My Stamblade has been my main for years, but her playstyle is utter crap in endgame PvE. Its why i never take her into dungeons and no way would i go into Trials. But ive seen it can actually be done properly and with high numbers.

So please, explain to me like im stupid how to dps with a Stamblade properly.

You want damage over time skills on (your bow) back bar Endless hail, Caltrops, Poison injection and Beast trap plus any long term buffs.
You want your more active spamable skills on your front bar as well as required buffs. Surprise attack being your main spamable skill.

The key is huge damage is firing your relentless focus bow procs
Ability - Light Attack - Ability - Light Attack - Ability - Light attack.
Your goal is to get two relentless focus bow procs per activation and hopefully just as you need to bar swap to throw down your Damage over time abilities

I of course have 300 ping so I gave up and just gank people in PVP with my stamblade main.

@Gilliamtherogue will probably have a stamblade guide video up soon he is going through the magblade atm and has a written guide somewhere...

For gear anything you have is fine, you can see what is Best In Slot for gear and Champion Points on Alcast's website

For skills I use the following:
Dual Wield: Rending Slashes, Killer's Blade, Surprise Attack, Rearming Trap, Relentless Focus, Incapacitating Strike
Bow: Endless Hail, Rearming Trap (for passives), Poison Injection, Power Extraction (Caltrops if you want to be vanilla), Leeching Strikes

Rotation is key. For Dual Wield / Bow setup click the spoiler here to see the rotation I use:
Start on Dual Wield using Relentless Focus then SWAP to Bow bar:

Endless Hail > Light Attack > Poison Injection > Light Attack > Power Extraction (Caltrops if you want to be vanilla) > Light Attack > Leeching Strikes > BAR SWAP >

Heavy Attack > Surprise Attack > Light Attack > (Ultimate Incapacitating Strike if ready) > Relentless Proc > Light Attack > Rending Slashes > Light Attack > Rearming Trap > Light Attack > Surprise Attack > Light Attack > Relentless Focus > BAR SWAP >

    RESTART

When the dummy or boss is at 30% or less health, do your bow bar rotation then swap and do:
    Light Attack > Killer's Blade > Light Attack > (Ulti if ready) > Relentless Proc > Light Attack > Killer's Blade > Light Attack > Relentless Focus > [Light Attack > Killer's Blade] x3 times > RESTART

Forgot to mention, try also using Damage Health Poisons on your bow. Level up your Alchemy and use Weapon Damage Potions.

Personally I use the 'Action Duration Reminder' and 'Grim Focus Counter' addons. They are a tremendous (YUGE) boon to my DPS. I keep my DoTs up on cooldown - and don't reapply them before they drop! - and I fire my GF when it's ready, if I don't have an important DoT to re-apply (endless or twin slashes).

There's no real rotation for stamblade, because nothing really lines up, so it's more about knowing what to do when. It's the most technically complicated DPS class imo, takes a lot of practice (I've DPS'd on all stam classes).

Can I ask why you have your incap on the front bar and not flawless dawnbreaker? Thought the weapon damage passive was too good on the front bar, and incap on the bow bar?

Stamblade builds use Incap on the front bar because it's a frequent source of high single target damage due to its low cost.

Unless you proc war machine via dw weapons, incap frontbar is a dps loss compared to dawnbreaker

    A short how-to on Stamblade:

    1. Practice to play a dynamic rotation. Can't? See The first word of point 1.
    2. Light Attacks and Bow procs are your number one priority until execute
    3. DoT priorities: Endless Hail > Poison Injection = Caltrops = Rearming Trap > Rending Slashes
    4. Aim for three Assassin's Will procs per cast of Relentless Focus
    5. Light Attack, incap, swap, light attack, bow. It's dope, believe me.
    6. Swap to your frontbar when you are at 4 Light Attack stacks, so you can instantly LA (5) -> Bow.
    7. An occasional heavy attack doesn't hurt if you lack sustain. If you are good at Light Attack weaving while having siphoning attacks up, you should be golden with 7 medium.

Hmm I guess... I only ever had luck with dawnbreaker front and incap on bow bar. I get the concept but I feel it’s better that way. You can still rip incap on your back bar and swap to front for a bow proc or killers blade for massive damage.

Best luck I’ve had though was only 49.5k last patch so not sure...

This is some very good info on here! I know a lot of this stuff is done to dummies which don't hit back. I have more of an issue of survival while doing bosses. I know there are many who say they can solo almost all content on all characters, but I really struggle with a stamblade to do even WBs sometimes.

If I can survive, my dps goes down because I'm using a 2H with rally or the PvP heal skill all the time. Magblades have funnel health, my stamsorc orc has crit surge, but I can't seem to survive much on the big bosses. Is this more an issue of blocking, dodging etc?

The biggest factor on playing stamina dps is knowing when to block and dodge roll. I see a lot of Magicka players switching to stam and they’re use to using shields...

Blade cloak/block/dodge roll and if you’re playing solo throw a self heal like vigor on. I can’t express that enough. Being right on the boss is different than ranging and shielding, there’s a lot more incoming damage that needs to be mitigated and moved out of.

I thought that might be the case. I still need to learn fights. Some bosses have blockable damage, but they don't display any signs of attack. I like the 2H HoT from Rally, but hate losing the DW skills.

Incap does more damage on front bar and makes it easier to swap to a set like War Machine. Overall makes the rotation easier.

Referencing #4: Personally, I get 1 proc per cast. I'm not that fast. I am very much the average player (when it comes to skill level) but I have a strong understanding of mechanics (which is why I can get 30-40k DPS ). Anything higher than 40k? YES get that to proc 2-3 times.

But you don't use incap for the damage it does, but for the damage it enables.
