Healing without Resto Staff

I made a nb healer and only half of my abilities are from resto staff, others are not. Same with my warden healer. I have never used a sorc healer, dunno how that works. The skill advisor helped me build my nb healer mostly, it gives some pretty silly advice sometimes, but mostly its pretty useful. Especially when i had no idea bout any aspect of nb''s. When I get more crowns i will prob make either a sorc healer or tank , just to see how it is. Eventually I want to have a healer, and tank of all classes, and see how they are.

No my sorc does use resto staff, but I'm not wanting to use it with other healers I'm going to play. Sorry for the mix-up.

the alter spells a huge waste

undaunted also has energy orb which I slot for vet dungeons because its insanely stackable

Sanguine altar costs 1700 magic and lasts for 46 seconds and has a synergy that heals for 40% health. Hardly a waste. Oh and has a 28 meter range.

Thinking about using it on my nb healer. Seems like a good option. I would use overflowing alter though, since it increases the healing done with the synergy.

Personally I think half the passives don't work anyways, I notice 0 difference in healing when I've got my dual blades out as compared to when I have my restoration staff out. Templar heals are about 100000000 times better than restoration staff heals anyways, the only positive part is to the staff is that heavy attacks refill your mana.

It is a crazy boring weapon choice.

i have used both, and use to use overflowing but overflowing costs literally twice as much for only 70% of the uptime, that is the main fraw to me, the low effrot to keep it up. 40% vs 65% base on the synergy is nothing compared to the guaranteed cheaper, longer heals with sanguine, most dps have 17k health, 40% of that is ~7k, with overflowings 65%, it would be ~12k, both would save their lives just fine.

People really seem to either worry about min/max (I haven't even reached max level on my main), or forget about support classes. Sad lack of variety from what claims to be a very open ended game. I also do a lot of plate armor on my sorc healer, and she's amazing. With resto staff for her.

I’d suggest a Templar over Warden but try both however you’ll need a healing staff on one bar at least if you plan to do vet encounters.

Such a build would be easier on a warden, rather than a sorc, and I've been in groups with warden healers that didn't use a resto staff and had no problems. You would lose the passives, and then you would have to find a way to keep up SPC uptime, and provide minor beserk. I think Draugr's Rest could be a good candidate set, if the area it covered was larger, because you can proc it on cooldown.

Templar is better for new healers and secondary DPS support for 4 man groups, however, this doesnt make it inferior to warden, or better either.

Warden is much better for large group support, but a templar with practice can be equally as good if not better in some ways.

Really, best way to start is to max a templar out, and then a warden afterwards. Both have fantastically powerful skills. New players will find warden pretty hard though, so absolutely templar goes first. Wardens biggest weakness is its dependency on stacking and mobility.

My main is a healing sorc, which I love. I play healers in all MMOs, and generally play all healing classes. Problem is I'm getting so bored with resto staff already. Are there healing builds without resto staff? More specifically I just started a warden, and would like to not go that route. Any ideas? Also, would be interested to hear if any ice warden builds are viable yet?
