Scamming?

So i got scammed outta all my mats i sent to a player (That i sadly cant name because forum rules...) screenshotted all the mail for proof just in case, they took it, removed me from friends and ignored me. Does ZOS do anything about scammers or no?

Yes, i know it was my fault for trusting this person, but my point is, if i have proof i was scammed, does ZOS do anything to them? IE; suspension, ban etc. If they dont then im not even going to take another second worrying about them and just wont report.

File a report/ticket, the first ticket response will *** you off, but it's automated. You will need to keep replying till you get a human. If you have proof you were scammed you should be able to get your stuff back and they should be penalized.

Some have reported here in the forums Zos helped them after getting scammed in a player to player trade. I expect that is rare and it differs from what OP is discussing since OP did not enter into a trade using the in game trading system.

It is a good lesson that maybe someone will see this thread and realize that these strangers are not your friends. There are idiots and jerks in the game that get their jollies taking advantage of others because they live pathetic life outside of the game.

It's a sad reflection on life that people think it's ok to do this...……

Just be careful, somebody offering cheap goods in zone chat may be less than honest!

Easy solution is request COD if they refuse then they are probably not worth dealing with :(

You can't post the name on the forum, but there is nothing afaik to prevent you from posting their @name in the city zone that you were scammed in, or indeed in a few other zones.
After-all, you are just helping other players to avoid such a terrible human being.

You don't even need to be rude about it. Just something along the lines of:

    "Hey x Zone x
Just a quick note to let you know that you should not trust @name for any crafting needs.
They recently advertised their crafting services, and scammed me out of thousands of gold worth of crafting materials."

With any luck, someone who knows them will also see your message, and maybe they will get an ear bashing in guild too over their scummy act.
You likely wont get your mats back, but I'm sure it would make you feel a little better :p

And even though they have blocked you, they haven't blocked any of your friends.
So you can always have a friend send them a mail letting them know that you have reported them.

I'm assuming your mean 800 ingots, as that's around the amount for a full set of cp160 gear, unless they were supposed to be for multiple weapons; even then you'd run out of inventory space before withdrawing that many stacks. I'm not sure if ZoS will do much since it was ultimately your decision to send the materials willingly to another player who you do not know. I imagine their response will be along the lines of: "Well, now you've learned an important life lesson" or something like that, and they would be correct. It's just a really expensive life lesson to learn, but at least it's with virtual currency and not actual currency.

I highly recommend joining at least a trading guild if you're not in one already, or just a guild in general. Many guildmates will be able and willing to craft your stuff for you for free or for a small tip. I'm sorry this happened to you, there are typically just as many, or more, players who are willing to help you out rather than scam you.

I thought I was being scammed the other day. :)

A few weeks ago I get an email with 1k gold attached. The message went something like "I wanted to help donate to the guild for a trader".

Then a couple of weeks later I get a new email that said, "I accidentally sent you my guild dues for another guild I am in. Could you please return it".

I replied, "Sure, how much did you send me?". They replied, "25k".

I was thinking, "wow, what guild charges 25k for club dues.. scam alert.. scam alert". I was almost going to reply with something bad but then I decided to look and first make sure the person wasn't in my guild.

The person was a member of Friendly Dungeon Runners and I knew nobody in that guild would scam me. So I checked my email again and didn't see any 25k donations, and then i checked the deposits in the guild bank... and found it. :)

Apparently they didn't send the money to me they put it in the guild bank. I returned the gold and everything ended well. :)

If you want a friend, get a dog.

Trade guilds maintaining a spot in high-traffic locations like Mournhold and Rawl'Kha have to charge a lot to protect it. I'm in a MH guild with something extremely similar, and a Rawl'Kha guild would need to charge even more. I don't blame you for checking first (that was smart) but if you can't meet a weekly sales quota of 300k+ a week (for the taxes), the other way to keep your guild spot is a donation. 25k is normal for an elite tier guild.

Guilds have a cap of 500 members but have to pay upwards of several million a week for the spot, so each member's activity is vital.

I find that curious and a little risky. It's true that most dedicated players are probably spending their time there, esp while levelling the new JC line. But those traders are only accessible to those who own the chapter, unlike MH and R'K which with One Tamriel are easily accessible by anybody. Spending several million on trying to hold one seems like it would have lesser returns than in a city with an established reputation for keeping full traders.

Alinor is a second tier trader location. The crafting stations are nowhere near the wayshrine and traders. The only reason MH, Wayrest, and ER can pull it off is because they're also pledge towns so they attract a lot of foot traffic.

    Top-5 trader spots are:

    1. Rawl'kha
    2. Mournhold
    3. Wayrest
    4. Elden Root
    5. Vivec City

Alinor would probably be #6, but it's certainly not in the same tier as the others.

Vivec City is also a DLC town, but it's been around longer than Alinor, and it's much better laid out for doing writs (all crafting stations, bank, and traders are right next to the wayshrine).

I'm not sure on trader guilds requiring fee payments. Or maybe I'm just lucky to be in a better one.

I am in BBC1 (Rawl Trader) and was in BBC2 (mournhold) for a year and they do not charge fees.

It is true that the top 10% support the guild and I give 35k/week to raffle, nice items for auctions, and sell 150k+ per week (I'm not a farmer and my time is limited, so I send 35k because that = the tax for 1 mil on sales) but they have no dues and do not require that.

On the flip side, if you're not making good gold in your trade guild, it's nice to assist in other ways so that you can keep that fancy trader.

6+ mil a week min is what any decent kiosk costs (not even top tier), so if you wanna trade in a good area, someone has to make those costs.

35k a week is really nothing at all, everyone can do that, imho.

Oh yeah - when I'm awake I also bid big on auctions because why not? I've won some beautiful things that I wouldn't have, if not for the amazingly auctions at bbc1 and 2!

COD doesnt work when someone has to craft something for you. Sure, they could use their mats and then exchange the gear for the new mats + money. But many times i lack the necessary mats when i have to craft something for someone else, and probably happens to many other people as well.

PS: main responsible for scamming is the scammer, obviously.
