what's dreugh wax made of? and which body part does it come from?

Dreugh waxes are bought and sold for thousands of gold in the market and people put them all over their armor. This got me wondering... What's dreugh wax made of? And which body part does it come from?

    I think it comes from Dreugh hide, theoretically. Perhaps Dreugh hide, when stripped off, has a waxy layer under the shell/exoskeleton or whatever Dreughs have.

    On a more serious note... just look at some real world equivalents for animal-derived wax and use your imagination...

    What I want to know is why dreugh are leaving their wax in my stacks of unrefined cloth and leather.

    Its the waxy substance that impregnate their shell exoskeleton so it does not suffer from salty waters of the sea and ponds.

    Dreugh seem to roam the area a lot leaving the traces of this waxy substance on plants. Some animals eat these plants and other animals eat the forementioned ones.

    Dreugh wax is a tough, waxy substance scraped from dreugh shells.

    So there we have it, you scrape it from the shells!

    Better question is, why can't we get it in bulk from the actual dreugh? Why only scraped off plant fibers & animal hides?

    I remember new me, knowing the gold mat for clothing was dreugh wax and slaughtering tons of them (mostly outside Wayrest) waiting for the exciting drop that never came.

    Sold for thousands of gold? Geez I think I am selling them to the trader for what 3 or so gold. What am I doing wrong here?

    @Davor

    There are some things worth selling to NPC Vendors, like

    1. Completed Foods, Drinks and Potions/Poisons you made to level a Craft. Or, ones you made to use up extra ingredients (which can be a good money maker).
    2. Trash weapons and armor you don't need/want to decon or research are good to sell to NPCs Vendors.
    3. Tier 6 Green Recipes are best Vendored too if you don't need them.
    4. Trophies for Fishing and Monsters should be Vendored

    Everything else should be sold through a guild store. Note you don't need to use a Guild that has a Kiosk, but it can help with sales if you do.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
