How about the ability to transmute weapon and armor levels?

Not sure if any discussion has been out on this matter prior, but, I would the option/ability to transmute a weapon or armor piece (obtained by lower level toons) to higher levels or CP 160. It would be similar to what we are capable now with the trait transmutation. Prior to the current trait transmutation, it was utterly ridiculous farming every damn things for your weapon's trait as sharpened, only to get one like a month or 2 later. Likewise for the past couple months now, I have been farming for a particular 5-piece set and finally just short of one 1-h weapon, which is seemingly so damn elusive. Even during the extended period of the late-Jubilee/4th Anniversary event, I had dedicated more times into ESO and farming for the 5-piece. I am just short of this one certain elusive 1-h weapon to complete my hybrid dps/tank build.

I then created a new toon during the anniversary event and still leveling it, currently. The sad thing is.. I found the 1-h with this lowbie sometime last week. Dammit all! It wasn't the exact trait I was looking for. Although, we can transmute the trait, it really didn't matter because it wasn't CP 160 level. I have four different toons with Treasure Hunter passive and been rotating them in the area, and going on a couple months now and through countless advance and master chests and bosses, none are yet successful to even come up with this 1-h in any trait. Dammit.. if only we have the option to transmute to CP 160, I would have been set with that one I found with my lowbie, non-Treasure Hunter passive toon.. and from a simple chest, mind you. What the hell, man?!! Ha ha.

We really need the option/ability to transmute weapons and armors to a higher level. Farming for gear is just so crazy and ridiculous on ESO!

Yes, I too have gotten an elusive 1h weapon in level 42 on a new toon. At the same time, I'd be afraid of opening a door to raising gear level to 200 if there was a means to change gear levels.

I hope you're right.. the 1 million dollar question would be when? Dammit. Say it is so with Summerset. Ha ha

If things get the increase to CP 180 or whatever, and we have to farm all over again for CP 180 armors and weapons, I would literally throw this game right out the window. There is no way in hell I will farming everything again for 15 toons.

Honestly, I kinda think the smart choice would be for BoP gear to scale with you. 1-160, it doesn't care. Just like how the event and DLC recipes scale.

    I said it elsewhere:
Who knows, maybe someday they will redo their entire gear system, and adjust it to the scaled game... no more gear ranks, just "basic gear" and some slight improvements through crafting materials instead... so for example rank 1 crafting materials gave base stats, rank 2 materials +2%, rank 3 materials +4%, rank 4 materials +6%, rank 5 materials +8%, rank 6 materials... you get the idea, right? Possibly better materials also providing more durability then cheap ones... but all "material ranks" still staying within shouting distance of each other (as battle levelling basically already enforces, just making it official then)...

I mean, I never felt it a good idea to have a suit of armor that a character cannot yet use due to "level". I mean, how? How could it be that a warrior can use a iron chainmail, but somehow can't don the same chainmail if made from mythril? That would make no sense, right? I mean, a hobbit on their first adventure can don a mythril shirt if someone gave them one, right? Right? ;)
...I for one would love to see a "one rank for all" approach to gear, and just make the advanced materials give small extra advantages in effect and durability... and then balance by making those materials way more rare then the current "easy farming" instead. Make most NPCs drop just basic "crafting rank 1 (for rank and file trash mobs) & 2 (for stronger or named mobs)" gear, and make it entirely viable to use that for endgame characters... though of course they will want to get that tiny extra edge coming from better materials, even tho it might be a pain to farm (at the good stuff might only come from rarer conquests, dolmen, dungeon and world bosses, etc.)...

Still, not like its a big thing, tho it -would- be a more elegant solution to the crafting rank issue... (and yes, I doubt they would want to take the time and effort to do it, since it nets them no extra profil. Merely daydreaming here about what could be...)
...then the whole question would not arise in the first place, and we would have one "level" of gear just like we now have one "level" of soul gems where we once had many... (and the game progression would not focus so much on replacing your gear, which I personally dislike anyhow, but could be diverged into other areas... like new skill lines to learn, morph and max, be it weapons, guilds or class specializations... but y'all knew I would say that, right? ;) )

@TheShadowScout well, yes, i understand the convenience behind that, but it would melt two kind of progressions together, wouldnt it?
First the progression through levels and second the progression through higher gear.
When i leveled my 13th twink during anniversary event i really enjoyed getting that lvl 35 willpowerring and swapping it with my lvl 15 one. That feeling would be gone and instead of beeing happy twice (lvl and gear) im only happy once (lvl)
I imagine same for finally getting that cp 160 velidreth helmet, i guess it makes up for the „grind“ behind it.
Different story if they decide to raise gearcap. Would be a chore for veterans with 13 chars.

I would love this . ZoS probably wouldn't go for it because it would lower game time needs for grinding gear or if they did they'd make a new equal grind for mats .
