Scalecaller Skin Vs. Psijic Tattoos

Is anyone else just a little insulted that the Psijic body tattoos are essentially an upgraded, better, version of the scalecaller peak skin that many of us worked so hard for? This will probably be an unpopular opinion but I was discussing this with people in my guild last night so I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

The Psijic body tattoos is the same concept as the scalecaller skin except the tattoos are more filling and they GLOW, making them pop. I don't think it's far that the one that takes absolutely no skill or anything else to get other than a few hours of free time looks like a better, upgraded version. Not a lot of players on Xbox NA have the scalecaller skin so it is a prestigious skin and yet every player is now able to get (in my opinion and many others) a better looking version of it.

I'm not saying that casual players shouldn't have access to cool cosmetics, but those cosmetics shouldn't be improved versions of the skins that actually take skill and work to get. I think the design team really dropped the ball on this one because it makes the scalecaller skin less valuable. I will probably be called an elitist for this but I don't want to see this happening in the future to other skins. If y'all are going to add in easy to get cosmetics, be a little bit more creative and don't knock off something that already exists in the game.

Isn't Psijic body tattoos..a body tattoo compared to skin it has less usage. ( Doesn't hid vampirism)

They still go in the same place on the body and one looks way cooler than the other while one takes effort and skill to get while the other can be earned by every average Joe with a few hours of free time.

I don't think it's a ripoff. They don't even look that simular. If something here is a ripoff it's the ebony epidermis skin from crown store and the new z'maja shadow skin. They're fairly simular in my opinion.

They are both blue body tattoos. The only differences is that one glows and has a different pattern. And is more noticeable. My whole point really is that the one that takes skill to get should be the one that glows or is more noticeable.

Tbh. I love the psijic tattoos, but I personally think the Scalecaller skin is better. I’ve seen people wear them together. Which looks pretty awesome.

But the actual skin is a skin, and adds a somewhat white layout over your character. The tattoos glow, yes, but they don't represent the effort you put into clearing the dungeon.

Yeah i mean since its a cosmetic people will have different opinions on which looks better but I know that some of us feel the way I do. I really could barely notice my scalecaller skin when i wore it with the tattoos.

True the skin does change the skin tone, I see your point I just feel they look too similar. I agree with your point about the shadow skin and ebony epidermis for what it's worth as well. But I don't see myself earning that one anytime too soon so I am not as worked up about that one :D

That the Scalecaller Peak skin is so subtle is the very reason many players like it. It is the closest we can get to hiding vampirism. A feature that many people are wanting for a long time.

I'm sure there are also plenty of players like me who prefer the more gaudy skins as well.

I do kind of get the whole hiding vampirism thing but I don't play as a vampire on a single one of my 14 characters so that was an issue I overlooked when making this post.

Well skins are like titles for me - they only matter to the one that use them. Most ppl I know don't care at all what the person next to you is wearing.

I get your point but I wouldn't care. The important thing is to know for yourself that you can clear the content and don't expect others to care.

That's a really grown-up and mature way of looking at this situation. I guess it would be nice to literally have 0 ego like you but we are only human. I WANT others to see it and be jealous. That's how i felt when i was bad at the game and saw others with skins. It motivated me to earn them for myself. That may be a personal flaw but that is how i feel about it.

I just know that the first time i saw someone running around with the Psijic tattoos and the master wizard title it left a bad taste in my mouth looking at my non-glowing blue tattoos that I had to actually work for. And there are others in my guild that feel the same.

I have started wearing different skins because of the psijic tattoos. But the thing is, i liked the scalecaller skin a lot. Until I saw the tattoos...

Bleh... this thread boggles the mind.

You are seriously upset that people have a tattoo that is "cooler" than your skin... which you can also wear...

I have always hated the notion of "it sucked for me, so it has to suck for you".

If it is really a problem with "but they didn't earn it" then where is the rage on the factotum polymorph?

Lmao. If someone feels jealousy over an inane cosmetic in a game, they have more pressing issues than some damn in game skin and tattoo clashing. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but like yourself no doubt, no one cares more about what you have than what you care about what i have. A kick in the nuts no doubt, but it's the truth.

Whether or not you place value on skins, the developers do based on how difficult the achievements are to get them. Many players value them as well. Just because you do not does not give you the right to jump in here and be condescending.

Obviously there are more pressing issues in the world than a tattoo and a skin clashing.

However, this is a video game message board where the most inane and minor issues are bantered about. This is entirely within reason to present as an issue compared to some of the threads that have been made on here in the past.

Not condescending, just depressed at the things people get upset over.

Also, I never said I don't value the skins (re: factotum polymorph). My issue lies with people wanting to condescend to others "because they didn't earn the right to look cool".

It's not so much that they didn't earn the right to look cool. You are right to share your opinion if you are not trying to be condescending. In fact i welcome it.

As i stated in my original post, I don't mind that casual players get cosmetics to earn. If the psijic tattoos were literally any other color than light blue we wouldn't be having this discussion. It's the fact that they are so similar in design, and that the one that takes no skill to get looks like a more cool version, is why i am upset. If one was green per say and one was blue or one was purple and one was blue or something I wouldn't even care in the slightest.

Things cease to be exclusive and special if everyone can get them. A mount isn't cool if everyone is riding it. A costume isn't cool if everyone is wearing it. Sorry but that is the way I feel. I don't think it's too much to ask that the design team try to make the easy to get cosmetics look a little more different from the cosmetics that people actually have to work for.

They are far from being the same.

vSP does not glow. The pattern is different. It's a skin which means it covers the entire body in one go. It can be worn with a body tattoo and does not cover it. It changes the skin tone making mortal players look paler than usual and vampire players look mortal, having human eyes but still looking somewhat pale.

The mystic tattoos (or however they are called, I admit I don't own them yet) ate tattoos. They do not change your original skin tone. They come in face tattoo and body tattoo meaning you can choose to wear one or both. They can show under other skins which reveal the original flesh such as the vHoF skin, or the Amberplasm skin if you want to look like a walking neon sign.

Personally, I think the glowing tattoos are far too gaudy to be taken seriously. I'm under the impression they are meant to represent the pinnacle of psijic knowledge/rank. Instead most people I see wearing them run around with the nordic towel, barely clothed at all and looking nothing like a dignified member of the psijic order. At night it's even a wonder they don't find themselves swarmed by moths seeing as the glow is just that intense. IMO it looks extremely out of place. If it was just a few glowing strokes here and there it would be fine. But as it is, to me it screams 'walking neon sign', look at me!!'. Of course that is just my opinion.

So between the two of them, I'll go with the Scalecaller skin every day. Yes it's harder to obtain. But it's a lot classier than the tattoos.

And that is fine that we disagree on that. As i said, the things that make the tattoos different from the skin (glow and more full pattern) is why I think it looks more cool. But that is down to personal preference at the end of the day. I understand the tattoos doesn't change your skin tone while the scp skin does but as someone who doesn't play vamp on any characters this one doesn't do so much for me. I actually don't like the paleness effect of it on all characters. It makes my argonians look weird.

Yes I have the scale caller skin and as soon as I seen they were giving out basically the same skin but better (the psijic body tattoos glow even brighter) I was pretty upset.

Why would they make the hardest skin to get from a dungeon completely worthless and release tattoos that look almost exactly the same for just completing a quest that takes no skill and just some time?

It makes the work anybody put in to get the scalecaller skin completely worthless.

They need to change one of them so they have different looks.
