Get rid of armor repair and weapon charge

What’s the point of armor and weapon damage and repair? Death has its cost charged by soul gems, why having us to buy repair kits or repair at merchants, it’s just unnecessary imo.

Its an archaic mechanic from an era long past. At this point, it does nothing but serve as a minor inconvenience to us when we forgot to replenish that stack of repair kits in our bank.

Also the whole idea that we need to charge weapons with soul gems is ridiculous even if it is "lore".

If they can't fix the fact that my screen freezes up for a full 1.5 seconds when a weapon loses or re-gains it's charge then it should be out of the game all together.

Having to repair broken armour is completely standard fare in MMOs. And charging weapons with soul gems fits in with the Elder Scrolls universe.

If you're on PC you can install an addon that does both for you automatically so you don't have to think about either ever again.

I´d get rid of armor repair. Don´t see it neccesary or useful at any level. Soulgems for weapons tough, I consider that is a needed feature, derived from lore.

armor repair is just a huge annoyance in this game. More so than in any other I have played. Armor gets damaged by damage and not by death. So even if you play well and never die, you still have to repair and waste gold on it. I would be 100% behind abolishing this nonsense. If armor would just degrade when you die I would also be on board. I do like the charging mechanics though.

I don't really care either way, but I generally am opposed to pseudo-gold sinks that penalize new players while letting the players who actually have gold to sink just cruise by on a pile of repair kits accumulated from 3 years doing writs...

Actually your armor degrades with XP gains and death, not damage.

Gold sink for repairs and replayability/gold sink for recharging weapons. Gotta either buy full gems, fill them yourself, or get them as drops so it makes people play content to... play content?

Charging weapons is not a problem because you will be getting soulstones a lot (unless you are pvping day and night)

Armor repair doesn't even cost a lot. I play hours and only pay 1.5k gold for repair and during that time I made a lot more than that.

Repair kit. Seriously why do you use it. I only use it in trials, veteran dlc dungeons or in vMA.

Because weapons and armor are made out of unobtanium and should never break. Aside from the gold sink(which I dont care about one way or the other) it provides mild incentive for people not to die as much

    It needs to be change.
Lore wise repairing went into that items craft line. You had to have high enough skill level to repair an item your using, they should look at revamping it that way.

    Soul gems recharge is fine.

Yes, but you can ignore the other ones. Housing and Outfits are purely optional. Only Armor Repairs and Recharges are required to play the game. To get the repair kits from Crafting you have to spend resources to do the writs, so those are not free.

Repair/recharge hardly qualifies as a gold sink.

Soul gems literally grow on trees. I don't know anyone who has less than 1000 in their inventory (you'll get a new stack weekly if you do pledges).

Crafters have just as many repair kits too. If you're not a crafter, you can buy them for pennies in guild stores.

The game really DOESN'T have enough of those...hence the broken economy. The crown store and Asian bot farming is largely responsible for that.

Also, they sell gems and kits in the crown store...speaking of that devil. that's another reason the mechanic won't be going anywhere.

I like how the arguments for keeping these are "It's whats always been done" or "Gold sink"

    1) Yes it's how it's always been done, that doesn't make it how it should be done. Imagine if that's what we all settled on? "Oh you want to make a fire? But we've always eaten our food raw, that's how it's always been done"

    2) Gold sink.... what gold sink? It costs what 200-1000 gold depending how much you died? That's pennies. Soul gems to charge a weapon? I get so many I'm constantly selling groups of 200 or giving them away.

If you could repair your armor and get some sort of benefit or if it were a skill line or just for RP purposes I wouldn't have an issue, but that's not the case. Instead repairing gear is a minor annoyance which has virtually no effect on the player, theres no point to having the system in the game any more.

Now charging a weapon, for the love is this annoying! I've got 100+ soul gems (I'd have 1000's if I didn't sell them) and yet there's no auto re-charge a weapon option? So instead I have to stop and navagate the UI menus (which sucks on PS4) and chose to manually recharge my weapon................................... every............................ single................................. time.

    Both systems need to go!

only thing i prefer though is maybe make longer the time it is needed to recharge and repair.

and i thank god for that because i hated skyrim and oblivion.
    i prefered and preferr morrowind.
and in morrowind we had repair weapons and recharge items that use soul gems.

    in addition to that:
skyrim and oblivion feel dead, eso feels alive and has real people running around in it.
