Why is gifting still not a thing?

Why can't we gift crown store items? I want to gift a friend an Adventurers Pack with the crowns I have but there is no option to do so. I saw a post (link below) that mentions a very convoluted way to do so through customer service but its kinda surprising there is no easy to use in game option yet. Is this anywhere on the ESO radar at all?
