What does it mean when the description of an article of clothing/armor says impenetrable? What is critical resistance? Does that just figure into the computerized roll of the dice?

Impenetrable is a trait that grants a certain amount of critical resistance and the armor takes less degradation damage from exp gain/deaths.

Critical resistance is the amount of resistance you have to another player's critical hits, useful only in PVP.

Thanks to both. So impenetrable is not, and critical resistance is only important in pvp?

Impenetrable is one of the few sources to gain critical resistance, and indeed critical resistance is only useful in PvP as Mobs can not critically strike. If you want more information on critical resistance and how it works you can read this:

Thanks. I haven't done any pvp yet so we'll have to see how that works.
