Crown Store

I just want to say this mmo's cash shop is beyond weird.. I think its effectively the first store i've never actually wanted to buy anything in.. i have 3900 crowns from my ESO+, i purchased both of the starter packs... and well i look in the store daily and for the life of me i cannot find anything that interested me enough to actually even use the crowns i own, let alone buy more...

Why do they hide the best content behind loot boxes many customers will not buy.. why are costumes so lackluster and limited, as well as well hair styles we already get at creation.. no good skins no real polymorphs no anything.. its a pretty boring cash shop...

I'm relatively new to ESO but i see a lot of customers running around on things and have pets that just don't exist in the store.. Seriously does Zenimax not want customers to use the crowns store.. And if so why the hell do we keep getting it popup if there's nothing in it worth buying..

I understand companies make money from these things (even though we paid for the damn game multiple times, which is a bit slimey) but at least put some stuff into the store so customers can use it..

I have ESO+ also, and I usually use my crowns for Experience scrolls, tri-stat foods, or Crown Repair Kits, which unlike regular repair kits that you buy from a merchant, repair EVERY piece of damaged armour at once.... Plus it's handy to have a Repair kit in your inventory, so you can repair stuff on the fly... for example, right before a big Boss fight...

First time I read some one is actually buying supplies from the crown store.

Do you guys feel the store is a bit limited though... as in all the best stuff or at least interesting stuff is never in it.. or seldom is?

If something good goes in the crown store and not in crown crates its only there for a couple days at a steep price. Then 6 months down the road it gets put in the crown crates and sold for gems.

I would certainly spend more crowns if some of the crate hidden items were simply available in the crown store. I don't mind spending crowns if I know exactly what I'm getting for them. I do refuse, however, to spend a single crown on a 'mystery box' (crate). Ever.

Similar on the 'limited time' crown store items. While I normally play daily, sometimes I may be out of town or ill or otherwise not playing for a few day and find limited time (as in just a few days) items aggravating.

I do like the crown store overall, but in these couple areas would love to see some changes. :)

Totally agree the hidden behind RNG crates just isn't worth my time and money.. Honestly why not add items to the store so we can actually buy some.

I subscribe to the game because I love my crafting bag and it’s only $15 a month.

So each month I do receive crowns - not sure how much. Guess I should pay more attention. Anyways the crown store is definitely underwhelming.

I have over 20k crowns and I really can’t find anything that’s worthwhile or interesting to spend.

The crown store used to have really nice stuff. The monthly showcases were full of interesting things, available for the whole month, not "limited time offers". But now everything good, from mounts to costumes, has gone to the crates, forcing a player who wants a specific item to gamble and spend a much higher quantity to get the desired item, instead of buying it directly from the store, for a flat fee. Our lackluster crown store is due to scam crates being the principal bussiness model (rather predatory, if I may say so) right now.

Agree with the sentiments here. There are things I would buy on the spot if they were available, within the range of reason of course, but since I'm not a gambler I won't buy crates in the hope of getting items I want. I guess you could argue that gem extraction sets the price of the items you do want but IIRC you can't exchange everything you get for gems so in the end some people will get a better deal than others due to chance.

There must be sizeable enough segment of the eso community that isn't morally opposed to gambling for virtual items like I am or else they wouldn't be incentivized to continue it as a practice. For those of us that like knowing what we are buying and for what cost, you're just out of luck I guess.

Those cosmetics packs are actually well worth.

They let you change your look on the fly with instant access to all the character creation options, and for a great price compared to single cosmetics.

I would spend more in the crown store if I could buy something directly, and reasonably. I have no intention of ever buying RNG boxes, no matter what exclusive items they put in those.

Exactly the same so many things i'd buy but not RNG silliness i'm completely again gambling.

ZoS won't be happy until people direct deposit their paychecks into their account.

To lock up the best items the store has to offer behind a gambling system is ridiculous beyond words, and the meatheads who think this idea is good clearly never played games (too busy scamming friends and family of their money).

I actually didn't start this thread to bad mouth ZoS or Crates even though both can be suspect  I am actually quite shocked to see that after leaving for 4 years and just returning thats all the crown store gives us..

Honestly pretty meager amount of items in it. Other mmo's i played (and i played a lot over my years) had huge amounts of stuff in them.

They rotate items out in order to push quick sales. There have been quite a few skins and polymorphs. And of course pets and mounts exist outside of the store, people would be pissed if they had an entire type of item that didn't exist in game.

If you're really that interested in throwing your money at the crown store (never seen someone beg to do that before) then just wait a few months until something you like shows up.

Like others have said, I would buy a lot of these items if they sold them straight up.

But every instance of RNG in ESO feels super-rigged against the players. I'll suffer through it in the game but there is no way I'm playing with my real money like that :p It's not even one of those questions of having disposable income vs not having it, crown crates just seem like an unwise purchase overall when you look at the numbers (no offence to anyone that buys them, just my opinion).

I'm not begging i just figured i have the crowns now i'll have a look to use them and well nothing really seems that worth it.. I see all these awesome looking stuff on other characters and think did they really all throw millions of dollars at crown crates or is there something i'm missing..

I guess i'll wait and see.

Yep. I have 5,000 crowns saved up and nothing to spend them on for over 6 months. I guess I could buy the merchant or banker, but meh. I don't want to spend them for the sake of spending them lol. I'll just continue to horde them, and I'll likely not ask for any on my B-day like I planned on doing.

There are some nice mounts in the Crates, but I refuse to gamble. When I see something I want and I have the funds for it, I prefer to just, you know, buy it. Why should I spend money on crates when I know I wont get the thing I want, and instead will get a bunch of junk that I couldn't care less about. It's like going to a vending machine, putting your money in, and not being able to select what snack you want. You always hope for a treat like chips, or a candy bar, but instead you always get something boring like sunflower seeds.

I think crown crates are slimy. As for the crown store, I do see where you are coming from as a new player. I do think they should have a section, wether in game or on their website, where you can explore previous items that were for sale and can buy. It's a lot of stuff too.

know what you are saying , if they put a 1 shot bow in the store think they make millions , buy then they loose a lot of players , so they have to be sure what they sell is not overpowered , so pets , costumes , furniture , etc is the norm .

since you started the post what do you want then, please state the post is like a 1 liner .

if you're new i would recommend the adept starter pack, for 1000 crowns (i think?) you get three costumes, a mount, 10 xp scrolls, 10 semi-op crown meals, 3 costume dyes to make yourself look purdy, 5 scrolls to increase your mount's speed, stamina, and capacity, 10 crown repair kits, 20 soul gems, and a metric crapton of restoration potions. pretty good value i think.

otherwise the only things i've ever bought in the crown store are dlc and a guar mount. i kind of agree with you, nothing else seems worth it to me.

I want what everyone else has.. glowing mounts and awesome costumes pets that have cool blue glowing tattoos on them.. etc but obviously i either missed the train or they were hidden behind lock boxes and cost like 1000 dollars... to get...

      Nice hyperbole though..

I looked at the datamined stuff. There are items I'd love to buy, mounts and pets, and even a couple of the motifs. I won't buy any of them if they are in the crates. I´d love to pay, let´s say, like 15 bucks for one of those awesome psijic mounts. Even a couple of euros for the coral crab. But, as everything I could be interested in is locked behind scam crates, I will simply not pay a single cent. Bye game support. Sure, it´s just me, won´t hurt ZO$, but will keep my money safe till I decide to spend it in something I really know I will recieve once I´ve bought it, instead of being wasted in buying some low chance to acquire the wanted digital (just pixels) item.
