They once had enough money to make a super bowl ad, now they barely have enough resources to put enough content into one patch because apparently “ there’s only so much time”. A quote from Gina lol
Edit: Honestly I’m tired, as were many before me. This game has divulged into tactics that behooves me. How do you ask for class feedback but don’t utilize it and claim it’s un-constructive. Then when constructive feed back is given page after page, you happen to go in a new direction that follows your own vision. I remember this game when I first started a couple months before ic dlc. Cyrodil was over flowing, I wanted the taste of getting the Vr level so I quested and quested (before power leveling was a thing),I saw content creators like sypher and king Richard. The time was ethereal, a good majority of players I saw and knew didn’t do just pve or pvp, they did both (even the small generic quests). While I did see the potential in the justice system, this idea was scrapped due to the amount of complaints( bro it would have been auto off in the settings why complain). Zos has captured lightning in a bottle, however they let this lightning escape when the rise of proc sets arrived, this deadly combo of gear spaced the difference between a casual player and veteran player quite significantly. This is the major reason why Zos did and more than likely will avoid balancing in the future in terms of classes. After several more attempts at rekindling with the community I.e class representatives version 1.0 such as SypherPk, Fengrush, and several other content creators you still have created a drift from developer to player. Even though some classes this upcoming patch got shafted I.e mag wardens have no cc ( I honestly didn’t know how that got through testing), Templars still have bugs, while dks did receive 1st base didn’t hit a home run ( no snare immunity to snare removal wings and combustion passive doesn’t work against certain races lol).
On topic this is a new age of gaming or better yet its been the same, the gamer has the power. Many games now have shown that they can profit massively just from cosmetics (I.e fortnite and it’s 120 million a month just from battle pass and cosmetic sales), but they have to be transparent. That means no more postponing things you said would happen multiple times or using a simple of excuse of not enough time, if you care about your players they will always take care of you.

Super Bowl ads, and those big money contests, are paid using the marketing budget. A lot of people, myself included, questioned whether they were worth the money. Personally, I am glad that they aren't doing that sort of stuff anymore.

As for what ZOS is spending the bulk of the money on, I still have my eye on a new, unannounced, MMO game.

Go play the game and stop trying to stir up trouble.
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

I’m just asking because when Gina made the post of why there were no combat balancing patches coming ( it’s been the 5 patch since we gotten one and they keep saying next patch) she blamed having a lack of time to put more into the patch.

I would prefer that rather than spend the money on super bowl ads or a new game, they keep adding to this one. Keep the old stuff and if necessary rewrite the engine for the future, add more areas, that sort of thing. But I'm fine with it as is for now.

Right... Just like people said they would be free to play within six months of release...

Money hungry in some ways, absolutely. But there are people working on things every day with wages that need to be paid, and I doubt very much that several years in they're taking in much money from base copies selling. Our one month of subbing covers maybe one hours pay for the average Joe. If you work for a living, let that sink in.

More likely because they have released, Morrowind, Horns of the Reach, Clockwork City, Dragon Bones, and now Summerset all within a year.

Yeah but there are thousands of players paying that sub, ZOS doesnt have thousands of employees working on this game alone.

They have plenty of money and bring in plenty. Would love to see them reinvest it back into the game, but we're just lining their pockets.

If you dont think this game is highly profitable you're wrong, they Would be shut down by now if it weren't.

So much this. We have no idea what their revenue is or their expenses. I am sure it is profitable or they would not continue to develop content. But we have no idea if the number of subscribers is growing or decreasing.

Sorry.... Go back and watch some of the "experts..." Some even came up with a silly "B2P/F2P hybrid..." Either you have to BUY the content TO PLAY the content, or you can download the content for FREE TO PLAY it. A "B2P/F2P hybrid" is like being "KINDA" pregnant...

As i assume an combat balance patch would be a lot like the Morrowind mega nerf I hope its delayed to some time after the heat death of the universe.

In short asking for combat balance patch is a lot like requesting close in air support from the death star.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The game is 4 years old they have most of the players they’ll ever get, their main profit is subs and maybe crowns and the only way they can keep that cash coming In is new content for the same players, not bringing in new player

If they provide good content and fix game issues , ESO will run for atleast for 3 years from now. ZOs became greedy and putting mountains in middle of the map. All DLC dungeons have one thing in common for difficulty. One shot AOEs.

They are making plenty of money, the population of the mmo and the focus on the crown store is pretty much a dead give away that they are making money hand over foot.

Many smaller population mmo's with far less $ items are still profitable.

Agreed. Blizzard set the precedent in 2015 when they stopped publishing their subscription numbers; which had dropped over 6 million from their peak... ZOS DID publish that they had sold over 10 million copies.... but that doesn't equate to that number oof subs....

EA lets you buy your houses in game with credits, all the houses they make you can either use real $ or credits, also decorations you have the option to buy any decoration in the game if someone bought it with real $ and listed it on the gtn. All the best things now a days on ZoS are online cash shop only.
