Wow.

I watch videos occasionally to help scratch the itch of actually buying crown crates.

I seriously felt awful for this guy. Even when it seems his luck has changed, well, it doesn’t.

    Well, I mean, he got the BA motif book... so that's something.

    EDIT: Having now finished the video, the double kaguti pack cracked me up, but he did walk away with over 500 gems, so more than enough for an Apex mount if he'd wanted one.

    Buying crown crates basically the same as gambling, you spend money to get a chance of something that is worth more than the invested money (which already is debatable for most items).

    There are very few winners in gambling yet everyone feels robbed when they lose.

    He did not get robbed. He took a gamble and lost. I don't feel sorry for big spenders on crates.

    And the money he spend probably came from twitch donations. And he stated himself it's not a huge deal as he knows it's gambling with low drop rates. So kudos to him.

    If you watch the video you’ll see his rng is awful. Every yellow drop is a scroll, and once he gets two yellows in one box and it’s a double duplicate.

    I’m not here to discuss crates etc. just that this guy got royally screwed when he did get a good drop.

    Using laguage like 'getting screwed' or 'was robbed' makes it sounds like somebody did him an injustice somehow or that something isn't fair...

    They didn't.

    This is gambling!

    He and everyone else who buys crates knows the score and you get what you get.

    I’m a gambler, and no, $150 is not quite a lot to gamble and get nothing. It’s called gambling. Have you ever lost $600 to an inside straight flush draw with over a 98% at victory? I have, and I wasn’t robbed. I lost. It happens.

    i generally compare my chances to past batches of crates, consider how many things i hope will drop in each tier weighted against how many things have already dropped, and then decide if i'd rather spend my money or my gems. i never feel robbed, and i never have to take out a second mortgage on my house. i feel bad for the folks who aren't sensationalizing when they say Crown Crates ruined their lives, but that isn't how it works for everybody.

    He got zero apex or radiant mounts. Tons of duplicates. Most good rewards sucked.

    Yes he got gems and one motif, but who buys boxes for those? Even at the end when he shows the selection you can see any cool costume, mount, etc he did not get. But he got 10-20 Of the same crap face tattoos and lipsticks.

    Just saying this guy got an extremely terrible drop with this particular purchase

    I opened the same amount last October and got just as screwed. IT SUCKS, but you're also going into it knowing it's a gamble, so it's definitely not theft. That being said I'll probably never buy crates ever again.

    Think 'he was robbed' was meant as just an expression....RNG robbed him. He says in video he knows it's gambling but that was really bad rng. In which case, man I think my RNG got out and attached itself to you. So sorry about that.

    When will we be able to buy what we want directly in the store, instead of paying way much more money in the gambling process to get an item?

    That's the other issue what you or he think are cool/good rewards other people hate. What if the one thing somebody wanted was that Skull Mask. Then they got more than they bargained for as I think he opened like 3. Some people love the Kagouti Mounts, again think he got 3 or 4. So those people he got extremely lucky.

    He had more than enough gems to pick two APEX mounts of his choice. The system guarantees an APEX mount after you have accumulated so many gems which is usually around 15 - 20 crates. I'm not sure how he got robbed.

    Most games offer no "gem system" and it's just tough luck if you don't get something rare.

    I'll state up front that I despise lockbox systems in MMOs, PERIOD, but...

    ...this person was not robbed, and insinuating that they were really irritates me.

    I was a dealer in a casino for years. Having to hear, over and over again, stuff like "Why are you taking my money?" when I had absolutely no other option when they explicitly gave their money to me to trade for gambling chips. Or were they complaining because they lost, which I had ZERO control over, and which is what is going to happen most of the time, because odds will always favor the house.

    I can't really compare ZOS directly to a casino, but the simple fact is that crates are gambling. You have to willingly give your money for a CHANCE at something. It's not robbery if you were a willing participant and knew exactly what you were getting into beforehand, and still took part.
