Console vs PC: Real In Game Differences

I’m not talking about things like framerate or how quickly a mountain dissolves in the background but actual gameplay differences due to the environments we currently play in. Say what you will about lag, addons or resolution but they create a gaming landscape that can be wildly different depending on the situation, even if we are still essentially playing the same game. Here are a few PVP examples I’ve found. I’d have to imagine there are PVE dungeon differences too but that’s not my bag so I wouldn’t know.

1 - Sloads on console: Not a problem

In 10 days I have yet to see it in my death recap. Not saying it isn’t out there somewhere but I’ve gotten a good 20 hours of PVP in since the update and have yet to see it at any point.

2 - Zaan isn’t either.

When I came back to the game a month ago I was told to look out for Zaan. I did die from it once and did say “what the f” when it happened but also, it’s use is so low it’s been essentially a non-factor.

3 - Time Stop is everywhere.

XBox NA PVP is covered with bubbles. I’m as guilty as anyone. I love this move so much it’s absurd. The instant cast of Freeze Time is also highly visible on XBox and I’ve gathered the anti-healing morph is more of a PC thing.

Anyway, these are just a small few examples of real differences between the two. More and more ESO is becoming like Major League Baseball; sure it’s still baseball but one is played in a pitcher friendly park and the other is Coors Field.

I've ran in to a fair amount of sloads n zaan in battlegrounds. Tons of bleed builds there too. Cyrodiil not so much but I really can't comment much post summerset because the freezes forced me to play bgs.
    Zaghigoth- Orc Stamplar
    Soul Razor- Altmer Magsorc
    Les Drago- Redguard Stamdk
    Eirius- Altmer Magdk
    Stormifeth- Altmer Magplar

Disclaimer: My comments are a little sarcasm mixed with truth. If you can't handle that don't respond to me.

Also don't forget how much easier PvE is with add-ons that give combat alerts telling you when to dodge, block etc. and track your dots for you...

There is a reason all raiding guilds in WoW made you get Deadly Boss Mods.

I am just waiting for some PC elitist to try and refute this point, because it isn't possible to do so.

PC players have it much easier. I'd argue because of this, console players are better.

My anecdote: after swapping back (2nd time) to console I cleared VSP HM and Fang Lair HM with people I cleared SoTH HMs via random activity finder. Skill floor is definitely higher on console and everyone doing serious content uses mics. Those two advantages make it my preferred platform, though I can’t recommend “base” X1/PS4 any more than I’d recommend playing ESO on a seven year old PC. Next gen iterations should be awesome.

    Totally agree with you @Azyle1

Any achievement gotten without add-ons is easily more impressive than getting it with add-ons. Not only that but PC players have better frame-rate too. They have QoL add-ons AND add-ons that provide training wheels for PvE content. When i was watching videos to begin progressing vAS i couldn't believe my eyes when some guy had Llothis's cone appear and the add-on told him to just stand and block, didn't have to look for the green chest or anything. It's honestly a joke how much easier they have it.

At the same time, if I played on PC, I would totally use them, if I am going to be honest and fair.

Oh of course. No way i'd still stand there and hit x 50 times for 200 potions :D

Not the kind that PC get... Console cannot track all of your dots like wall of elements and endless hail... I suggest you watch a video of PC player in a raid and a console player in a raid and observe the different sensory information on the screen.

    I was gonna say ...

The floaty numbers were cool at first but I turned them off many moons ago because the ones we had on console were pretty much only good for telling my buddies how I could hit Lyminaurus with a Radiant Oppression tick in the 70 thousands when he has 1 point of health left.

PS4 NA I am seeing a lot of the same things you are here. Zaan, while I see it used, its really not prevalent at all. Sload's is around, but people deal with it.

I have never used those addons that tell me when to block or stuff like that. I dont need the.game telling me how to play the game. All i ever did was use something to tell me what damage I was doing so I could tweak rotations. Once that was figured out, the flying numbers got turned off. This part of the UI now across platforms, along with a buff tracker.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I prefer a more uncluttered UI. I used to have FTC, but I had to clean out my addons because my loadscreens were crazy long and never bothered to put it back.

Question to console players: playing ESO with a pad must be a total pain in the... or is there any way to plug a keyboard and a mouse?

Mouse, I have not tired. Keyboard only works for typing into chats. There is no option to switch controller settings iirc, it's gotta be the PS4 or PS4 Pro controller.

Also the touch pad is only used to mount(press+hold)/check maps(tap). The two analog sticks work great for me and I PvP so I need all of my inputs to work flawlessly.

This one want that addon unless it overload you with trash mob attack, had one in WOW who was very nice.
On the other hand its probably not updated for new dungeons fast enough.

I say addons, master merchant and similar for pricing makes stuff much easier.
Combat metric and similar, you can go in an look on how much damage your skills does and the up-time also look at timings,

On the other hand PC is pay to win, you can get some seriously insane rigs down to craptops who is far weaker than an One.

Synergies and Ultimate with one button also makes a huge difference, specially synergies.

I'm playing both and I still use my Xbox controller on PC most of the time but using synergies on PC is at least 5x easier, which makes you use them a lot more.

Makes tanks with Alkosh lives easier and DPSs too for resources.

Another thing is that on PC, your camera is free while your movement is tied to skill buttons while on console is the opposite. You can move freely using skills but your camera is on the finger you use for 3 skills.

I found this was, by far, the biggest difference to get used to. When tanking and in vma, it is very different to play with keyboard vs controller because of that.

Obviously what I said only applies to default controls. You can use controllers on PC and mouse with side buttons which negate a little bit of that.
