Treasure maps

So I have a bunch of treasure maps taking up my inventory and I am looking to go clear them all out by searching for the treasures.. What do you think the likelihood is that they will buff them? If so maybe it might be worth it to save them although the buff might not make it worthy enough. Do you guys think if they did buff them it would affect any treasure maps collected previous to the buff like ones all the ones we all saved up?

They're so ***! I have about 20/30 of the *** in my inventory. Really cannot be arse spending 3 hours traipsing round picking up absolute dross. Treasure by its very name implies the loot will be desirable.. it just isn't.

I have a whole 60 slot chest filled with them, plus, bunches of maps on different characters...

i finally reached the realization that I'll never take the time to go search them out...

yesterday i tried unloading some into one of my guild banks - but, strangely enough it does not seem like they are items which can be deposited in to build banks???

Even if they ever buff them, I'd expect them to do like they always do: only new ones acquired after the patch will be buffed.

Same way they did with jewelry, with Writs containers before/after Master Writs and so on.

For me, Treasure maps are an annoyance. They are not even worth the 5 seconds it takes to destroy them.

Well, they’re not so bad now since you get a chance at getting jewelry to deconstruct.

OP, if you go collect them, make sure you've got the Treasure Hunter passive from your Champion Points. i think it's in one of the green trees. usually it'll just improve the quality of one of the items, but once in a while you'll get 2 set items. since most zones have at least one set that someone wants to buy, that can be a nice little chance at worthwhile loot.

Depending on what zone they are for I put them in the guild store (social guild no trader) for 100-800 gold. They usually sell.

I could use an answer on this as well OP. I have such a huge stack of treasure maps and whatever those crafting survey things are cluttering up my bank. Anybody want 'em? I haven't the patience to care about them in the least.

Surveys are great for a chunk of materials. Also, clothing, blacksmithing, woodworking, and jewelry also give benefits of refining the mats. I find them more worthwhile than treasure maps.

I agree Treasure Map hunting alone is not worth the investment in time or effort. That said, I've been sticking a shed ton of maps into the inventories of characters doing the Psijic Order quests, skyshard hunting or simple mat farming. This way treasure chests are incidental rewards along the way. They might yield a decent overland set piece to sell or jewellery to deconstruct. At the very least it's 108 gold I didn't have before.

Yes thank you I do have the treasure hunter passive. I did not know that you could get anything else aside from generic gear from different qualities.. Do you know what are all the different type of contents you can get in a treasure chest? Can you really get Zone dropped gear and motifs?

Yes hopefully we get a lot of good information on this. CalmFury earlier gave a great example of how they don't retroactive things much like with the master writs and saving containers although I'm not too sure if this would be the same type of application since it is an activated item map.

While I find just treasure map hunting alone not worth the time but what I do is I discover all the wayshrines farm needed/valued nodes and collect lorebooks and skyshards on the way to make the trip worth if needed on that character. Which I kind of don't mind because it forces me to do those things that I really needed to do anyway.

yeah you can get zone gear for sure. like, if you're in Rivenspire you can get Necropotence gear from a chest. lots of "avenues" for zone gear will give you different slots (like how dolmens give jewelry and delve bosses give boots and belts) but i think chests from maps can grant any slot. as for motifs, i don't think it's "normal" to pull motifs from treasure maps. i know it's possible in Chapter zones and in Cyrodiil, and the list might be longer than that. i've personally never gotten a motif from a "base game" zone.

as for what can be pulled, i'm just gonna list off the top of my head, so i might miss some stuff:

generic gear, like Rubedite Maul of Magicka
region set gear, like Plague Doctor's helm
gold according to level and passives
certain style items, like Malachite and Laurel
Furniture Items such as paintings (i don't recall what else)
i think potions, poisons, and soul gems belong in this list, too

that's all just for treasure maps in the base game zones. other zones have other rules, and i don't know all of them. i invite others to expand on my list and correct my details, as i'm far from an expert on this, but i did try

That's great info thanks a lot maybe I will just Farm out all my treasure maps then because at least I could find skyshards and lorebooks and some material nodes then I will use all the items to deconstruct on my alts to further level up my crafting so I can get more crafting writs daily which equals more chance to proc legendary tempers. Also the slight chance to get jewelry for deconstruction is nice maybe even expensive zone drop gear that people will pay for.

Off the subject sort of but what was pretty weird is the other day I was in alik'r desert farming jewelry to level up jewelcrafting and the Dolmen boss dropped a green quality sword singer's maul. Previous to that I thought that you can only get weapons from World bosses and normal Treasure Chests from that zone only but I'm for sure that when I looted the Dolmen boss I got the maul.

yeah, that can happen, it's just that it's unusual and unreliable, so people don't count on it for farming. there's a chance for just about anything to drop regional set items, really. like, about a month ago i got an infused Werewolf Hide Jack from a pair of skeevers.

one time i spent like 3 days straight doing dolmens in Rivenspire. i had my purple Necro rings and really wanted a necklace better than blue. i got fed up and started walking to a wayshrine. one of those little Oblivion portals opened up on the way, the kind that spawn 5 daedra in 2 waves? so i took out my frustration by doing a full boss-melt on those guys. went to grab my loot and guess what i found?

Al they need to do is add the chance for those chests to contain rare motif pages, and everyone would want them

I love treasure maps! I had 19 in my inventory the other day, the more maps the better.

treasure maps are trash and not worth doing them, you can just throw them. That will save u time which you can use doing something more useful like farming.

exception are only the ones from maps with good sets, like Bangkorai or Rivenspire

I usually take 1 day of the week to go thru all my maps, mostly for the sake of inventory space alone but occasionally I strike gold and get something worthwhile. At the very least I get decon fodder which is already more valuable than the map was

they can be placed in to your personal bank, but, it seems you can't place them in your guild bank...

you can't vendor them, they're not really worth listing in guild stores - I was hoping to unload/donate them to some of my guild banks so the folks whom do enjoy the treasure maps could use them...

I agree. I have a huge stack of them and absolutely no desire to go on "Treasure Hunts". I've got ore to harvest!

Depending on which zone they can also be a source of style resources, for example rivenspire maps can give darkstrider gear which when decon'd can give fine chalk (thieves guild).

Its worth keeping tabs on what drops where.

I absolutely realize I'm just being lazy...I can simply look them up on my phone (on console), mark them on my game map and go happy hunting...

I must have about 5 or 6 maps for each zone...

it's just become nearly the absolute least thing I want to do with my time in eso...

I can't even get myself to go collect up the materials from my survey writs (except for jewelry surveys of course )...

I'm at a point where I'm good on gold, materials and overland gear..
