There's a keybind in settings for toggle controller on/off. I walk up to merchants with controller, hit ` to go keyboard, E key to browse with mouse and Master Merchant/AGS, then Alt to leave merchant view, ` to restore controller & move along. Sounds complicated but it's easy.

I do the same thing I found it easy straight away didn't have to adapt too much. I can not play FPS on the sticks totally useless at it but this game is different in a way the sticks are easier.

Having not played on or used a controller in decades, lol, I am a K&M type guy till a friend gave me a Logitech G13.
I was really intimidated at first by it, but now I can't even play on a regular key board. Lmao!
Paired this with a multi-button mouse so I can do TS, swap weapon & dodger roll with mouse, makes for a great set up. :)

I have shoulder issues too. I got a MagicHold keyboard stand that attaches to my chair. It puts the keyboard right at hand height. This removes all strain from my shoulders, elbow and wrists.

Thank you SO much for this!^
Have been looking for something like this! Awesome!!

I use the exact same game pad and multi button mouse. Love them! That little joystick is the best.

Works great. At least for me it does. I use the little joystick with my thumb to control character movement and programmed the G15 - G19 keys for the 1 - 5 skill bar. Other keys are also programmed for things like jumping, bar swapping, horse mounting, sprinting, ect. You can program the keys to whatever is comfortable for you. The wrist rest is very helpful also as it helps keep my hand in a comfortable position for those times I play for hours straight.

Xbox Elite controller can be fully customizable with Win 10, works with Win 7 but must use ESO controller support or a 3rd party = xppander.

I am not home to actually look at it so going by memory I would say it comes up about an inch from the base.

As @Kagukan said, you can program all your actions to whatever keys you like.
If you look at the pic, there is a set of 4 keys kinda at the top, M1, M2, M3.
    These are "shift" type keys.
    Example:
My M1 setting is general game play. G4 key is "W" with the WSAD set up same. I use those for just running around.
When in combat, I drop my hand slightly, put thumb on joy stick and move with that and have my skill 1-5 on the G15-G19 keys.
Things like inventory, map, mount, weapon, etc are set to the other keys and are easy to access.
The joy stick also has a "Push Down" button that I use for sneak in PvP. The "E" key is just left of Joy Stick so it is always just under my thumb.
The M2 settings is like a whole another keyboard.
    Example:
In M2 mode, my G1 key is my 1st guild chat, G2 officers chat, G3 my 2nd guild chat, etc.
My zone, say, yell, group, etc are set to a key on M2 settings...
The M3 settings I have all e-mote. Play lute, Laugh, Cheer, etc...
Each "M" mode has 25+ keys available to pre-set.
Plus the screen will show me my CPU and RAM usage..

Hope this explains it a little....
    :) Huzzah!
