I'm part of a great community of people. There are always some folks in discord to chat with while I do various things in game. For me it's the social aspect of a guild that keeps me coming back. It's the reason I came back to ESO after an 8 month break. I just couldn't find another guild in another game like what I had here.

Good people, fun chat, a place to sell my extra shizzle, a place to find people to run dungeons and trials and other content with. Any and all of the above.

guilds do not exist in a vacuum. they are not some strange amorphous being.

guilds are just people gathered together for a common purpose. could be trading or raiding or trials or just to be sociable.

could you really not work that out for yourself?

For me it's two interrelated things:

    1) It gives me a consistent group of people to talk to while playing. I don't have to hang around a specific city or map to find people to talk to or put off doing main story quests or whatever until the conversation is finished, we can talk any time we're in game, which makes it easier to get to know each other.

    2) People to play with when I want or need to. I mostly play solo but there's plenty of things I can't do alone and times when I just want to join in with group activities and being in a guild makes it easier to find people to play with. Firstly because of the shared chat channel but also because we already know we have similar attitudes towards content. When I join a guild group for a dungeon or whatever I don't have to ask if they're ok with my weird builds or if they're going to allow me time to listen to the dialogue because I already know they play the same way I do and we're all ok with that.

My guilds do a lot of other things - RP events, raffles, map boss speed-clears, PvP etc. but for various reasons I don't tend to join in with that (usually because I don't have time or I'm not interested), but those two are the main benefits for me.

I keep hoping I’ll be more social. Over 700 cp and still no trial attempts. Time zone + kids makes this one tough as well as in game shyness. But every once in a while I jump in on chat, a dungeon invite or whatever. And then there is house crashing. People have some amazing talent here and most want to show off the efforts. Hit your roster and take a look.

Just leave the lights how you left them. Really people.

I'm quite particular i don't want 5 guilds all overlapping.

I have two pure traders, one PvP, one PvE/Trials and a IRL guild that's more social. I like the factor they are specific and don't.cross over.

As a guild leader our goal is to help newbies. So finding people that need a hand, sort leveling gear for free, help teach PvP or run dungeons.etc this all seems to go a long way. Havin master crafters helps a ton.

why are you posting so many threads about guilds?

    just curious.

Answered elsewhere but once again. Some things usually pop in my head and wish to know how people would respond. In this case, I simply want talk about different issues of guild system. It's also something good for people to read in the future. I am aware I broke our forum taboo of too many threads but they sorta new topics so forgive me o:)

it's ok. but you could have woven all those questions into one thread... save people clicking around.

but i hope you can see from some of the responses you've received that guilds are a positive thing.

My trade guilds give me somewhere to sell and have random discussions.

My content guilds give me a place to find others to do content with or join weekly scheduled content.

My small friends guild gives me 500 bank spaces.

So I was pugging ICP when it first launched in the IC DLC. I was a tank and had this awesome healer join my run. The DPS were low enough that we couldnt kill the flesh atros before enrage. So this healer who was crown kicked those 2 and pulled in 2 members from her guild where she was an officer. We got on TS and at the end of the run she asked me if I wanted to join the guild. That is how I found my first guild which turned out to be a trials guild. Interestingly the guild turned out to be the reason I still play ESO. Made a lot of friends, met my girlfriend and overall changed me from a solo player to actually playing the game like an MMO
I play how I want to.

My guilds are for my trials team, another guild for social reasons and helping others, then some more trials guilds and a trading guild. They are also useful when you want to port somewhere for free, you simply look at a guild roster and port to them :)

My main 2 are a very active trading guild which makes me gold and a very active trial running guild. The trading guild is always in a prime spot, so sells whatever I list. The trials guild runs scheduled trials, helps people improve their skills and roles, preparing them for vet trials, vMA, etc.

I gave been in and out of a few over the years, some go 'stale', others become 'demanding' of members, some just die out. I'm not an overly social person, so constant harassment for this or that puts me right off but I think I'll stick with these main two for a while yet.

same way you find people on dating sites, or book discussion sites, etc. common ground, common interests make for a pretty decent relationship foundation.

as for original question - which also kinda ties into reply above. community of people with common interests is what guilds do for people. whether that interest is to make some gold, or do some pvp, or pve content - group or otherwise, guilds usually are places for people with common interests and/or goals.

but i hope you can see from some of the responses you've received that guilds are a positive thing.

It's to discuss different ascepts of guild system. The responses to my half thread about why people leave guilds made more curious today. How I feel isn't important as how others feel about the system? Maybe I can learn from them and see issues I'm a different light. I am asking is the current system functioning well enough. I don't think so, but maybe I am wrong.

What leads to dead social guilds. Lack of loyalty or feeling of involment in a guild. So I ask what do guilds actually do for people. Now anyone looking in could potentially learn from others how run better guilds or we can discuss how system could be better.

So yes under a different thread because this a different ascept. I am not saying guild system sucks but want to understand how it currently function from perpesctives then my own biased one. Each thread had different goals though. I am trying talk about how people actually get together in guilds. I heard people afraid to whisper guildsmates. I heard of people getting left out at low levels. Why does this happen? Is the bigger you grow in guild the less they do for members?
