Why didn't we get a new class with Summerset Chapter?

Considering we are expected to pay for these chapters that aren't included with ESO+

Why was there no new class with Summerset like there was with Morrowind?

Doesn't that just make Summerset DLC?

Because they now do a chapter a year and we dont need seven classes in the game by 2020. We didn't even need the warden but ZOS wanted to go big their first chapter to help differentiate it from the other DLC. Now that they have set the precedent that one DLC a year costs extra, they really can do anything they want and call it a "chapter"

The only reliable difference from a chapter and a DLC is that a chapter is when ZOS wants you to pay more money and not get it with ESO plus.

Well the Warden was originally going to be a base class, they held it back for future content. They probably had plans for it a different way back when it was still a paid subscription model, before switching over to DLCs. Summerset gets us Jewelcrafting that is locked behind a paid DLC that will probably open to all when the next Chapter/Expansion comes out.

If they call it a chapter, it is a chapter. If they call it a crown store DLC, it is DLC. There is nothing more to it.

Wither you want to pay for it or your don't.

I agree, Warden always seemed like it was meant to be released with Orsinium to me, considering the skills (Bear) and sets available there., especially the Maelstrom sets... Winderborn.

I'd rather see new weapons than classes. Oh let's introduce a class and cause balance issues just when everything was starting to even out.

I'd like to see wands, spellbooks, polearms (god I'd love a halberd), etc. That'd make me so interested in checking out people's toons again. NB tank duel wielding batons? Sorc healer blasting spells and topping people up from a book? Templar dps going all out with a scythe?

Warden is the worst class in the game. ZOS completely ignores it every patch. We don't need more junk in the game.

The Psijic Order skill line is actually useful and can be used by anyone.

^ this, id rather not have to level a new character again for it to be lackluster, i like the skill lines idea.

Well technically Morrowind is DLC when it hits the crown store so.....

In terms of the class, that was created during closed alpha before the PC launch and delayed to last year.

It’s as if the things they were working on from 2013-2014 were all broken into very small paid content so they could seemingly add content every 90 days

Regardless I’d rather anything new be a skill line and ideally I’d like to see all classes completely removed leaving the skill lines under some new NPC trainer/story quest

OP, you deserve the redpilled answer: Because after release they fired anyone who is capable of actually creating new content and the only people left are a handful of artists making stuff for crown store.

Tbh, id rather pay for summerset than for morrowind. Atleast we got useful stuff like jewelry crafting and the psijic skill line

Thats not strictly true they actually nerfed us this patch.. again..
