Transmutation crystals question

If you have 160 transmutation crystals at the time your ESO+ wears out, do you loose those 60 in excess of 100 ?

I'd assume the crystals will just sit there until you need to use them. But if you go under 100 you won't be able to have more than that until you redo your eso+1
