If this person thinks that cosmetics are a form of winning then there's probably no reasoning with him. There seem to be a lot of people who just don't know what P2W means, these days. You can always try educating him for the sake of your friendship, but good luck with that, some people just like to badmouth games, like as a hobby.

The good news is, the occasional rant review like that has little to no effect overall.

The key thing, if you still enjoy it, keep on playing. Plenty of other people to connect with out there.

ha, I get sick of those whingers ranting about grinding and stuff, and preordering is ruining the games industry blah blah blah. Firstly, most games have grind. Doing the same thing over again, as soon as you do an activity a second time it becomes grind. It's how much grind you can tolerate. And, as a games journalist with looking at 14 different MMORPGs with a critical eye, my opinion is that ESO isn't that bad and certainly not the worst. Secondly, preordering is great, I myself have preordered Summerset and I have no intention to ever stop preordering. It gets publicity and funds for the devs, cool loot for the players and new players into the game.

There'll always be whingers, I guess that is just how it is. But good on you for not letting your friend's ranting get to you!

Lol. The problems of this game have nothing to do with the gameplay or ZOS making it P2W.

This game has some of the best gameplay out of any game I've ever played, and I have played many video games it is one of my main hobbies.

The problems stem from the *god awful* *poor* server quality.

It's just pathetic. ZOS-- Upgrade your servers and bring weekly maintenance times down to ~1 hour, immediately

Well yeah, basically. That's the whole premise of P2W. Pay money -> get either access to or clear advantage over those who did not pay.

this kind of key additional content was supposed to always be kept in the game (as per their former declarations)

But I can live with that as I dont see them changing their mind and this is not game breaking for me

Bugs and lags are a bigger concern to me for now

Well yeah, basically. That's the whole premise of P2W. Pay money -> get either access to or clear advantage over those who did not pay.

By that statement all games are P2W. Since all games you either have to pay to get access too or you have to pay something that gives a clear advantage over free players. Someone has to pay the electric bill.

P2W Games

* Pretty much anything on Google Play that is considered a game
* Every game from Bigpoint( Browser based games)
* Games from Aeria( Last Chaos was one of their more popular ones).

Those are pay 2 win. ESO is not even close to P2W. You will know when you are playing a p2w game because you will have to fork out $30-$40 a month or more to remain competitive. A chapter once a year for 30 bucks does not even come close to p2w. Its not even in the same solar system, little lone the same ball park.

You can get full versions of Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and KOTOR on Google Play also.
