Pet sorc here. I have been running 62k magic pool.

I switch to mothers sorrow and twice born star. For the thief and shadow. Made a crit build. Not impressed. I may switch tbs for juley and a different mundas see what happens.

Wish i had a test dummy so i really knew what was better.

Just from combat meteics and killing over land. The hi magik pool seems the way to go.

I still run all my gold Juli/Infal/Illambris from forever ago. Not BiS but I do just fine.

There are many, many potential setups that work with Mag Sorc

I believe Alcast recommends 5 Srioria, 5 Mech Acuity, Asylum Frontbar, Maelstrom Backbar
Valrien Dravic -- Level 50 Dunmeri Sorcerer (EP)
Garahel Dravic -- Level 50 Bosmeri Nightblade (EP)
Tamriel Unlimited was a mistake. One Tamriel was a bigger mistake

I run on a basic jullianos / mother’s sorrow (sometimes swapped for burning spellweave). Currently trying to grind Illambris head and shoulders with little luck lol

Does an ok job, not BiS but def good enough

I use Illambris, Julianos and Necropotence, full sets *both staffs Julianos so when I switch bars I don't lose bonuses. I'm not the best DPS by any means but I get through vet content just fine. I think last time I ran a parse it was 32k~ with spell enhancing potions helping out.

Like I said not the best, but easy to cobble together and more than functional.

I'm running siroria, necro and ilambris, since they were easy to get. Not going past the 20k dps without pots though. *Goes to cry in a corner*

Xynode recommends Infallible Aether, Grothdarr, and (yes, you read this correctly) Undaunted Infiltrator. And I can confirm this setup is devastating.

Personally I usually run Mother's Sorrow, Julianos, and Grothdarr on my magsorc.

I’m often asked about decent pet builds for VMA/Trial/Dungeon runs that DON’T utilize a VMA Staff.

The following is a 36k+ build featuring Necropotence, Mechanical Acuity, and Llambris.

    https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/makemeuhsamich/video/56637748

I was using Haunting Curse since I use it in PvP and didn’t want to re-morph. If using Daedric Prey, cast it each rotation.

I’d replace Elemental Drain with Empowered Ward in situations where it’s already provided. The Matriarch gives amazing burst heals in a pinch, too.

CP, Mundus, etc. are at the end. Hope it helps!

Yeah it's pricey if you try to buy yourself, guild prices on Necro stuff are insanity but if you don't mind kicking back in Overland for a few hours it isn't too bad to build up a nice and healthy selection of pieces to choose from.

Only worth it with perfected Asylum, otherwise run something else.

And yeah there are loads of viable set ups for all magicka classes:
Front bar sets: Julianos, Mother's Sorrow, Burning Spellweave, Torug's Pact (next patch), Scathing Mage, Infalliable Aether, Mechanical Acuity
Body sets: Siroria, Master Architect, Burning Spellweave, Infalliable Aether, Moondancer
Monster sets: Zaan, Grothdarr, Skoria, Ilambris (must run a lightning back bar)

Any combination will yield good results. Just don't run double trial sets and run what is appropriate for the content.

    Whatever they want?

    :p;):D

Questionable The Ring Thing jokes aside, its up to anyone what they like. My sorc boy goes for baharas curse as his main attire, because many PvE mobs are stoopid and can be made to park their rear on cursed ground for the whole fight for continous heals for a poor squishy caster... and I tend to switch up the rest as I like, often going for different sets - currently running war maiden since I love my crystals and other pure magic damage spells (its a roleplay thing for that particular character)

Why Torug's? I haven't seen anything in the patch notes.

Also, I don't think you really HAVE to run a lightning staff to rock Ilambris, I get plenty of procs just fine off of Liquid Lightning alone

Due to how enchants get procced now infused torugs front bar is good.

And I forgot I was talking about a magsorc lol so ignore the lightning back bar comment.

I am currently farming, but has some nice results with already mentioned Easy mode sorc.
And inb4 whiners came: it's easy, but not competitive. In the real hard mode stuff you'll probably be kicked with shame.
But for this cases I have mNB :D

So it's: 2 Ilambris, 5 IA, 5 Necropot, Flame vMA staff (with pet I'm hitting insane 55k max mag)
or 2 Ilambris, 5 IA, 5 Undaunted Infiltrator, Flame vMA staff

Both setups are ~ equal, so I wearing them depends on my mood.

I couldn't duplicate the results but don't run a VMA staff.

I found MS/Necro/LLambris to be much higher DPS.

Yeah I personally play the game to enjoy myself, so I don't get too competitive. I run Julianos with Burning Spellweave/ Willpower, and I've gotten through a lot of content solo.

Not to insult Xynode but his builds are purely for casuals who can't/won't figure out more complex builds (nothing wrong with that, just saying). He's a poor mans Alcast, and Alcast's builds are also pretty casual generally.

For my petsorc, I'm currently using Necro (no brainer), Infal (spell crit, minor slayer, spell damage, and increased damage/minor vuln on heavies- something I do fairly often on the petsorc), and Ilambris, with a vMA shock stick (Solkyn's been stingy with the burn sticks, but I'm hoping to crack those vaults open with the Orsinium event). Necro on body for constant 5 piece, IA jewels and frontbar staff.

Picked up the setup from a more experienced player who used to be in one of my guilds, and it's been pretty good. Not as great as in his hands, I suppose, but still consistent 35k+ parses on both 3mil and 6mil dummies with the skill layout I'm using. Certainly enough for the vet Craglorn trials I've been working on learning with a guild group and vet DLC dungeons when the mood takes me and the bugs aren't making me want to stay far, far away.

Depends if you are on a pet build, or no pet build. What I use:

5pc Mechanical Acuity, (swap out for Necropotence if got pet)
    5pc Siroria
    2pc llambris

Other good sets swap out Mechanical Acuity for, Mother's sorrow, an easy set to get your hands on for any mag toon is also Julianos while you are farming for other gear. :)
