Alliance war ranks, do they cost too much AP?

So i’ve been working on increasing my alliance war rank on my favorite character for more skill points because i am a perfectionist when it comes to trifles at times. So my questions is does the ESO community think that it takes too long or cost too much AP to gain alliance war ranks?

nothing much special for grouped with good leader zergs (so small amount of pvp players) but still struggle for "randoms", pugs so most of cyrodil population

Yes, 65million AP for GO2 is ridiculas

I'm mostly PvEr, my alliance rank is 36 at the moment, so that grind for achievements is painful

It's fine. Yes it is really long but it makes it that much more enjoyable when you get to max or close to max. Some of these achievements should take a long time to get.

The problem with any grind is that it does come to an end, and you stop doing it. ZOS have to keep creating new reasons for you to do things when that happens. A few long grinds are probably better for the game than dozens of shorter ones, which would end up being more and more contrived, and less appealing.

The balance between reward of grind and frustration is hard to judge, and not the same for every player.

The way they hand out AP now, 65 million is nothing.

I'd like to have all the vet trial achievements and skins without working for them. Should they nerf the trials for the sake of achievements? Also, Master Angler but I find fishing boring so just increase the drop rate of fish.

Dumbing them down just makes those achievements meaningless.

Not required due to the following:
- Fighters Guild is easily farmable in the Alikr Desert.
- Mages Guild can be done in a single day. Even easier on PC with certain add-ons.

By comparison, PvP Ranks take nearly a year or more to complete unless you are exploiting in some way, such as faction hopping or cross-faction d-tick swap farms. Last year, a massive exploit during Midyear Mayhem allowed players to farm up to Rank 50 within a week - most of them got to keep their rank, but lost their AP when ZoS responded - not a big deal as they still made off with 50 skill points or even worse, spent their AP before it was taken away.

I am a PvE guy at heart (still getting better at PvP) and I think it's fine the way it is. Really challenges me to work for it. I wouldn't want it to be any easier because then i'd feel like I am just being handed these new ranks without trying much. I have a sense of accomplishment when I reach a new rank. I've made it to Legionary so far. I get excited when I get close to a new rank, because I know I've actually worked for it.

There were times when a kill got you 100 AP, a resource 125 AP, and a 10k+ Def Tick was considered awesome. Now? It’s really easy to get AP.

If you feel that everyone should have access to every skill point available without too much effort, then yes, 65 mil AP is ridiculous.

Selfishly I'd like it to be easier to get those skill points, but also I think PvP should have these kinds of tougher achievements.

I believe my first character is a first seargent (Rank 16) and I don't PvP everyday. I figure if I kept up the same rate of AP earnings it would only take me another 3 years or so to get Grand Overlord 2. That sounds about right to me. I'm not as consistently available to participate in the war effort so it should not be too easy for me to rank up

You have no idea how much easier it is to get AP now versus when the game released. It has utterly demeaned the meaning of higher level ranks in PvP btw.

How much meaning did it ever really have? It's just a gauge of Alliance War currency gained on one character. Nothing regarding contribution, kills, captures, damage done, ally healing, etc. People keep bringing up PvE achievements for comparison but PvE achievements require more than just showing up on the same character and doing that for a long time (yes, I know those can be cheesed too).
I'd love to see a little thought put into specific Alliance War ranks/achievements, but right now they're just a time invested calculator, and for being that the time invested is pretty heavy.

There is a common misconception, that anyone who is "solo", i.e not in group in Cyrodiil, doesn't know what he's doing.
I solo a lot in Cyrodiil and I have max alliance rank and make ton of ap per hour.
There are many fine solo players out there, not being in group isn't always a disadvantage, you've a map, zone chat and freedom to help where you're needed.

Yeah. They've made it stupidly easy to get AP now, which makes those ranks really easy to get. I used to PVP hardcore at launch and when I was going for emp, and I only got to rank 23 in about two years time.

With the current system, I went from 23 to 30 in like three weeks.

I generally solo, too. I even got Emp solo (though that final push did need some help). I don't mind grouping but I generally don't seek them out. If I get invited I join. If not, I just do what I gotta do.

It's fine as is. I prefer to have something to work toward, rather than being handed to me. I would never pay for a skin run either though (not matter how badly I might want that cloudreach skin...drool), because I dislike shortcuts. When I've reached the proper skill lever to get the achievement, I'll get it. Until then, I have work to do.

At this point ? Yeah pretty much just a cosmetic for aesthetic purposes. Should cut the amount by half and add a new system revolving around skill and objectives.

its a cool idea but now why would they do that when they can shove similar glowy mounts as radient apex in crown crates and get some faction loayal whales to drop 3k USD chasing that awesome senche mount that matches thier character who never even stepped foot in cyrodiil
