Why do so many people play PvP in ESO?

I found that I hit a wall in PvE. Running dungeons for the hundredth time lost its appeal to me, and when I started playing battlegrounds, it was the first time in long time that the game became challenging and engaging in a different way. Suddenly, the challenge wasn't "see how fast you can burn X boss this time," it became "see if you can hold your own against other players and their builds/skill level. That was just wildly more interesting to me.

I did keep all my PvE gear though, because one day I plan on collecting all the achievement skins. It's just kind of hard to find guilds that do those kinds of runs who don't have ridiculously high standards, or charge for the runs.

In PVE, people are focused on big numbers and you can get judged upon your build only because you're not using what some famous streamer recommended. People indoctrinate the new players with leaderboard trial requirements when they just want to cast spells with a khajiit in vet dungeons. Oh, and magicka characters are just considered flat out better than stamina. And I don't want to play magicka.

In PvP, you can play as unconventionally as you want. And actually, I love a lot more theorycrafting for pvp builds, because you need to find a lot more balance between sustain, tankiness and damage.

I say that, but I'm still mainly a pve player, I do enjoy BG's and imperial city from time to time, and cyrodiil, on very rare occasions.

PvP is like a sports video game, you never play the same game twice. PvE is well, predictable.

I am a PvE guy at heart, but have recently been getting into PvP. Ive doing doing great in Battlegrounds, but I am not so great at Alliance War, I just can't seem to grasp how to be good at it, but I still like it.

What I love about PvE is that it challenges me to think and keeps me on edge. It really pushes me to know and actually understand my build, gear, skills, etc...

I don't agree with this. There is a loose script pve dungeons but it rarely matters. Either the content is too easy and everything just get's quickly melted, or its so difficult that everything goes off the rails and you have to try to recover and being able to improvise and staying alive is important. I am more of a PvE person but I am coming around to the PvP side. I think PvP is a bit more exciting while word I would use for challenging PvE content is... well... stressful.
