    This is a repeated occurence. Is there a possibility that in the future ZOS will do something to prevent this from happening again, as in giving people an option to migrate their accounts away from steam?

    i havent used steam to log in since i bought the game in 2015 and this is the first time ive had issues, including all the times that steam users had issues, so i dont think its particularly only steam issue atm

    It is just purely dev incompetence
    But this time Steam had issues - store was completely offline, I couldn't access my account settings, Dota 2, TF 2 and CS: GO issues...

    I was able to get on for a short while and logged in and out various characters and accounts. Now I can't get on again because of time out to server. This is getting extremely annoying. PC, NA, Steam user.

    I think Steam is having issues. Can't log into another game either and according to http://steamstat.us/ some services fail and go up again all the time.

    Logging in to EU from the game directly, even skipping the launcher, worked for me now.

    ZOS should really rethink, or rather, eliminate, this whole forced Steam integration thing. I don't get it... people have their credentials to ESO's acocunt system, they can purchase games and crowns and whatnot, so it's utterly pointless.

    Sure, it's fancy that you needn't enter extra details at log-in, but for someone who hops between servers, the inability to select whether you want NA or EU at log-in, and having to wait a full character screen, then log back out (if you want to swap), is just annoying.

    It's honestly really stupid that we don't get an account that allows us to play through the non-steam launcher if we buy the game on steam.

    Nobody forced you to buy non-Steam exclusive game on Steam store. It was your choice.

    Come visit Karth's Glitter Box, Khajiit's home. Fully stocked guild hall done in sleek Khajiit stylings, with Grand Master Stations, Transmute, Scribing, Trial Dummies, etc. Also has 2 full bowling alleys, nightclub, and floating maze over Wrothgar.(Pariah's Pinacle)

    Because it was on sale and I would have expected my in game account to not require me to login through steams launcher and instead to just be linked to my steam account, like every other MMO I've ever played through steam.

    Why did they implement a freaky, not working, outright messed up "single sign-on" (rather, "single don't sign on"...) system? The thing should work like this: if you log in through Steam, a token is used to help you log in faster, if you buy from Steam, a connection is used so you can add the bought stuff to your account. If you don't log in through Steam, you use your credentials, you use your bank account to buy directly on ESO's store, etc. etc.

    Literally every other internet service I've ever used in my life has a working "Log in with something..." system. I want to log in to random website, I can either use my Google, or my Twitch, or my Facebook, or just simply type in the things I have created my account with. GitHub is down and I want to access my code review site? I just log in with my normal details, sure, I can't see my GitHub specific stuff, but all the other stuff is there. And "All of this just works", just like that.

    Back in the day when you bought through Steam, you got a CD key you needed to manually redeem over on the ESO's site. To an account you had to create manually.

    Or should I just say: Nobody forced ZOS to turn something that was working into something that repeatedly does not work?

    PC, Steam, NA server.
    First I was getting the Unexpected Error, contact customer service. I tried the "Rename the "ProgramData" folder to "ProgramDataBackup"" and repaired my launcher, to no avail. Tried to manually log in by starting the launcher from the Zenimax folder instead of Steam, and it got sulky and told me to use steam. to launch. I was able to log in this morning, and it played well enough except for to CTD's while zoning into a delve.

    Was in for a little bit of time, then game crashed and couldn't log in. Log in is timing out or get the 'internal error' message. PC, NA, Steam user
