Are Champion Points Enabled In Duels?

Hello, I Recently Learned That "Champion Points", Which Are Essentially A Lot Of Powerful Passives available To Level 50+ Characters Are Shared To All Characters Whether They Are Above 50 Or Not.

Now, I Recently Lost A Duel Against Someone 11 Levels Below Me And I Could Barely Dent Her Health And I Blew Up So Quickly. This Doesn't Seem Right To Me, Because We Were Both Sorcerors.

So, Are Champion Points Enabled In Duels? I Would Like To Know This. Otherwise It Makes No Sense!

Actually not too sure about duels, I would assume they are.

As for getting bombed by a lower level, they may have been in all gold set gear, which with battle levelling can be extremely powerful in the right hands.

Yes, of course champion points are active in duels if you previously allocated them on your char.

Beware, low level benefits from a huge rescaling of the ressources and spell/weapon damages... So, a well equipped low level with max cp and a full purple 2x 5 items sets will hurts you a lot !

ps: Zeni, would be great to have an option to temporarily (freely!) disable the cp btw, as this would be nicer than not eating food against a weaker opponent...

Levels mean little if you don't know your build etc

Yeah, but you cannot duel in Kyne, Bg and sotha Sil...

Btw Beardimus, what you think of my suggestion to have a free switch made so that you can turn the CP on/off in function of your mood? (Could make some sense while questing or for duels against novice opponents)

Her Title (Not Her Name) Was "Battle Ground Butcher" So I suspected she had lots of experience, but when I asked her she told me she had no CP. I guessed she was lying but did not bring it up, and while I obviously still can't prove it, you've all helped restore my confidence! I'm not that terrible, she just likely had CP!

I suspected she was using CP because:
1. The duel was very hard, no amount of dodging/blocking helped me survive and my damage wasn't as threatenng.
2. She had a "Battleground Butcher" title implying she had PvP experience
3. She had a very snazzy outfit, I don't know how to unlock snazzy outsfits, she has more exeperience
4. I recognized her name (but will not repeat it here) and while she was good I did beat her in a battleground earlier.
5. She challenged me!

Is there any way to tell if someone has CP available or not? This hidden information blew my mind when I first heard of them. As a New Player, being completely destroyed when you have no way of understanding how outmatched you are even if they are lower level than you is very demoralizing. Is there any way to tell when new players have CP?

End game is a lot about specialisation, and you'll never be the best on every domains of this game. So if you are a new player, you better learn to live with this fact, work hard on levelling and gathering better equipment, and learning - and you can still refuse duels if you don't want to!

I am working hard on Leveling (I just got my first level 50 character 10 minutes ago, I have not clicked on Champion points yet!) all I want to know is when should I be humble and admit I have room for improvement and know when I had no chance because they have hidden advantages. Thank you very very much!

Do it, you received 10 CP for reaching lvl 50, the first ones are really fast to grind (especially if you run a random dungeon from time to time using the tool) - and every champion point makes it better!

In addition to the CPs, a lot of passives (from your class, weapons and guilds - like the undaunted) will help you progress. You will need to gather a lot of skyshards or do a lot of quests to unlock those passives - i doubted you got all that ready right now!

This was my point: i) Most of us got a lot of room for improvement (regardless of the lvl etc), ii) even when materially evenly matching your opponent, she/he can destroy you being better trained and using sever anima-cut for example, and finally iii) in your case, i wouldn't lose energy to instal an addon giving you such information about CPs etc when it is obvious you better grind at least 160 CPs yourself (cp 160 is the max lvl for any equipment in the game), prepare some definitive build (there's lot of videos/guides on the net, depending of your character and if you want to do pvp/pve), train and enjoy the game meanwhile!

Wow, thank you so much @Nayawin14! I opened that menu and I am in love, it is so satisfying to allocate those points! I'm currently following an Alcast build, thanks to him and insightful community members like you I think I'm all set! Thank you!

enjoy the new world @Shraar couple of pointers which will help!

1. get to CP160. After that point your gear is 'end game'. So while you are CP 10,20 etc the gear you get will be outleveled fast, once past CP160 that same gear is good ALL the way to CP780!
2. Look at the CP passives as whilst you are earning the CP unlocking the key ones (CRIT chances etc) is really key

BattleGrounds is noCP, so if you want to learn yout craft away from CP, thats the place. But still bare in mind you will now get put in L50+ BG which are harder than the 1-49 ones. But you can learn, get your gear sorted (things like Impen / Crit restistance etc) and learn your skills. and then the CP comes in as a bonus.

Yes, they are enabled in duels AFAIK.

However, a level discrepancy should not equal to combat advantage.
A level 10 character can beat the crap out of a lvl 50+ CP 600 character.

All players are "battle leveled" meaning everybody is approximately the same at all times.
