Should there be only one event at a time since server performance is so bad in both pve/pvp?

I hate timed events tbh, they make you feel like you are obligated to play the game, having 2 at the same time (technically 3 atm with the timed CoH outfit stuff) is very frustrating to get all the stuff done.

They should limit timed events to 2/year. Otherwise the events don't feel like a fun special thing but like a tedious grind.

One of each at least. Right now we have one pvp event and two pve events.

I don't think throwing 2 large events that put some strain on the server at the same time was the best idea. However, I think they purposefully put off the IC anniversary event until Midyear Mayhem is over. I imagine that would have put a sh*t ton of strain on pvp.

I have a feeling that midyear mayhem was delayed while they were trying to fix sever issues. But still. It's hard to be in 2 places at once

I don't have a problem with two events overlapping, provided they are catering to different types of play. Those who enjoy both may find it frustrating, but there's no inherent reason why e.g. PvPers shouldn't have an event because PvEers are enjoying one at that time.

That said, in the present case we do know that Midyear Mayhem was delayed, if I remember rightly.

I think someone is assuming one event at a time would have an affect on server performance. Very unlikely anything noticeable.

Unless OP means that he/she would avoid PvP during the PvP event and avoid PvE during a PvE event. That is the only logical means to avoid a dip in performance. Cyrodiil operates on different physical servers than Orsinium.

I don't have a problem with two events at the same time, as long as they are one PVE and one PVP event.

Wouldn't 2 events in different areas of the game spread players out and increase performance?

Im not actually having any problems with the servers for one, but i said yes to only one even at a time for 2 reasons. The first is you end up missing out on one trying to do the other. I need ap to buy a gold ring but doing so I am missing out on the wrothgar event. The second is these events are a big way to keep the player base engaged, noone wants to take time off from playing eso when theirs an event due to the feeling like their missing out. So having to separate events keeps the player base engaged longer. Even if there are some that arnt interested in one event there will aways be players that both events hold interest for and this allows them to keep those players active for both events time.

I would say Yes, but not for server performance. That is an issue even during 1 event. Instead, I'd say 1 event at a time more for the idea that a player shouldn't have to choose which of 2 separate events to participate in, and also because multiple events at one time waters down the specialness of each...

Yes though we are not really expected to understand how gaming servers work so misunderstandings like this thread will occur.

There are other reasons to suggest such a thing, but this is not one that is supported by logic hence the poll is useless..

Yes, because you have to choose. Generate AP and get Pelinial's boxes, or run MA and farm mats. Can't do both at once.

Both events on their own, is going to tank the server, because the server just isn't built well. Megaserver was a mistake.

That implies that there's a single piece of hardware comprising the megaserver, which isn't the case. A megaserver will consist of many individual servers covering different parts of the game. As has been said already, the PvP servers are separate from the PvE ones.

I get hyped for an event but when its time to participate I give priority to all the other stuff that I can do any other time. Procrastination gets the best of me.

Wouldn't 2 events in different areas of the game spread players out and increase performance?

I would not say that performance would be increased, but there would be less negative impact.

Even so, the first day or two of the event can be expected to slam the megaserver at whatever location it is being held, like Midsummer did. ZOS does not provision, or provision enough, for the start of the event, and that shows when everyone has to be in the same place for the event. Costs money to do that, and they still need more bricks of gold to stack between the desks as walls.

I have no performance issues even after a 6 hr run in Cyrodiil so dont have any problem with them doing 2 events at 1 time.

This is the only way the will be able todo it from now on in as we are getting more and more content

I don't know if your premise is exactly true here, I think they had the other events in parallel to mid-year mayhem to take pressure off the mega server by load-balancing players into different sub-servers. If all they had was MYM good chance Cyrodiil would have been a real mess.

Don't care. I no longer care whether I get the double drops or not, since it's mostly junk anyway. So I've avoided Orsinium in favor of less populated zones.

However I now play mostly pvp event, so there are couple of days of Orsinium event lost to me.
