Blinking terrain and trees

Anyone else experiencing blinking trees (they flash white for a micro-second) and terrain (rocks, cliffs, etc.) constantly? I haven't checked other zones but this was constant in Craglorn.

YES! I was going to film it too. I updated my drivers, fixed my clients, whole bit, still does it. And I had husband go to the exact same location and it didn't happen to him so very weird. And yes it was in Craglorn at one of the alchemy maps. When I zones to Stonefalls it was gone.

I found that changing my graphics quality in the video settings from high to ultra-high fixed the flickering, with no sustained impact on frame rate.

It seems to be an issue where the game tries to load lower quality LOD models but doesn't always do so properly, so you get blinking, or sometimes models don't load until you're within a few feet of them. This isn't so much of an issue on Ultra but drop down to High and it's bad, REALLY bad. Sometimes things don't load until they're about 20ft in front of me in game -- trees, rocks, brush, and little world details just pop in out of nowhere, and things off in the distance start swapping models from ultra-low to high with a weird flicker.

I'm still having this happen. tried to film a bit of it, I'll post when I can. And yeah, made sure drivers updated to recent nvidia patch

I get it too, on PC NA and on PC EU, but only in Craglorn on both servers.

Video drivers are up to date.

Just noticed it in Craglorn, and then in Kenarthi's Roost.

It was on PC NA. Wasn't even sure what I was seeing.

Has happened to me in summerset, auridon, and bleakrock. More than just the trees - the entire world except for the ground and npcs disappear. I don't think the issue has anything to do with a specific area, and it's not my computer as my wife has experienced the same thing in various areas and we have two different computers with different setups.

Yes - I'm on PS4 EU and it was bugging the hell out of me on the weekend. Craglorn. Even against blue sky; continued even after fast travelling. Was making me nauseous tbh. I have a clip of it recorded but my YT isn't linked.

Very weird that it should affect both PC and console...

PS4 NA. I've seen this in several zones ever since Summerset released, but Craglorn is the worst for it.

Same here, in Brass Fortress almost everywhere, during questing in dialogs and in Deshaan Mournhold as well. Also in entry cavern to Clockwork city.

EDIT: btw. this blinking is caused by vanishing all textures except characters (looks like Assassin's Creed tutorial ). I can actually find an angle where all textures are missing and whole scene is white (except others players, mounts, pets etc.).

Zos fixed the issue yesterday with the patch



why is it ZOS seem to use the word "fixed" to mean "we broke it for more than it was before" on a regular basis

Same problem on ps4 eu. Thought it wad my new tv. Glad it isnt on my end.

Same here. I never had this issue before until yesterday after the maintenance, when they specifically mentioned that they "fixed" it in patchnotes. That was the maintenance of july 2nd 2018.

Since then,i.e. in artaeum ceporah tower, I now get flickering when walking through that door-openinges, also I got completely disappearing walls/floors during the mainquest when entering the vault of heinarwe. havent played much more than this quests so dont know about rest yet.

@ZOS_GinaBruno - cant ZOS just remove that "fix" so its working again for most of us?

My suggestion is to get recordings of it anyway and post them in the technical support forums for your platform. For the PC crowd, include hardware specs like CPU, RAM, GPU, and GPU driver version.

That said, I haven't encountered the issue much myself, but the closest I can come to it is some roofs in Windhelm flickering rapidly and looking all kinds of wrong. But this is not the same thing (I think) as the issue reported in this thread. As such, if I do encounter it as described above, I'll throw my hat in on the thread in the PC technical support area if one gets created.

Craglorn for sure, having it in Cyro and also adding the "entire assets disappear and you can now see the sky even tho you're in a delve/quest/wherever" in both crag, cyro, and a thieve's guild main story quest I did yesterday. As well as flying around I'm just getting blinking trees too.

yep I am seeing it mostly in Craglorn

I have been having invisible walls and grounds in some dungeons

but Craglorn has the open world flickering of trees and plants, thought it was my video card so I switched it out and its still happening.

Since the last update earlier this week I constantly have things blinking in and out all over Tamriel - all of Riften disappeared on me for a moment last night, and earlier in the day an outlaw refuge disappeared completely except for the floor and everything was just blue.
