shaming of cheaters" policy is absolutely ridiculous. Why let the cheaters remain anonymous and continue unhindered with what they're doing? If someone is proven to be cheating then they should be humiliated for everyone to see - that just might prevent some of them from doing it again.

I gave up reporting bots a long time ago. There's not much point in it if nothing happens to them and zos have policies that protect them...

It's not about the people who are cheating. It's about the people who are not cheating, but find their name posted here because some troll is telling lies. Happened right here in this forum a couple years ago.

Besides, bot reports need to be in Tickets, not in the forum. The people who deal with the bots won't see the reports in here. It is an inefficient way to report bots.

Yes, ZOS does take action against bots. At least, on PC/NA. Many disappear, never to return. Don't expect them to be quick about it. Don't expect them to agree that every bot report should end with a ban. Some obvious bots can run for months before they disappear, and I have no idea why that is the case.

    @lordrichter tickets, that's funny.

I can't count how many I've sent only to see nothing was done.
Bots were still in the same places, same bots. People using bot programs still there.

The tickets just keep bot problem out of sight. Forum puts it out in the open for everyone to see and discuss.

I mean, how many people have placed tickets and see the same results, nothing done

I had a recent incident that is worth considering. I've found a place with 9 nodes on a relatively short respawn timer. After a bit of camping, I had it down to where once the 'first' one spawned, I'd reach each successive node just as it spawned in. Some player came in, and after he found out he was not able to beat me to the spawns (not knowing the pattern I was traveling in) he reported me for being a bot. Basically, what with log files and whatnot, I can imagine how the powers that be saw this - some newb whining that he could not beat another player to a node, so since newb couldn't imagine he wasn't the bestest, the other had to be cheating.

He was actually lucky to get a shot in at the boss, as I also knew the 2 spawn triggers (albeit there was also a random spawn factor) but since I was more interested in the resources at that time, I didn't bother with tripping the triggers, and let them spawn the boss randomly.

As was mentioned above, just because you THINK someone is cheating does not mean they are. You just might not be as awesome as you think you are.

Like I said, they do take action, but it is slow. Tickets are the only way that happens, unless some employee comes across the bots that has the power to deal with it, or have it dealt with.

The thing is, and why I resumed reporting bots, that the number of tickets apparently matters. Every time you go past a bot that I reported, but you do not, the smaller the chance that they will deal with it. Dealing with bots in this game is apparently a popularity contest. That's the best way I can describe it. The most popular bots are dealt with first.

Of course, this begs the question that if the other players don't really care, why should I?

I would love it if the Studio were aggressive and proactive against all forms of cheating, including bots. Then, I would not have to report anything. They aren't, and so I do. Sad reality.

For PC, the easy ones are usually running in a line killing mosters in a loop that circles back after they respawn. This can either be bots or multiboxers, but the ones I see are usually independent bots. Either way, it is against the ToS and they can be reported.

The harder ones are solitary node farmers. They don't stand out, and so they are hard to find. I would imagine these are rarely reported.

I would likely mistake the first one for someone running around trying to level up. Do they have any distinguishing features, so to speak? Like maybe dodgy looking names (saying that I've seen some genuine characters with odd names anyway).
