If eso is unplugged think of it as a blessing. We will all quit being eso zombies and start living again.

I guess loot boxes will help keep ESO going - just like the limping LOTRO.

Surprising Lotro still has tons of people still playing though, I just got back into it and still has like 15 servers

As of 2015 there are 5 US servers and 5 EU servers.

Oh yeah my mistake woops thought someone said something 15 servers on the discord but still quite a few servers for such an old game, nothing compared to WoW though but still pretty good shape

I agree i go back every once and awhile the server im on seems pretty active.

Their forums are going crazy because Standing Stone is owned by Daybreak and daybreak is shutting down.

Well DB isn't shutting down yet they have till June to come up with why they own Turbine I thought, also according to a dev stream that SSG is a stand alone company and just used DB as an advertiser

I'd be really surprised if ESO goes down any time soon. Look at WoW, it's gotten the best part of 14 years and still going (though maybe not "strong" lol) Listening to Bethesda's plan for the Elder Scrolls at the moment they have no plans at all for a single player any time soon so I have a feeling they're pushing customer's back to ESO to keep them satisfied until Elder Scrolls VI.

With the amount of lore, story and content they have the potential of releasing is immense so it's not like they are lacking of ideas either.

I have faith in ESO, it's the first MMO that I actually want to come back to day after day, not feel forced to come back to just to keep up with everything.

    EDIT: Spelling :pensive:

On lotro FAQ page there is this

    What’s happening:

The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online have been acquired by Standing Stone Games, a newly-formed independent game studio made up of the same groups that have been working on LOTRO and DDO for years. We remain committed to both games, and are thrilled to be able to take these games in exciting directions for a long time to come. Standing Stone Games will operate as an independent studio, with global publishing support from Daybreak Games.

Played Lotro back in Vanilla and MoM days, and keep up with it from time to time. I remember when this was happening, forums were afire with positive vibes of hope. Folks were hoping it would take the game into a good direction. I lost track of it since then though. Loved playing it back in those days!.

On the subject...I don't see it happening, but if it did (Grabs his "what if" glasses), People would most like migrate over to Skyrim. the Mod community, which is still busy even at this point, would have a rebirth and skyrocket with mods to cover the loss. There may even be folks that "redo" some ESO aspects in their mods. And the community at large would put a crap-ton of pressure on Bethesda to release ES6 sooner then they plan on (which currently is a long time in the future).

Hwever, given this theoretical possibility, Bethesda would most likely bring out ES6 sooner, since they wouldn't have all this developer time invested in ESO. So end result is ES^ would simply come out sooner, while the skyrim mod community would be more popular then ever due to all the converts that ESO brought it.

Just for reference, did WoW die out? Nope.

Not even mediocre MMOs such as Dungeon and Dragons Online have been completely shut down. Fear not traveller.
