    Templar
    • Dawn’s Wrath
      • Radiant Destruction: Increased the maximum bonus execute damage dealt by this ability and its morph to 400% from 330%.
      • Solar Flare
        • Dark Flare (morph): Decreased the duration of the Major Defile debuff to 4 seconds from 6 seconds.
        • Solar Barrage (morph): Removed the cast time from this ability, and decreased the damage done by approximately 40%.
      • Sun Fire: Decreased the duration of the snare from this ability and its morphs to 3 seconds from 5/9 seconds.
    • Restoring Light
      • Healing Ritual
        • Ritual of Rebirth (morph): Fixed an issue where you could dodge the secondary heal from this ability.
      • Rune Focus:
        • This ability and its morphs now apply Major Ward, Major Resolve, and all morph effects to you directly for 15 seconds.
        • Standing within the area of effect now increases the Major Ward and Major Resolve effects by 50%.
        • Increased the cost of this ability and Restoring Focus to 2700 Magicka from 1890.
          • Channeled Focus (morph): Increased the cost of this ability to 1891 Magicka from 1080.
          Developer Comments:
The new design of Rune Focus more closely matches the fast action combat, while still preserving the original feel of an area of protection.

This is a buff to the execute, and a nerf to defile and snare. To be fare defile and snare are taking a hit everywhere, so it isn't a nerf to the class alone, but a choice to balance gameplay.

I wonder how helpful the excute buff will be because as is most people heal right through it even at very low health unless there being attacked by other people

Also keep in mind the strength of a spec can be a very relative concept. Depending on how other specs are performing in comparable roles.

I'd describe the rune focus buff as a pretty darn strong QOL buff.

This looks like the notes from 4.1.0. The notes from 4.1.2 show another increase for Radiant Destruction and an adjustment to the duration and cost of Rune Focus.

I assume the notes are sequential, does this mean that the adjustments in 4.1.2 are likely?

Yes, I'd go with the 4.1.2 notes for now. The only other thing we have heard rumors about is that the damage on solar barrage might get further adjustments. (Getting rid of the channel was good, making it hit like a wet noodle was not so good).

Those are old notes. Check the PTS forum for the latest patch notes. Radiant Destruction got buffed even more and Channeled Focus got buffed. Solar Barrage might get tweaked to be better as well.

Rune is technically still a nerf of the *possible* max regen, but is a big QoL improvement for simplifying the armor buff and adding mobility. I like the latest(final?) changes.

Radiant is buffed mostly for PVE without, I think, putting it back to it's original lol-ness in pvp.

Barrage is kind of a wash. More useable but took a big damage nerf.

Radiant is such a tricky ability to balance for PvP...I may make a radiant-centric build next patch just to see what it can cheese for. Something like Soulshine+war maidens+Skoria (or the new "ult spent" monster set). Sweeps, soul assault, radiant...

I ran a magtem in beta because it was the OP solo build at that time. I rerolled him at game launch. I still have him. However shortly after launch ZOS decreed that a great nerfing should befall all of the land and that templars should be beset with nerfing farts of Molag Bal. So it therefore came to be. My primary toon, Yancius, a stalwart fellow and lead off character in every MMO since Ultima, became little more than a dank and fetid mule. He today, despite a respec as a stam, stares out at me upon the login screen in abject despair and righteous condemnation at the frivolity of his creation by me and his subsequent neutering by ZOS.

Oh how he longs to traipse amidst the glories of Tamriel once again! Yet he has been beaten down too long and too far to believe in the false hope of a saving buff.

The damage was craptastic when it had a cast time. There were situations where the multiple empowers were useful even with a cast time (bombing), so at least there is that.

Oddly, fextralife is reporting that empower is now 40%. Is that a typo or did they double it after removing might of the guild's empower?

Empower IS 40% on live. And they didn't remove it from might of the guild.

It just only applies to light attacks rather than "your next attack," so it's a lot more limited in scope.

...if they removed it from MotG in PTS notes, I missed that.

Ah, in the past they renamed skills completely after such a large change.

So, solar barrage is useful for nothing.

Its one of those buffs that kinda should have happened a while ago. And its not really that massive, just allows you to keep an already used ability up longer/easier. The radiant buffs were the large ones since it brought a near never used ability up to competitive level.

    It will be interesting...

It's a pretty big buff if you ask me. All classes got some form of protection. For Templars it's the heal, but in pvp your heals are reduced and your major ward and major resolve are too unreliable to keep them up 100% of the time (DKs don't struggle with this and neither do Wardens). Personally I am really looking forward to this change.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
