There is nothing wrong with asking for a refund.

They know that the downtime sucked, that's why they extended the event for those who lost time. I doubt they will give you ZeniBucks, but they did the 2nd best thing honestly.

refund and compensation are not the same, refund is a termination of service in exchange for a capital rebate... compensation is keeping the service and gaining more

Guys it's high time to accept that Zen are not obliged to give anything away... Be it tangible or digital. Yea it is a complete joke that we have lost so much play time and my god you couldn't make it up. But it is just a video game.

I pay for eso plus and I buy 5k crowns almost each week or two before anyone tries that "you don't pay" card

The cold truth is that Zen are not interested in taking time to do this. Especially in light of the fact other servers and platforms will as a result demand equal privileges.

The more you demand that they spend time creating cute little apology hampers for us lot detracts from the time and resources directed at maintaining the already unstable server... Would be nice if they homed in on that issue before anything else.

i hate people like you. Its because of people like you that gaming companies can get away with so much because "its just a video game"

If non video game companies tried to pull the crap that video game companies do they would be fined, and would end up out of business.

there is next to no consumer protections on this market, especially the digital market.

hate me all you want. I don't define how a business works, the business does you moron.

The are not obliged to give you jack. its in the terms and conditions they can put servers up down and all around all they want.... you pressed agree.

Why to hate who might be a paid troll ? Waste of time.

@xbobx It's because of people like you who blame others, continue to complain, and fail to organize any substantial political/lawmaking lobby (to actually do something about your problem) that video game companies' practices cause you to hate a stranger on the forums.

You may want to consider what "obliged" could mean before making such sweeping statements. They may not have any enforceable commercial obligation, but I think anybody would be hard pressed to defend a position that they don't have an ethical / moral obligation given their failure to deliver an advertised, paid-for service. Consumers are entirely within their rights to demand (and most consumer-rights legislation will explicitly use that word) compensation when they don't receive a service that they have paid for.

You're clearly right that they're not interested. The reason you quote for that is short-sighted and irrational but nevertheless probably accurate. It's short-sighted and irrational because if they took the time and made the investment, the issues causing the demands would be more readily resolvable.

Rubbish. The many comments posted on these forums by users have no impact whatsoever on the people who are supposedly working on resolving the issues.

not doing anything shows what type of company they are and people will remember. So while they don't need to, its in their best interest otherwise they may find themselves hurting on future projects.

I lost the Jester Event and half Aniversary Event, lost the opportunity to buy the Jester Personality, wait another year.

Even so I was never interested in any compensation.

I asked if there was a way to BUY (not give away or compensate) the Jester Personality even though the event had already passed but ZOS faithful to their style, Simply ignored and did not answer.

Thats my only problem with ZOS, the lack of cumunication.

unfortunately, this is the directions games and their makers go in now. I remember when you paid £30 and got the full game and that was that.

I always consider EA to be the precursor for this sort of business... they have been pulling off the micro payment system for a very long time.

make a game, hype it like crazy and release it asap. as soon as enough cash rolls in the tech support slowly recedes, until it is the bare minimum to keep the ball rolling. the contracts are always riddled with loop holes and scape goats to avoid refunds, returns or law suits from players... and then when the game starts to show a steady decline they inject a booster. in the case of ESO its a chapter or a DLC like dark brotherhood.

the very bottom line is, as in all businesses... customer happiness is only a small slice of a big pie.

its all about money. money. money.

What's wrong with people being so vehemently against compensation rewards?

Whenever i got them in other games i thought "Hey, we had bad server performance but at least it was good for something"

With your guys' suggestion ppl log in and stay pissed off for the rest of the day.

Goddammit that's not remotely the point.
Can't we meet in the middle here? We have players making unreasonable demands like "GIMME A MILLION MOTIFS" and the other extreme is like "WE DON'T DESERVE ANYTHING MASTER".

This is basic and easily gained customer satisfaction with no loss. Throw in something cheap in every account's mail box for every hour of unexpected server downtime and everyone would be whining a lot less about server downtime.

The servers get weekly or almost weekly maintenace. If youve been playing the game any length of time you KNOW This.

The other outages this week, while annoying but they were not planned nor expected.

The fact is sometimes servers that run 24/7/365 break down and have issues that require fixing and that means taking down the server to do that work.

Yep it sucks but its part of the deal when dealing with machinery that can break.

You agreed to the terms of the TOS when you started playing. They are extending this event 1 week because of the outages.
If you cant deal with the outages, or that isnt good enough for you, stop playing, unsub, whatever. They dont owe us a damn thing for a few hours of required maintenace or repair to the servers.

As another poster said, Ill play when I can and be glad I dont live in north Korea.

With all the issues customers have been receiving it would be good to get something back occasionally, that said the only thing customers really deserve is actual fixes for their problems server wise..
