Also, anyone advocating for the absolute piece of crap manual targeting system it used to have is downright loony. There was no good way to 'aim' that heal, especially on consoles, which made it 100% worthless. At least now you dont have to try and manually target the DPS in the middle of a mob of enemies and other group members in order to effectively heal them. Smart targeting was definitely needed.

Controlled targeting was fun in PvP, where the skill could be applied to a tank as they entered the crowd and begin healing as they took damage
with smart targeting and instant heal it is no longer viable to use it for predictive healing in this manner

that said, personally looking forward to having it as an emergency heal,
so no real complaints about it being moved to smart targeting

Just don't use it for yourself in an emergency.

My emergency tool is still Dark Cloak and disengage -- my heal build does not even have a way to fight enemies anymore, so mobility and distance are my safety guards
after the update will likely use Shadowy Disguise rather than the Cloak burst heal
but at least ZOS is fixing the issue with all HoTs being made to crit while in Disguise
so people will not be able to whine about my Nightblade providing imba heals from crit exploit

I mentioned some things in PTS forum but I think it's interesting for people to know. I checked that like 3-4 weeks ago so things may have changed.

The 8 second "Health Drain Cost" pulls you out of cloak every second leaving you unable to cloak for 8 seconds.

You can spam it through walls so nighblades will hide somewhere in a tower and heal their mates.

The heal amount is very high. I reached around 18k tooltip heal on PTS.

    actually, scratch that
looks like the first priority when this hits live will be to bug report that the new DoT it inflicts is pulling the caster out of invisibility
    -_-

Make it cost magicka instead. The ability will burst heal the caster and place a dot on an enemy. Would make it an awesome heal in pvp and more in line with siphoning abilities.

Healing an ally isn't necessary. Nightblades will never be PvE healers and the current malevolent offering won't change that.

Why don't you think it will change that? What exactly makes a PvE healer?

Hate to break it to you but nightblades have been pretty decent pve healers for a while now.
