For those that remember vet rank remember how hard it was to complete quests and kill certain things? The grind for sky shards and skill points? The lorebooks? This is how it should be. You should have to work at it to be good. So many posts about well make this account wide and that account wide...as someone with 14 characters i dont mind the grind (more gold never hurt anyone). I hate seeing new players that come into the game and immediately are told to grind a spot like alikr dolmens or sky reach to level. I dont support that as you wont know how your character is supposed to play in dungeons or trials or pvp. You wont have a real feel for abilities when you do this and will likely be kicked from a group. Do quests find lore books and sky shards and just learn!

Biggest mistake ZOS made was 1 Tam, but all can see the intent was to allow friends to be able to always play with their

friends no matter what their level was or where in the world they were playing.

Unfortunately, all this did was allow new players access to area's and items, that those of us that did work to gain access,
were then cheated, slapped in our faces, basicly told to stfu, and to bad, the new players are way more important than you

    were, sheeesh.

But all in all its a fun game and at the moument there isn't anything better out there, but watch out, soon as there is, and

there always is a better newer game, there will be a mass dump, then who will be crying :).

I remember when I finally got my character to level 50 and got to veteran rank one. I felt accomplished. I felt REALLY accomplished when I finally got to Veteran Rank 2. I was so happy. It meant a lot to me, because at the time, I was at a job I practically lived at, and I very rarely had time to play, so when I finally got to rank 2, i was really proud. I liked the grind because to me it made the character feel special. Then shortly after they changed everything.

I remember going through 1-50 then VR1-VR16 doing all quests and being able to do it all with the first 3 skills slotted on most my characters. And my pert sorc being naked except for weapons from level 20 to around level 45, back when "pet sorcs suck". There were maybe 2 hard quests throughout the whole of Tamriel, Doshia from FG quest line and Cassia Varo from the Arithiel quest in Malabal Tor. The world bosses were easier, the few you couldn't solo at your level you could always come back a few levels higher and do.

It wasn't harder, we just had to follow a set path then. Now players can go where they want first.

Worse, the old system made you out level content if you did all the quests, far more if you also did dungeons and pvp.
Vet zones was better in that the level gradient was less. Yes the game was harder but only remember one fight in the vr zones who was hard as in dying multiple times. Dorsia and gutripper was mostly hard as none could play and we only had one bar.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm a day one player and I would like to see more account wide stuff

What I'd like is at character creation your asked if you want to link the character this means is bonded to your main ... Sharing achievements skill points everything same way you do champion points .. all the content is made harder ... Overland, delves, dungeons, trials

This means those looking fur a new challenge get it but they also have the gear n skills to make it through it

Ever few months they can add a new tier so you can create a tier 1 link, tier 2 link, and so on.

Throw in some tier 1, tier 2 achievements for those characters so you have new things to chase

PvP players only need to create a new character and play pve on their main which would be tier 0 to get gear for PvP, pve players get new challenging modes for all over content.

Seems like a win win for us all

Hey, I remember the time before One Tamriel as a railroad. A pretty railroad, sure, but I couldn't go back and do quests more than 5 levels below me because there was no exp and I couldn't go to higher level areas even if I could handle it thanks to the artificial miss chance.

And heaven help me if I decided to jump to a DLC area because I'd have outleveled base game content.

    Oh, I remember.

I agree that the best way to enjoy the game on your first character is to quest and experience the game. After that, I don't care if you grind.

Oh yes, it was just the right difficulty until they changed the system to CPs. Before, one got a feeling of accomplishment while questing. Only the mobs in vet zones were a little too fast respawning in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, 1T still was necessary that you can meet people from other alliances. But it was an overshooting in regards of difficulty. And it still didn't solve the issue that we don't have a real faction identity.

Now everywhere you go in public areas, you share the same difficulty with beginners and this makes everything extremely dull for experienced players... Mobs just die in 1-2 hits while I just breeze through new content (of course, I am reading and listening to everything). But feeling of accomplishment? nada. Afterwards I just make some writs and do a little farming of these... and that's it.

Not only that, every expansion the level cap raises. This makes the old content extremely easy and obsolete. This entire system makes not much sense:

    1) What is the reason to increase CP every expansion at all if we have level scaling? The few peaks you gain are not necessary for the old content - even make them more trivial - and barely for the new content. Why not create new content tailored around the current current CP? No one cares about the number next to the CP symbol anyways.
    2) On the other hand, what is the reason to not make all 3600 CP levels immediately available if the decision is now to let it increase every expansion? People can in principle already gain the experience up to that level.
    3) In any case, what will be the experience if you run with a CP 3600 through Tamriel some day? Most of the continent will be ridiculously easy and completely boring.

    Simplest Fix:

Implement a hardcore character mode at the character select screen which enabled veterans to create a toon that would suffer a permanent debuff that reduces "all" stats by a certain percentage on that specific character.

They could still play with their friends while enjoying the increased difficulty of "all" content.

This makes much more sense than creating new servers or implementing some type of toggle for players which lends itself to more breakage.

Hell ZoS could even implement new titles for those who complete certain content using said toons.

Just a simple lifetime debuff that is applied to the character on creation.

Another "remember when" post. Seriously though, every single one of these garners an eye roll. The game sucked pre1T. It's why I didn't play, I waited until I started to read and hear good reviews. the few people I knew IRL who played hated the game so I shied away of course. Not being able to go where I wanted annoyed the hell out of me.

I am glad the game is the way it is. I think they should do a better job, a much better job, at guiding players through the main quest, to create a more linear storyline because as I experienced, it was chaos. I had no idea what to do when I first set foot in Seyda Neen and was very surprised to learn that I wasn't playing the main quest line. The game is much better off now, players being able to do *mostly* whatever they want in overworld content.

If this game ever went back to a railroad quest line, rank based/locked content, I'd leave in a split second. I play video games to have fun and relax, to enjoy the game, not to live another life.

So please, spare us the uphill both ways in the snow back in my day when things were hard talk. It's annoying enough IRL.

Well yea guys, everyone knows grinding skyshards lore books etc is hard work and obviously makes you a really good player for pvp trials maelstrom leatherboards. Everytime, I pick up a lore book or regrind something on another toon I feel that I am that much smarter of a player with more skill then your average player that did not do the extra grind. Grinds add so much to mmos, that other single player games do not have its crazy. Literally if you just play single player creative rpgs with very little grind, I wont even talk to you bc you didnt work very hard in that game.

I did a massive grind to get my main - then single character - to VR16, two weeks before 1Tam went live on console.

I think taking down certain WBs is still an achievement - just as finally completing VMA was for me < three months ago. If you work hard at something and finally manage to do it after a lot of attempts, it's still special IMO.

As for Alik'r... if I go anywhere near a dolmen there these days, I get disconnected.

I disagree. Biggest mistake ZoS made was underestimating how important the feel of the game was to ES fans.

I think that nerfing Sweepers in IC was bad.

    Nerfing Anchors was horrible.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

vet ranks were obsolete and a grindfest as a part time job, good job getting rid of that
one tamriel did a good job, sometimes as a vet you could only party with ppl of your own faction making it almost impossible to clear content cause there were nobody online at that moment. good job with one tamriel.

the game was too hard for people with jobs and lives, not to mention it was practically dead without one tamriel.

if you feel bad for "working" hard for X item then you have the problem not the new players.

VR was fine if you played one, or maybe two characters.

I enjoy making new characters, trying new builds and the switch from character VR to account-wide CP has been a godsend. There's no way in hell I could grind my whole stable of 15+ alts individually to VR16, no way at all.

And I don't even play with the big boys when it comes to being an altaholic; think I heard of one guy here who has 3 accounts.

    I have a solution!

After the One Tamriel, there is no instances for each alliances. BUT just like when you select Normal or Veteran dungeon mode in party screen or specific dungeons list, we should able to select Normal or Veteran open world mode. There will be two instances to make things equal but Guild Traders will be the same in each instance. Only difference would be the hardcore world and quests if only the player wants.

We all had difficult open world like in Veteran mode before One Tamriel and now it's quite easy like Normal mode. Just give as an option to choose just like in dungeons! We may even want to open Hard Mode version for open world.

I remember, how I got through Pact and main quest in 1.5 month after release. I remember only one quest where I had really hard battle - some fight with Mannimarco (and I was also running in circles in battle with Molag Bal, while he was distracted by my pets, but it was more long than hard).
My main character still has small phobia of crocodiles, but that was not because of difficulty, that was bugged achievement in Shadowfen, too little info about quests and desire for title of Pact Hero :D
I can't say anything about dungeons or Cyrodiil, but about what "how hard it was to complete quests" are you speaking?

And I returned to ESO some time before (if I remember correct) Thieves Guild. Closed solo few anchors in zone 6 ranks above. Did some dungeons with a friend - and somehow reached 10 VR before I finished first zone of Cadwell's Silver. Then and now I have absolutely terrible dps and build.

I love One Tamriel. Some things became easier, yes - but those that already was easy before. But now I don't have problem with "Oh, do Silver as intended or go to Gold which is closer to my level?".
Only thing I don't like, after chapters new begginnings - that it's too easy to get lost in story line for new people. I'd like to have some in-game guide "You can do anything you want and go anywhere you want, but story has such order...". Zones can be done in other order, of course, but that's the most logical.

2014 ESO was FAR better than today, in close to every aspect except sorc pets being useless and a couple classes requiring a slight buff.

Everything, everything else was better and playing ESO in beta was totally rewarding.

ZOS could have implemented One Tamriel keeping the "difficulty" (especially on the bosses!) and I prefer Craglorn as today vs the old "you can't put your nose outside of Belkhart" group only region. Everything, everything else was far better back then. Including low lag PvP. Including classes uniqueness and sharply visible flavour. Including a true "play as you want" system, where every class could be a trial tank, DPS or healer (bar very few and easily fixed exceptions).
