Game Translation request and full discussion

- So first of all this is a request and my english is not perfect but I don't think anyone will have any problem understanding what I'm about to discuss, so I decided to make this thread because I've seen that the game have few translations, French, Japanese and German if I'm not wrong... And after playing the game for while I realise how huge the Brazilian comunity is in this game and for sure lot bigger than French and Japanese comunity for sure, so decided to requeste a PORTUGUESE translantion to the game aswell and give zaos some points why we should get a translation to portuguese aswell

1 - We have many youtube channels in portuguese focused in Elder scrolls online or which releases every once in a time ESO new content

And many more... The 1st video was made in 2016 had 28k likes for exemple! and for sure the player numbers would grow alot since we preffer to play games in portuguese. We have many people playing ESO in PC version but consoles aswell.

2 - We have big active comunities in social media like facebook:

3 - The comunity was trying to translate the game by itself for over 3 months, but that takes time and money to keep up the servers which many people were donating to help, and we keep translating the game but let's face... Its not an official translation...

4 - We have few guides, websites to help or own comunity ingame like

5 - Brazil is not the only country that speaks portuguese, and portuguese is the 5th most speak language in the world, also the 3rd most speak in occident with over 250 million people
(Obviously I don't mean by that every person who speaks portuguese would play ESO or something like that lol... but our gaming comunity is huge.)

6 - We have many successful games translated to portuguese where our comunity is huge like: League of legends, Player Known Battlegrounds, country strike GO, Wow, Dota, Black Desert and many other games

So those are the points I had in mind when I decided to write this, I know some might be silly but still I had to talk about it
I really hope this gets to zaos and at least they think a little about it... ESO is an awesome game with a awesome story, it would be nice if everyone could understand that and have a full game experience playing it... And I know there are probably other countries which wish they could have the game translated to their language, like I know the spanish comunity is also big and they were translating the game also by theirselves but I made this thread to talk about my own comunity but feel free to discuss if you want to make some points to your own comunity to get the game translated if you wish... Thank you!

Considering that several other games distributed by Bethesda are translated, it is a bit sad for the Brazilian community not to receive ESO in our native language.

I'm sure that Zenimax could even discard dubbing at the time of translation (since it tends to translate even the lines), and only bring interfaces and subtitles to the language of our country. I believe that it would be a way to economize and please your audience.

This is a good idea and a well-written, well-supported argument to add a Portuguese version of the game.

I am sure Zenimax could find a few Brasileiros gamers who would be eager to assist in this project.

I suppose so, if professional translators were hired in the United States to do all of the work. There must be an enormous amount of text dialogue alone to translate. Then there are all of the tooltips, UI menus, maps, etc.

However, this work might be ideal for a crowd-sourced project of volunteers. Just a thought.

It is a tall order. Yes, I am sure that a lot of games, including Bethesda games, are in more languages than ESO has been translated into. It is still a tall order to translate into Portuguese.

Considered what it will take to add even one language to the game. It is more than just translating the game. Just for the game, they have to translate thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of lines of dialog, the UI, all of the books and in-game text, they have to hire voice actors, a recording studio, and then record and edit all that dialog, place it in the game, and then patch the game so that people who own the game can download it. This is what ZOS would have to do. Not just subtitles.

What about language specific press releases? News articles? The knowledge base? The ESO store, forums, and account websites? Make them read the English, French, or German version?

Yeah, I would love to see them add a language. This would be a huge indication of investment into ESO by the studio. For the same reasons, I don't expect it. My perception is that ESO is "mature" and that ZOS is done with the big investments in the game.

Zenimax translates the game into Portuguese, it has a huge RPG market in Brazil, if you translate it will practically monopolize the market, because your MMO is the Best today! Even without translation, there are already many players who play without understanding any English and still have not abandoned the game, please take a look at Brazil ...

He was very wrong in that statement, we recognize that, but the Brazilian ESO community is "large" even without translation, whenever there are events that are temporarily free, there is a large mass of Brazilians who try to give the game a chance, but get frustrated right away by not being able to leave the tutorial and immediately after uninstalling the game, zenimax is losing a lot of money from possible future players, Brazil has over 200 million inhabitants, the game market here, although it has a lot of tax, the Brazilian spends a lot on games, okay that MMO is not very normal in our culture, but Brazil has a huge lack of MMO, if Zeni translated the game, surely she would perhaps even monopolize the market, because everyone we know that the quality of this is unparalleled, no MMO RPGs surpass it so far.

I'm pretty sure you play on NA, so ofc the Brazilian population is larger than the French one over there.

Regardless, Zeni doesn't seem to be willing to add new translations to the game. On pc eu the zone chat is almost entirely Russian at times, but they still didn't get their translation and have to resort to mods.

Until they add more translations just play the game in English, which is what many non native speakers do (myself included).
