(One Of My Dream Job, Is To become a Voice Actor) (I do my best to be eso related)

Some might of known I originally wanted join Military (since I didn't got in trouble, especially me tagging zos last time. I guess it OK for me to write this) but my plan failed. Mainly because I know for fact there no way to get a Waiver. Since Military is not an option, I'm still looking out for future. Soon to be, I'm getting a new part time job, that actually pays me to work. (instead of part time job, without getting paid) sadly 13 yrs on farm, good chance I'm forced to do agricultural stuff. Since I'm not able to drive and my adoptive mom has different feelings of me driving. I mean at first she was happy. But now she tells me driving not important. It's hard to keep my counseling appointment for trying find ride and when I have ride same day, it gets cancelled. I've hear about online counseling, but don't think my insurance would cover it. I need counseling very bad...

However, going back my new part time job. Where I live it's mostly all farm work all around. Farm work is really getting boring. But until I move soon in future (my adoptive grandma not want me to move, but hopefully my adoptive mom next door in 2ND house can talk sense to her.) I want hopefully move out this year, so I can ride a bus in upper Yakima. So I could get a reasonable job, that not farm work.

Anyways there's a reason to write all these things. I'm looking out for my future and trying to learn and grow more. I know for sure, (besides being with other people who has same thing as me and likes) I want to learn to draw, digita arts wise. I'm also very good at writing, many people from elementary to current. Keep telling me I should write a book someday. That I'm gifted in the arts of writing. But my grammar and spelling is very horrible. But freelancer's are a thing after all. I keep annoying reds a lot. It's just I'm gifted in writing it's considered "spam" by others. In zone chat.

I don't know which part of ZOS that's what I think is called "sound director"? I might be thinking of something else. But I plan to draw my own story in digital art. As well as writing my own story for writing. As well as voice acting for my story. Yet the voice acting is the hard part and problem for me. I keep being told to stop mumbling. So much so I dislike talking. Due to my mumble. But my mumble can't be helped. I recently found out I have a very strong accent. By one of my friends. I asked others, they said same thing. It's just I'm upper United States, so unsure about my accent and what kind.

I know my bio mom is Irish. But most likely born in United States. Same for my bio dad, who's part Scottish in his family. Which I guess makes me part Irish and Scottish? But I to was born in United States. I know my bio mom and bio dad, both met and lived in California. But moved to Washington State to have me. In which I currently still at for 27 yes now. (I'm thinking of moving out of state some day. To start new beginning. I have always thought south of the United States has accent, unlike up North in the States. So where and how I got my accent and no one else was aware (including me) I have no clue. Could be part of benefits of being part Irish/Scottish. Then again both of my bio parents where born in United States to, but California.

All my life, least in school I have been going to speech therapist. But to no affect. But now I really hate my voice so much so, because, I kept being told to stop mumbling. What of I don't want to stop mumbling? What if I unable to and I was meant to Mumble. What if my mumble is a curse as well as a blessing for me. Curse, because good chance I'll get fired, blessing because it's whom and what I am. That I was supposed to have both accent and and mumble.

I want to sing as well and practice singing in singstar on ps4. But no friends whom want to help me in singstar. Mostly as well to help me being understood. I mean I do have reasons and my future to uphold. I really want to ask the "sound director" but unsure who s/he is and pretty busy. I want to have fun talking, I want to go parties and have fun. I want be around people to be social. I also want be volunteer fire fighter to. (greatly needed in my city especially bad fire season on mountain where I at) but I need driver's license to, hopefully I can get permission to actually do driver license and important. But being fire fighter, I can't mumble as well. So where do I turn if my mumble is a curse?

I'm forced to go off topic, because hopefully let others understand why it's important telling about my life and my troubles (woes) now getting ESO topic, I'm so embarrassed going voice chat. I know practice makes perfect. But I worry others would make fun of me. I mainly pvp. It's reason why I'm annoying in pvp zone chat. Because I want to be social. Yet I unable to be social in voice. No wonder why I feel reds are uncomfortable with me. Because I'm so annoying and considerd as "Energy Vampire" it's probably why I don't get group invites in Shor majority of time.

But if I did get invited to join group and voice chat. Why can't I talk, no matter if I want to, in which I do. So very bad. But my accent and mumble is part of the problem and blockage for me. Especially even more so if I choose to be a firefighter especially volunteer. However I really want to be voice actor as well. So how do I become a voice actor, with my problem? What if I'm unable to change my mumble. What if I really don't want to change because it's who and what I am?

Who really wants a person who wants to mumble anyway. May it be for voice acting in anime and or video game like ESO? Now are there any NPC's in ESO? Like anyone, even if only 1. Only 1 would at least will give me hope. That people like say ZOS, would want a person who mumble for a special and specific character. Yet would it be considered discrimination act, against those who mumble. For not accepting us with speech difficulties? Besides fire fighter being one of my dream job. I really want to voice acting as well. Who knows maybe voice acting for special character. Yet me thinks I need drama diploma in which I can't afford college write know. What would help me get a job in voice acting with my mumble and thick heavy accent in unknown origins of accent. What would I need to go volunteer, (don't need be Paid) for a new npc for ESO in future. If I get accepted. Where do I need to apply as well? Sorry for being long.

oh Im probably something like that. If you really want you could probably see a coach that could train your voice and your behaviour or something... Idk. Personally, most people annoy me, and I don't get along well with many. So I have no problems not talking to anyone. Yeah, Im a hermit lol, but I don't mind. It's who I am.

as far as work - man, i would have loved to have been a voice actor - and, goodness knows with the growth of the gaming industry - voice acting has many more opportunities than ever before...

i'm at the back end of my employment life - hopefully in another decade or so - i can stop going to the office and focus more on what to do with my "free" time :p

for those folks whom have been able to combine their passion (like voice acting) with their profession - they are truly fortunate...

i enjoy what i do, really like the folks whom i work with - but, work is mostly just a means to pay the bills...

hopefully there's a way you can dig around the zenimax website to see what opportunities there may be to get your voice in to eso...

Wow...it's so nice to read something besides rage and whining on these forums.

@Serjustin19 I'm by no means an expert but, Bcakstage has a great article on breaking into Voice Acting here, You may also want to look into joining SAG-AFTRA as nearly all voice acting jobs are through the union, especially in video games.

Anyway hope this helps and good luck.

There is a very interesting documentary on voice acting titled, "I Know That Voice". I believe it's on Netflix. If you haven't seen it yet it does provide some insight on different aspects of voice acting, including video games. Here is a link to the trailer.

    * Go try ESO on console for more voice in game.

    * Karoke bar sounds apporiate

If you are interested in voice acting then you would have be able pretend to have different voices. Google different acents

I don't see a talent for writing here. It's not focused enough. The story telling is nice, bit the flow was off. It could of been delivered with more impact and direction towards future. I would of ended with a declaration that you want the job.

But if you truly wish this then practice every single day, accept failures and criticism you might really need to learn not to mumble. Have the desire and grit for success.

Now if it doesn't work out then assuming voice acting is your passion then keep doing it. You work on a farm then give voices and to things not being heard. Hmm maybe maybe this into a YouTube series or story if you want. There's definitely a demand for it as current culture trends seek to embrace nature along saying things repressed by society standards. You could use animals as a media for people. Well if nothing else try to fit your passion into life as is not what could be

I once heard this story about this kid who wanted to work next star wars movie
There hadn't been any for years. The teacher gave a hopefully response to student to work as if that was his future or some lines.Years later he gets a call that student was happily crew list for next movie. So if you want to work at ZOS or in voice acting then don't just want it; make it happen.

I once read this wonderful book called last lecture. It's about dreams and making new dreams. Life is about experiences so go experience it.

There's two different lessons here one about success and other about a different kind of sucess

    ~Good luck

    Edit:

There's this actor who got into acting at 40 and now is popular character on a syfi show. There's this tv series about seniors playing pranks on people that I love.So there's that story too. Make life as you see fit even years later when this advice will apply again.

You can really do a lot of things, more than you imagine; if not everything you want. I have no idea yet what I'm doing with my life, but that's part of the fun, seeing where life takes you. I thought I was done with school and was going to get a job in graphic design, maybe the art department in a videogame dev studio. Turns out I'm going for my teaching license and working in schools (and I love it). The important thing is to take life as you've had it so far - don't regret it 'cuz you can't change it - and just make sure you keep on moving forward, working for something, and don't worry when it doesn't come out all according to plan.

For my part, I've found that you just have to let go of worrying about what you need and what has to happen (so long as you have a stable place to live and food to eat), and just try stuff. It's hard (for me in a lot of ways too), but put yourself out there. You don't have to change who you are, just don't worry about what will happen. Try doing a fun voice in voice chat in ESO, try getting in contact with the audio department of a game studio and asking how you can get involved (kind of like what you did here), try practicing singing - everywhere. Any vocal "problems" might even be able to be incorporated into your style. It makes you unique. There will be criticism, setbacks, and hardships, but that's the same with anything. You do you, and you'll find that eventually you'll be surrounded by people who like you for you, and you can do you without worrying about if people like you for you (if that makes any sense at all). You just gotta take the first step.

Honestly, it sounds like there's a lot of stress here, and I know it's... rough, to say the least, sometimes (I won't take your time with my life story, but life is rough for a lot of us out there. I can guarantee that no matter what you're going through you're not alone). But at the risk of sounding like a motivational poster, hang in there. You can do it. I believe in you. If you don't give up, eventually you'll get somewhere.

And if you're ever on xbox, give me your best voice and I'll share my terrible Khajiit voice. :3

    Hmm,

One more thing, it occurred to me how you can apply for the job in future. Assuming you really want voice acting then get on next pts cycle and do voice overs for quests without them yet.

In between then start a YouTube or some video streaming place with voice overs of lorebooks.

If zos doesn't work out try indie games. First practice on stories without voice. The really narrative ones but can't afford voice. Also compare yourself to other voice actors. As yourself why it sounds like x, or how they did that. Now you are at novice step then build profolio by some means. Offer free or reduced services for some green light pieces on steam or some other place holding indie games.

Well if this works out don't forget who gave advice :p

Thank you for sharing so much!

At first I felt that you were not sure what you wanted to do, but by the end of your post, it does seem you are set on doing voice acting AND fire fighting.

In terms of voice acting, I think it depends on what kind of voice acting you want to go with. If you enjoy playing a character, then you will naturally change your voice to match that person or creature etc personality. The mumble might be part of it, or maybe you would naturally reduce mumbling if you feel that this character wouldn't talk that way. Afterall, it is acting :) So that is part of the fun, trying out different things.

If however you don't want to change your voice personality to a character that is too different from how you talk, then you would have to look for things like @Tasear said, try to find youtube channels or indie companies that need voice actors for their projects, like stories or comics, or web series, ones where they might have a character that you would love to do the voice for, or they are at the start of the project and can make a character just for you! :) It would be awesome if there was an opening to do some voice work in ESO for you, just keep your eyes open and maybe send an email showing interest in doing this for them?

Now this might be slightly out of context for you, but one of the game series I hold most dear has the most amazing voice actors. It is the Legacy of Kain series. In this clip here you see them being silly in outtakes, joking around and trying out different voices. The characters they play in the games are very serious though. So its nice to see them playing around with their voices.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgnLO7iJZaA
In this video you seem them in character and properly acting out their scenes, not saying to watch all of this or any of it really, but if you are interested, just click through to see a few moments.
They do great work with their characters, and they wouldn't be the same without these actors, so it just goes to show how important voice acting is, but also how versatile. Michael Bell plays Raziel in the series, with an amazing voice that is close to his normal talking voice. However, he also plays other side characters with completely different voices, more monstrous and guttural. He has also played things like the boss "The Fear" from Metal Gear Solid 3, which is a big contrast to Raziel!

On the subject of fear of talking on mic: I understand this. I am female and have a very deep voice that I am very self conscious of. This has stopped me talking to people in games and even in real life calls because of the anxiety. I am more happy to talk to people in person. But anyway, that's a personal issue of mine. But what I have done is try to remind myself that people in general do not care what you sound like. I have to tell myself that its ok to talk to my guildies etc, we are just having fun, playing the game, there is nothing to be afraid of. You have to try to relax and forget how you think you sound :)

And finally on the subject of fire fighting, just don't let anything stop you if that's what you want to do! I don't know much at all about it, but I do not think your voice would be an issue to become a fire fighter :) Just find out what you need to learn and what steps you need to take in the place you live or will live, and start towards that path! :)

Hi thank you for many tips as well. Luckily for me I on PS4 EU. Voice chat is way more easier. I think pretending is going be very easy for me. My imagination is huge, unsure where or how I got my gift in writing. But blessing and really love it. I guess there a way to do same for different voices. So in a way I be like Narrator in say Eragon and Shannara series. For there audio books. I know it's same person whom does many characters. But guessing the grandfather of all series. I could be wrong. But I so love the Casca series on Cassette. (very expensive) I'll have to find people who wants to group me. If not I guess I could practice talking in area chat. It's probably best to get criticism to.

I'm confused on pts advice. Is it like actors are needed or to test? I also feel I need ZOS permission to read ESO lore books on YouTube. It be right for me to do so, plus not want get sued. I'm probably missing whole point and that all me lol. There are so many good voice actors. I guess I could try more Nordic and or Dark Elf? There is this one General NPC, at table in EP PvP base. I look up to him. Something about him catch my ears so to speak. For the services I honestly don't mind doing it for free. Probably be my best option currently. I like the building portfolio as well. I think I might of double post same quote to. But thanks again for response to :)

Hi and your very welcome for me sharing really want to. Yes to both about me really want Voice acting and Firefighting. :)
Many good responses everyone gave me and you to. I agree it would be awesome. I mean I would love to be a secret character in PvP. But PvE is always growing lol. I'm also same way with talking on phone as well. I dislike phones lol. But I understand as well with your tips to. Especially talking with guildies to. As for firefighter, besides needing permission to get driver license and driving class. Firefighter is really good.

It's just I do have a pull to be around dangerous situations. But there was a fire today though. Was fixing my Dr mower trimmer. Tore it all apart to put belt back on. Heard fire truck sirens, close by. Saw thick grey smoke to, very tall and smoke surrounding the valley. The whole upper and lower Valley of Yakima is surrounded by Valley and mountains. But it's kinda like desert, with sage bush and other bushes that are very dry. It's kinda like how it is in California. But we where I live, don't make national headlines.

Although we have a whole part of mountain supposed to fall down anytime soon. Due to certain mining accident in Mountain. Plus when it rains it really pools. So the erosion when rain fall. Hardly rains. But luckily almost everyone has irrigation. But the mountain fires, they used helicopters and airplane with sprayers to fight fires every year. Hence high demand for firefighter. I know fighting fires causes cancer. But is it better to sacrifice our lives to save many lives? I'll never forget about the fire fighters tragedy from one of the states. 16 firefighters didn't survive. Fire suddenly went out of control. Hence besides me like dangerous situations. In a way I will honor those fire fighters whom sacrifice there lives and others. I think there was a movie that been released last year or this year. About those 16 firefighters whom lost there lives.

I also originaly wanted be firefighter in Navy. But the waiver. However I hear air force is really relaxed. I haven't looked into national Guard fire fighters. I know they help with my city fire fighters. We also live 50 miles away from military testing site to. But I guess my military career option is not end. I mean sure for navy. But I love dangerous situations. But fire fighters are unsung heroes at times to. But warrior none the less.

It's about showing initiative, and desire is what I meant by YouTube series on lorebooks. There's text from lorebooks already in various places on web so you just you could add voices. Fall under educational clause and maybe make a blog on I want to be a voice actor. American culture likes these kind of moves that show you aspiring to.live your dream. It also gives you a chance to hear people's thoughts on the matter.

    .......

You should also focus on one goal at time unless you can somehow mix the two. I personally see aptitude for voice acting but not so much writing or firefighter.

Ideally you should going into creative yet social ascepts for future developments. Something you can to express emotions in creative forms.

There's many ascepts to writing. It's not simply telling stories. It's strength of words that bring attachment and some feelings in the after taste. So each word, each paragraph, each page will have to.live up to that. So yes, I don't see it.

I think it's good to hear thoughts so.let me go on. You didn't sort the context of your thread, some things are long winded. Your not careful enough.

It's is my thoughts you get praise because how well you express yourself in words. This makes me conclud that your interest in voice acting is well founded.

Jumping a bit around, but for fire fighting it does not seem like you like it. What I see I your writing the wish for meaning and purpose. The ideal of saving people is one of most addictive lures to reach for, but you don't have such desires. The way you write tells you don't want to risk your life. Along those lines you also desire respect so you picked zos as your medium to express your future.

Well, I listened to your story so maybe you aren't such a bad writier as I am quite picky on stories I like. Your tale is an interesting one, but you must not dwindle in writing the next page.

~ best of luck in your travels in tamerial and life.

    Hi, your a genius

Even though my TV screen is indeed small. There is not one whom read lore book aloud. Especially for posting on YouTube. I thought it would be under 1923 stuff to freely share and read publicly and post on YouTube. I don't know the right name of it. But what if I get ZOS express permission to read aloud lore and post on my YouTube channel? Especially write required permissions and other things (not get sued) but this could really help me out big time. Especially me talking, being a narrator among me speaking publicly on YouTube through video. Unfortunately my teeth are horrible, plus well still have mostly all of my baby teeth. I don't think wise to publicly use camera on me. Just like ESO Live Lol.

I do see what you mean about me firefighter as well as choosing one goal. I want to say why I want to choose firefighter, your not off. But same time due to my child hood past that still currently haunts me. Firefighters where involved of course, but not because of fire. Lets just say firefighters where way involved, way more so than the police. In my bio child home for 13 yrs before Foster Care in 2005. Hence why I need counseling really bad. But rides always a problem. However because of the past with firefighters helping out a lot.

Not to mention my younger bio brother went missing in the woods on property , in woods this one time. I remember 3 fire engines where there, 2 police and 1 ambulance. Due to situation of wild cougars, bears moose among other things. Could see why so many. However I was the only one whom found my younger brother. Let's just say I was guided somehow. To his exact whereabouts, found him so very fast. I of course know the whole entire woods and mountains in and out. I believe I was 12 yr old at the time when it happened. Just wanted share, but it's not rather if I like firefighting or not. It's hard to say. But one of examples of what I meant my childhood past continues to hunt. Thank you for helping me out at well :)

I've tried to contact Zenimax Online. Least I looked online to see whom to contact. I don't see any email support save for eso support. Which I don't want to use, because others might need to use eso support more. I don't want to flag because others are busy.

I could report myself to hopefully get someone attention to show me the right direction and best way to contact Zenimax. Unfortunately my best option I feel, is mail them with tracking. Probably cost me $40 though, I'm guessing because. Due to how long my posts are as well as others comments.

Good news though, Zenimax is looking for people for 2d arts among other things. But I see no voice over openings. I think I'm going to report myself, but unsure whom to contact. I just wanted to update and thanks everyone.

I mean if I was you...I would look at the credits to them game. There has be a name or names there. You could potentially find such a name and ask them on forums or linkden.

Plan b would be simply find some voice actors to ask some questions to. Ask the important questions of why voice acting and how to get into field?

Also did you practice yesterday? Has the cow or flowers have dialogue? If not make up for yesterday and practice now. I would assume first step is reading text without losing your breath. But yes no excuses, you made up your mind so set up action plan for your future.

For the Credits, I really didn't thought of that. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll check when I on. As for practice, I didn't practice yesterday. Save for maybe singing, was hoping to change my ways on episode zone chat. Hence the singing part, of practicing. I also asked questions to in zone, to be accepted.

One said don't cause drama, plus certain adult part I won't mention here. But I'm guessing good leading skills is really liked? Least for PvP EP. However I guess I already made my mind up on May 7. I had this thought, words (forgot what about) but I made 3 different versions. For me to practice. But I used my tablet first, then headphones in front of tablet. As can see I wasn't understood much. But number 2, is really good. I thought number 3 I liked. But that's all good. I'll practice today though. Your right about no excuses as well. I'll practice harder. The plan b option is really good to, thanks for that to :)

    @Tasear

Got another question I have and many thanks in advance.

I know I'm supposed to practice right now. It's just what if I actually got blessing to move out next year. (hopefully) It's just I can't afford renting houses. Especially if I had a room mate? Unsure how it's different than apartment though. But I can only afford apartment. I read good chance there be no WiFi and no Internet. I read that everyone can hear everyone. My question is I will need many years of practice right? How could I practice, in an apartment? What hrs (United States) would be best if I not working and no one asleep? I mean I can practice where I currently at. But moving in apartment, wouldn't it make practicing more hard? Many thanks to :)

This is actually an accurate article. I'm speaking from experience. The industry I'm in isn't exactly voice acting. I work in the radio industry (what's left of it), and with so many on air personalities out of work voice acting and commercial voice over has been something thousands of us have moved to. I suppose the primary unasked for advice I would give you is: be ready to be committed to this path. Success is never, and I mean ever, an overnight thing. The whole "They're an overnight success!" is just hype. The actor/actress they're talking about has been at it, in reality, for years.

All manner of voices are needed, though, in voice acting. I say go for it, but be ready to be in it for the long haul. And get some coaching and learn how to make a proper demo. That is very critical. You have the bonus of never having been in radio. :) If one of us, for example, were to put that on a resumé it would be an instant black ball. Totally serious there. It's acting, remember, and we're pigeon holed as old "Boss Jock DJ's" from the 70's. Oh, and you can get through your mumbling issue. :) There are folks who can definitely help you with that.

Good thing I thought to check up, my apologies this tag got lost in like 50 I been getting daily. Darn do I talk a lot..or maybe I just start some interesting conversations. Definitely nice to hear people's different thoughts. So onwards to more talking.

You can actually make some what of a sound proof room with eggshell cartons. You can put a mattress up on the bedroom door. There's some other methods, but people had this issue before. Only good thing about 7.6 billion people in world. Someone already been there.

Anyways, not just at home, practice everywhere. You just be that wierdo talking to yourself... it's cool. Use the world as your studio. Also listen to people too, understand how people talk. You shall be a stalker of voices.

In regards to uploading, there's plenty of public WiFi access these days from coffee shops to libraries. On that note you can reserve a study room in a library too.

I say though once you get some sort of foundation then try find work at bottom rung and start moving up. I do say one thing though... success is hard but there's no better place to crave success then here. It's simply a matter of will and creativity. So don't miss a day, don't miss the moment and one day maybe we will be hearing your voice on one of our quests.

However, going back my new part time job. Where I live it's mostly all farm work all around.

Do you get to play with and pet the farm animals? That can make it more fun, right? :D I wish I could bring my dog to work.

I talk to myself all the time. A lot of people - more than you might think - understand completely. Remember too that if you become a voice actor, a LOT of people will be hearing your voice - so might as well start trying to get used to that now lol. Confidence is key. Not always easy, but undoubtedly useful.
