Can we remove the sigil from Deathmatch already?

I'm sick and tired of losing what would otherwise be close games simply because another team was lucky and got the sigil one or two more times than the other teams. It's not even that fun to use and even more lame to fight against.

    In the hands of a good player it can stack up some easy kills. In the hands of a coordinated group it can wipe the map and demoralize enemies enough to stay in their spawn.

    I understand its intended purpose but it does more worse than good. I'd love for it to be implemented in a more underdog style manner but it should probably just go altogether.

    I don't know a single BG player that likes the sigil mechanic.

    I'd be OK with putting Sigil into a game mode like domination where you actually sacrifice points for running around looking for it.

    I don't mind the idea of a sigil, but the way it's implemented is not really entertaining.

    It drops at the beginning of a game, so if the sigil happens to be on the opposite side of your spawn, you're good to wait a whole minute without fighting, which brings me to the second point:

    It's way too strong.

    If I run a high damage build, using an AoE ultimate allows me to nuke an entire team. This gets worse if multiple players have it. It should buff the damage done by 25%, not 100%.

    The last point: the highest scoring team is usually the one getting it, which yet again increases the gap with the other teams.

    Thus, the changes I'd introduce would be the following:
    • Either remove the first sigil spawn or always make it spawn in the middle
    • Reduce the damage bonus
    • Restrict which team can activate it, either the one with the worst score or the 2 teams with the lowest score

    For me BGs are about competing based on skill instead of numbers in a controlled environment. Deathmatch would be the mode to allow that, but the sigil ruins it all. It's 8+ guaranteed kills with basically zero counterplay.
    I don't know why ZOS is so much against competitive PvP, but it really sucks in my opinion.

    It would make more sense to have it if a team is down by at least 200-300 points. But as it is , it’s a really terrible idea.

    Maybe if a third place team trailing by 100+ points automatically got the sigil buff for the 30 seconds, that might be better than what we have now. I’d still just prefer to not have it at all, but using it as a potential catch up mechanic would be a decent compromise.

    Then again I was solo queuing the other day and none of the three I ended up with saw we had the sigil under the base (lava level). I mentioned it in group chat but still no response. Another team came and got it and killed them with it, and I left the group. Can’t fix stupid.

    I actually totally disagree. I used to hate it, and feel the same but actually i like the variable and it gives PUG teams a chance to get some score back.

    Oddly its only the better player that hate it. And really most pug players feel like better players have the sigil constantly, i vote to keep it for sure.

    I've run in bad PUGs who get depressed in DM as you can't carry them like you can in other game types but by shouting get sigil when its up and running about you give the lowbies a chance to score some points and enjoy the match. That motivating.

    Does it turn the overall score - unlikely, unless its a close match anyway.

    DM would be dull with out it ive come to realize.

    It takes away from skill in a fight when it's decided by one side picking up a sigil. It's too strong. It's random. It usually helps the dominating team even more. It vastly favours the more mobile builds.

    I would miss the trolling potential though.

    If anything, maybe have it in the spawn location for the team who's down by 300pts.

    A team leading by 300 doesn't need it.

    It's a difficult issue. I believe it was intended to give the losing teams or players a slight advantage, Only it gets used by the dominating team the majority of the time.

    Personally, I find it hard to get I my magplar due to limited speed and movability when compared to stamina alternatives.

    The main point to take here is that it can be fair but ONLY IF ONE PLAYER GETS IT. Having an entire dominating team stack on it and then run around the map slaughtering everything really isn't fun. However, if it is limited to one player it can be possible to counter that player with opposing damage but still with the risk you are basically going up against a buffed up phsyco.

    Today I was lucky enough to find myself getting a beat down from both opposing teams only to hear the sigil spawn around the corner. It's fair to say from this clip that they should have been more observative like I was. It allowed me to turn around a fight I would not have been able to win. In this case, I think it was fair because they were not paying enough attention to the game around them and considering the fact I was severely outnumbered. If It were not there I would have simply waited for my team to catch up but It was more fun doing it all myself to be honest. xboxdvr.com/gamer/Triipzzz/video/47140356
