The event is a great opportunity to, if you have the funds, learn all the motifs in the game for much lower prices, excluding any which don't drop from the boxes (are there any? I haven't seen any militant ordinator items yet).

It also is a good way to invest a bit. Buy a few pages, save them, and re-sell later when the price climbs again due to increased (relative to current rates) rarity. BA motif pages have dropped to around 150k per on PC NA, with some wiggle room, and IIRC they were previously at 200k or more per page. They will likely climb back up in the coming months, as the only way to obtain them will once again be the soul-crushing task of Vvardenfell chest farming.

If they're that "easy" to obtain, why are/should they be 40k+?

Because the vast majority of people that play this game blow chunks at it, allowing those of us that don't to control the market.

Also, Cradle is nowhere near as hard as the HOTR or DBONES dungeons. I can clear cradle HM with a PuG with 2 or even 3 people that have never cleared the dungeon at all in 10 tries or less when I'm the healer having to depend on them to stay up. Good luck doing that in the newer dungeons.

Some of the motif prices were getting out of control. This event will bottom out the pricing, and over the next couple of months prices will stabilize at a new normal - higher than current but lower than they were a few weeks ago. Then they will gradually creep upward again, until the event next year repeats the cycle.

Taking the long view, this is a good thing.

I've made bank on the motifs. Selling for solid prices everyday and not these watered down deflation prices you speak of. Making your gold worth for a motif for its absolute price takes patience and "zone spamming" <--- lol... I make about 800k to over a mil a day in just motif sells alone. I don't know what this killing of the market is that you speak of.

I remember back before motif pages were a thing, and at that time 50k gold got a WHOLE Daedric Book. Your crying cause you can't charge 50k a page? Idgaf. Find some other way to scam people out of things they enjoy. You 1%ers are the same no matter what medium your a part of.

Because of the event many players will eat the motifs but not have the style completed by the end of it. So they will purchase to finish what they probably would not have started if not for this event.

The outfit system made motif prices soar stupid high, and this is fixing it temporarily, but I doubt that will last.

Motifs are probably one of the biggest gold makers in the game.

ZoS nerfing the ability to make tons of gold, because it will curb inflation and spread the wealth somewhat.

They also prefer you to buy that 3.8M house with ~10K crowns instead of gold.

You can still make gold but for most players that can't or don't want to turn the game into a second job farming gold, it takes so much longer. The hope (by ZoS) is for you to buy crowns instead.

Have to disagree with your disagreement. One could make 100-200k gold per hour, often averaging at 150k per hour farming motifs(when the motif prices were at its highest). I am really interested WHAT is more efficient? Trading may net you sometimes 250-300k per hour, but only when opportunity arises (which happens quite rarely)

Very happy with this event, theres people everywhere.
Think alotta players got motifs they otherwise would not get or bought.
Getting rare motifs makes the outfit system alot more fun to play around with too

Worth noting that prices for tempers and wax are now dropping due to the increased number of people doing the crafting dailies, and the market is getting flooded with them.

Event is going well, lots of players are everywhere doing crafting daily, world boss daily or undaunted daily.

Motifs pages prices are dropping a lot, seems like everyone bagging 20-30 motif per day.

This event is truly killing Motif farming @ Dungeons / Daily Quest, atleast for next 2 months. ZOS want to make players happy but not able to maintain ESO economy balance.

Its like now every event is causing up and down to ESO economy balance.

Well for all the chicken littles out there...this is the 3rd time for this event. Prices always recover. In the mean time add to your knowledge base and stow what you want to sell after it readjusts.

This is a great festival and refreshed me...

We have already seen this from the prior year. Glass motif never recovered from its crash. Easy to farm motif pages like Dwemer will sell for less. Dungeon and hard to farm motifs may recover somewhat, remember ZOS tweaked drop rates with the outfit system. Also newer motifs will take the place of the old money makers, just like BA did.

Wrong killer of glass...glass was killed because of all the free fragments as writ rewards for so long. I often sold extras and saw those drop over time...one reason they no longer drop and now must be purchased.

Market will come back to normal after some weeks. Motifs farmed are finite and the demand will start catching up after some time. Just let it go and let's sell it later while while those with lack of time/luck/etc get something nice for themselves or buy it cheap.

Not totally...they have been dropping the last few weeks...I trade in those. BTW when they get low...great time to buy & stow for when they are high.

Well, currently these farming methods are not viable, since they were quite exhaustive and taxing. It is more like 50-80k gold per hour now, which is more in line with other farming methods (like telvars, stealing or crafting writs). So I guess very few people would farm motifs till the price is higher.

And that should make more opportunity for those who do...

(You just may need to hold it for a while...or do you have a skooma fix to quell in need of that coin?)

The only thing that I don't really appreciate in this event is the chance to drop Morrowind's motifs even if you didn't buy the expansion. That is absurd...
I can at least understand DLC's ones... even if it's basically the same thing as above.

I can agree with this. Jewelry is probably second.
ZoS nerfing the ability to make tons of gold, because it will curb inflation and spread the wealth somewhat.
ZoS has no influence on the market in the game. This comes down to players.

Ironic, when you turn and watch how many of them turn their rage against ZoS for its pricing/Crown Crate offerings despite doing the very same thing.

Some will argue "market price", but this isn't true. How many times have we seen this:
Player 1: "I found this motif. How much does it go for?"
Player 2: "Those run about 50k-75k."
    Player 1: "Thanks." {lists in store for 50k}

This isn't what I call a market. It's monopoly pricing.

So, people may be wondering, "Then why does it work?"

Same reason why Crown Crates sell: there's always a buyer. Always. And as long as there exists buyers, prices will always reflect those "whales" (as they're called).

This is why I stay away from the cities. The pricing models are just ridiculous. Most of my deals have been found on those little shops people run by without a second glance.
    :)

This formula falls flat when you consider that any remotely competent group can speedrun Cradle Hardmode in less than 30 minutes and walk away with 4 pages of a motif that sells for 40k+ per page.

Formula is wrong anyway. Login and doing all crafting dailies on a toon nets you 4k Gold in 5 minutes, no master writs or surveys considered as they add time. This means you can do twelve writs within an hour and puts effective farming to at least 48k gold per hour.

There are other activities in ESO which consistently bring ~200k gold per hour, but I'm obviously not gonna elaborate on those.
