Cyro postern doors and Midyear Mayhem

The postern door bug will not be fixed in time for the mayhem. According to ZOS rules you are not allowed to use that bug to your advantage. This will be a mess when many new arrives in cyro, can we please have an official ZOS statment on this bug Before the mayhem starts.

If it was such a major concern it would have been fixed before running a PvP event where loads of new players flood into Cyrodill and do not have a clue what is the 'ordinary' there.

That’s dumb. A ton of people don’t visit the forums at all (and who can blame them). A lot of new PvP players very well may not notice the issue, so it would be pretty crappy for them to be punished within their first few days of pvp just because Zeni doesn’t care enough to fix the issue.

Frankly, it’s flat out ridiculous that Zeni *still* hasn’t fixed this.. I’m fine with players being punished for legitimate acts of cheating and exploiting, but this issue is all on ZOS as far as I’m concerned. The main point of Cyrodiil is to capture keeps and outposts, and this bug completely borks that when it happens.

ZOS has said that bypassing the need to siege down the walls or doors is an exploit, whether that's dragon leaping the walls, ambushing through the doors, or in this case, entering keeps/outposts through "open" areas.

When I've seen this bug, it was on a postern of an outpost. I could see the door, but not the wall around it...except that I could clearly see the wall's health percentage was at 60%. So I set down my ballista and helped with the ongoing siege instead of entering and flipping the flags (like some of my fellow players) because it was obvious that the wall was bugged and the right thing to do was to properly siege the postern wall down. The players who rushed through the open area before the wall was sieges down were exploiting.

Anyone taking advantage of this bug to bypass the need to siege walls/doors is exploiting a bug caused by ZOS.

Wasn’t trying to say that it isn’t an exploit. My point is that, in this case, it would be pretty dumb to get all trigger happy with the ban-hammer. When Midyear Mayhem starts, there’ll likely be a lot of new PvPers in Cyro, and most people who are new to Cyrodiil have pretty much no idea what is going on. If Zeni doesn’t fix such a glaring and obvious issue that we’ve known about for quite some time, then by no means should we be starting our only annual pvp event...

I’ll report DKs leaping over walls any day, same goes for any other real exploit. This postern wall bug, however, can be “exploited” entirely on accident, particularly by someone unfamiliar with Cyrodiil.

Yep Black boot was great. I know some who farmed in excess of 6 million AP mostly AFK. Once it was clear the crying on forums was going to bring ZOS in, they bought up Akavari motifs and drained the AP away, ZOS gave out 3 day suspensions and the exploiters came back to 2 million gold from sold motifs LOL

So i highly doubt, that put off anyone from exploiting. This event will be the same, especially since Cyrodill is bugged out and walls disappearing, keep doors on 0% still closed etc

This entire post is laughable. I PvP a lot. I’ve seen this glitch. I’ve been on both sides of this glitch. If it’s occurring whomever is on defense should actively guard the “breach” instead of requesting bans all day.

The easiest way to beat people taking advantage of a glitch is to actually beat the people. Maybe you’ll learn something.

Something like ... for example ... not everyone has it happen so you’re highly likely to be fighting 1 on like 30 when you actually do it.

Entire guild groups have been abusing it. But yes, let’s downplay it and put the blame on the players instead of ZOS again. Let’s not fix bugs.

I’ve seen it twice in the last week. I’m sure somewhere there are “entire guild groups” abusing it but it would have to be only against a really lightly defended keep that already has the outer wall down anyway. If an entire guild can jump through the wall without any resistance the keep was going to fall 3 minutes later anyway.

But as we know in Cyrodiil “entire guild groups” really just means 4 of 24 people against an already overrun group who didn’t think having 2 people spam time bubbles on it would stop it.

Pro tip: have 2 people spam time bubbles on it.

Very; saw it 3x just last night. And saw no one exploiting it. I think the peer pressure is helping cut down on the abuse but that's just not going to work during Mayhem.

No ... you saw no one exploiting it because only a small fraction of people can see it happen and jumping solo into a defended keep is complete suicide for 99% of players. Add in that if they were in an organized group there is an equal 99% chance that their leader is telling them just to get back on crown and wait 2 minutes for the door to be knocked down.

Let's just say overall I've seen the amount of people exploiting this drop.

I don't know about other servers and factions, but NA PC Vivec on EP has been very vocal about telling players not to exploit it, and I've also seen fewer DC and AD walking through walls lately.

I don't even know what a postern is so I guess I will be banned for life.

The Postern is the side door/wall on a keep or outpost, as compared to the front door. They have more health for attackers to siege down, but its harder to set up defensive siege to protect them.

This bug can happen on any wall, but on the Posterns, if you see a door smack in the middle of a hole in the wall where you can squeeze past the door, that's a part of the bug. You can hover over the wall and see that it still has health, so you really need to siege down the Postern wall until it reaches 0% health.

The issues will be with some groups that come out just for Midyear Mayhem, and will do whatever it takes to maximise AP gains. Like when they did Keep flipping without fighting.

There is nothing stupid about not reading gaming forums. Most people just play games. Heck, even some very active players avoid these forums due to the general tone and unpleasantness.

What an odd thing to expect people to think of doing -- checking forums to see if their are bugs they should avoid doing before playing a game so they aren't accuse of using an exploit.

Reporting is good, but ZOS should just ignore all such reports during the period due to the number of people who will be just naively experiencing bugs.

Half the time it looks like its been sieged down. If z0$ is too incompetent to fix it, there is no reason they should ban people for going through an obvious hole. We are supposed to use our imaginations and pretend there isn't a hole? It's part of the environment. A random occurrence. Getting mad at people for going through what appears to be a breach is ridiculous. I went through several times at several keeps before I ever knew it was a bug. If they can fix feather falling with such urgency, then why can't they fix this? Can people be banned for shooting siege through those holes? R I D I C U L O U S

Because you get a group of 3+players who can slip through the wall take out the NPC’s while other players flag the Outpost and by the time it Flags n alerts defenders, it is already being flip’d. Which results in full time babysitters at outposts which is rare during an AP event...since they get no compensation for sitting n watching while others are off earning AP.

But ... once again ... you’re talking about something that would be like the college equivalent of Cyrodiil 401: senior seminar but are talking about reporting a bunch of Cyrodiil 101 students who wouldn’t know better.

Just adding this here as well... Think this could be a temp solution, unless I am wrong in some way. But from what I've seen this should work.
    Runs wrote: »
    Why isn't this fixed yet?

There is a very simple solution, even if it's just a temporary one till the main issue is fixed.

Since when this bug happens the door stays, and is usable by the right alliance only... All that is needed is an invisible wall around the door covering the open parts like below(Imagine the gray area is an invisible wall) on every postern door...

    ukNauIy.png

Now this invisible wall will still be there even when the wall collapses, but at that point the door will be gone and people can walk through it. Then enemies can only get in when they are supposed to, even though they have a slightly smaller entry way than normal.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom any chance of seeing if this could be done as a temporary fix?
