INVESTIGATION: Xbox players, does it rain inside these houses....?

I am investigating a console bug that first appeared with the release of Morrowind in June 2017.

This bug allows it to RAIN inside any house that has an open door or window, AND rain through ANY object that is placed, such as boulders, tents, dome etc, anything at all.

After starting an account on PC and the PTS I recently discovered that the bug is not present on those platforms. I do not own an Xbox so I am hoping some players may respond and can quickly investigate and reply. This would tell us if this is an issue just with PS4 or both console platforms.

Houses on Xbox that you can check are:

• First Pod in Gornir Estate
• Outside building in Forsaken Stronghold
• The Barn in Serenity Falls
• The Barn in Daggerfall Overlook
• The cottage hut in Excorcised Cottage
• Anywhere inside Earthtear Cavern
• Any house with an open door or window
• Can also place an object and see if it rains through the object when its raining

The bug does not occur in houses that have an inside that is its own instance! Just houses that have open doorways or windows

This is a discussion and investigation rather than a bug report. Several bug reports have been made on this issue since June 2017 Morrowind release and have gone completely ignored by ZOS who have not even acknowledged the bug or responded in anyway.

I wish to make a video demonstrating this bug, and comparing to PTS and PC, but first wanted to discover if this is just PS4 or also Xbox.

Your help is greatly appreciated :)

EDIT (added from Xbox players also experiencing rain bug inside these):
• Under Sleek Creek House
• Balcony of Mistveil Manor
• Smaller building in Linchal Grand Manor

Exorcised coven cottage does rain inside the hut. Yeah I know it can be a bit immersive at times. Also Xbox NA.

There was a thread on this that randomly got moved to something called the “trash can” without any explanation from the mods. Not even a “we’re closing this because x” excuse.

I thought it was because I necroed the thread, but then I remember I necro *** all the time and this has never happened before.

They just behave bizarrely on this issue. I can’t explain it.

No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

Go to the search bar and type in “comicsverse”. It should be the first thing. You’ll see its in something called The Trash Can. The post happens to link to an article I made on this subject. I didn’t even notice the post until yesterday, though it’s been up since this problem started.

So conveniently, once I notice the thread and admittedly necro it, it vanishes from the forums to “The Trash Can” without explanation. Again, I necro stuff all the time on this forum. I had a thread on Summerset going since October. But when it’s this topic, Zenimax gets all weird.

This was the more recent thread on the raining inside bug... but this was before I discovered it was solely a console bug after testing it on PC and PTS servers:

Yeah. I’ve been playing MMOs since I was a kid, and writing about them for a few years, and only in obscure korean MMOs have I seen this level of caginess from a development team.

That being said, usually it’s an all or nothing thing. I’ve never in my life seen a development team so inconsistently cagey. Why does this specific issue make them behave in such a strange way? It’s not just the thread that got zonked either. When this first happened, there were over 20 days of silence, conflicting statements from different PR folks, and implications in their statements that they had no idea what was going on. I can’t explain it.

It's really weird. I've never seen a game that leaves bugs outstanding for 6-12 months at a time. Even an MMO. It's truly a mystery what goes on over there.

My theory is that the same people who create the content are the same ones who fix the bugs and they only have time to go back and look at old content and bugs when they have completed all the content creation goals they are given for the next quarter which I'm sure is vast. This leaves little time for issues to be looked at and fixed. I can't think of any explanation as to why bugs persist for so long other than there is no team or person dedicated to fixing bugs. It's not like there's been a guy coming to work everyday since June of 2017 going "well damn I just can't get it to stop raining inside of these houses!"

Here's the thing though: I have seen games leave bugs in for that long, even MMOs. What I haven't seen is this level of confusion, shyness, and almost insecurity on such a very specific, seemingly random issue. I highly recommend you read the original thread on this matter.

Watch how, over the course of 20 days, we were promised a response, then had to wait weeks, only for different PR people to tell us different stories.

Pay attention to how they conveniently ignore one issue (the raining) and refuse to acknowledge it, even after fixing the other issues.

Notice how, in a few of their wildly conflicting statements, they imply these things happened without their knowledge or control. Notice how they admit that some of the changes were intentional, but they were "rolled out" earlier than expected. Did some random intern hit the wrong button? What, exactly, was intended and what was a bug? We'll never know because they'll never tell us.

So I guess the question is: what now?

        The two issues are:
        • Console: It rains inside any house/property that has an open door or window
        • Console: It rains THROUGH any housing object that is placed, so that a player cannot construct any type of cover... it just rains through the object as if the object isn't there.

Now that I know it's console )both ps4 and xbox), I want to put a little video together explaining the issue and demonstrating how it works on PC and PTS, then demonstrate whats happening on Console...

...then beg Gina and Jessica to see if we can get a response on whats happening with the bug as it's been 9 months now and many threads on this, all without acknowledgement.

Obviously will take a bit of time as have to fit in between work n game time

Yeah, this has been a problem in all of house structures on PS4 that have any kind of open connection to the outside. I didn't knew that this was fixed which makes this extremely annoying, but as we all know fixes for Console have a low priority for ZOS (the missing luxury item from a few weeks backs still hadn't shown up yet)
